Saints of Death - Ascend To The Throne (2020)

Saints of Death - Ascend To The Throne (2020)
For fans of Motorhead, Lamb of God, Pantera, DevilDriver
Album Title: Ascend To The Throne
Release Date: July 10, 2020
Label:  HeadRattle Productions

"Vancouver based groove death metal band is doing something different in the metal genre by having a double bass attack with towering lead singer Twan Holliday on 8 string bass and Stony Gingras on 5 string." - The Province (Vancouver)
"This dual bass 4 piece, is pure metal. Melodic and hard-driving with a huge bottom end (how could you not when you have both a 4 stringer and an 8 string bass at the same time!). This got the crowd more frenzied and the pit started to gain activity.. they set themselves apart with their unique brand of thrash, doom, and hardcore. The first thing you will notice about this band is the incredible stage presence of frontman Twan Holliday whom stands nearly 7 feet tall." - Live Review 2017 opening for Lordi - Patchord News
"Damn, this was a real surprise. Saints Of Death are a fireball of molten metal. This is their first outing after starting out originally as a Motorhead tribute band. This is real metal, make no mistake. They are a lot of factors that make this band unique. Let's start with the fact that there are two, yes two bass players in Saints Of Death. This makes for a real heavy low end and down and dirty rhythm.  If you’re a fan of Coal Chamber or Devildriver you’ll have no problem enjoying what this band cranks out. It’s great from the first note to the last." - XS Rock (Review of Self-Titled EP 2015)
"If you can imagine what Pantera might have been like if they had channeled the hostility into a social conscience, or if Lamb Of God had issued their invitation to march on those in power, you will be somewhere close to what is on offer here. Saints Of Death have come up with the most promising brutal debut in a long time. Rating 9.5/10" - Maximum Volume Music (Review of Self-Titled EP 2015)
“All five tracks on this EP pack a punch, but at the same time, they are very accessible, and all have the potential to crossover to a mainstream audience, without the need for selling out. They sound nothing like early W.A.S.P. But what they do have in common with Mr. Lawless’s early output is the knack of writing a good tune and the band have gotten the balance between melody and heaviness just about spot-on. And with plenty of hooks on offer, that'll stay in your head for days. It’s not very often you get to say this about a new band, but I think Saints of Death really do have a chance of breaking through to the big league… if they get the right breaks in this unpredictable industry.” - Metal Legions (Review of Self-Titled EP 2015)

Originally starting out as a Motorhead tribute band, Vancouver, BC’s SAINTS of DEATH is a four-piece that has taken the reins to write original material with a double bassist attack and set themselves apart from the pack with their uniquely heavy sound of thrash, doom and hardcore metal.
Inspired by the Mexican folklore of Santa Muerte (Spanish for Holy Death), SAINTS of DEATH is fronted by vocalist and eight-string bassist Twan Holliday, a giant standing nearly 7’ foot tall who can also be recognized for his acting credits in some well-known Hollywood movies and pro wrestling (credits below). Holliday is joined by four string bassist Juan Helluva, guitarist Ashley Blue and Christopher James on drums to complete this ferocious line-up.
Taking their experiences from past bands (Snaggletooth, Strapping Young Lad, Farewell to Freeway, Tides of Honor & more), these veterans of the Vancouver debuted their self-titled EP in 2015 and hit the road on a series of follow up tours! Getting great reviews with both online sources as well as physical press, the band quickly climbed to the top of the Western Canadian metal scene.
Soon after making a name for themselves in their home country, SAINTS of DEATH embarked on its first international tour of Mexico during November 2018 and has since returned two more times to play multiple festivals with acts such as Dee Snider (Twisted Sister), ELO, Dave Evans (Ex - ACDC), Neil Turbin (Ex - Anthrax) and many more successful acts.
After a short hiatus and a replenished new line up, SAINTS of DEATH recorded their first full-length album (2nd release) entitled "Ascend To The Throne" set for release on July 10th, 2020 via HeadRattle Productions.
The band adds:
"This album has been a long time coming, and we cannot wait to get it into the ears of our fans. After dealing with line up issues for a few years solid, we finally have a solid line up and are back to kicking ass. The current line up has been together since 2018 and we have really gelled as friends and as band members. Naturally, with this kind of chemistry going on, it was finally time to record a new album.
Like the first EP, there is diversity between each song, allowing each of them to stand out as hard-hitting singles. There is also the consistency that allows the songs to come together as a great album. We talk about important topics such as the trials of society, corruption and corporate greed, mental health as well as a few other topics on this album. We put a lot of hard work and passion crafting this album and making it what it is and we cannot wait to show the world!"
As soon as the COVID pandemic resolves and concert life can return to normal, expect SAINTS of DEATH to set the bar high with a live behemoth of ampage, theatrics backed by a custom light show, and pushing forward to take on the biggest stages and crowds to win over fans who enjoy headbanging to such bands as Motorhead, Lamb of God, Pantera, DevilDriver.
Fun Fact: Besides being a musician vocalist/bassist Twan Holliday has acting credits for movies American Mary (2012), The Devils Ground (2009) w/ Darryl Hanna, Stan Helsing (2009) (Leslie Neielson’s last movie), Catwoman (2004) w/ Halle Barry, Psych (TV Show) plus has done stunts on Super Natural (TV Show) and Pathfinder (2007). Twan was also a pro-hard-core wrestler of 10 years and was on TV every Saturday at 1 pm on KVOS TV12 (Bellingham, WA) plus was asked to train for WWE.
Track by Track explained by the band:
Ascend to the Throne - This is the title track off our new album. It is a very fast-paced song. This is a song about fighting your way to the top and taking the throne. Becoming your greatest self. Becoming your own King or Queen and triumphing over the challenges you may face in life.
Watching Me Die - The destruction of earth with corporate greed.  Watching You, Me, humanity and mother earth die to the hands of unjust corporations and tyrannical governments.
God Can’t Help You Now - This song is about governments and Religions hiding behind a false of sense of security. Waging wars and dividing humanity for power and control of the nation, all in the name of god.
Repentance - This is a song about the problems we all face day to day. It’s about the struggles we deal within our own mind. Sometimes you become your own worst enemy, self-sabotage, or doubt yourself. The struggles with mental health we all deal with in different ways and this song is about finding repentance amongst the dark.
You Can’t Run - This song is a stab em up ode to horror flicks.
Soldiers of Metal - This song is Tribute to the metal community and all that is metal. Inclusion and standing for the great cause. Putting away your prejudice and uniting as a force. A homage to the great bands that paved the way and the bands that will carry the torch.
