EXTINCTIONIST – OBSIDIAN (Review by Varg The Mighty )

German Brutal Death Metal band Extinctionist have released their newest album, and it may perfectly be their best.
With the incorporation of their new drummer Denny Lang, Extinctionist continue releasing technical Brutal Death Metal with hints of Grindcore.
Similar to Blood Incantation, this band makes Death Metal sound like it came from outer space to crush us all, but their approach to this idea is far better, much more brutal, full of technicality and yet it sounds like the most primitive and basic Death Metal.
This band sounds like all Brutal Death Metal should sound, yet very few are like this. Their Grindcore influences make the whole much more fun to listen, while also making the song lengths more dynamic, so much that once you finish hearing the album you’ll want to play it again because it felt far too short.
Another great thing this album has is how natural the music sounds, not only everything is perfectly coordinated, but you can’t hear any artificial drumming or vocal effects that are so prominent in the genre.

If you enjoy Grindcore, Brutal Death Metal and weird spacey stuff this is what you’re looking for.
