Today, Purity Through Fire sets October 31st as the international release date for Essence of Blasphemers' striking debut album, Calyx of Black Metal Blood, on CD, cassette tape, and limited A5 digipack formats.
A cross-continental duo, Essence of Blasphemers comprises instrumentalist Tsorn from Germany and vocalist Malduchryst from Ecuador. Combined, both men have vast experience in the black metal underground, across far too many bands to list here. Needless to say, with Essence of Blasphemers do they consolidate their talents to create only the purest and most lifeless BLACK METAL exclusively.
As such, Calyx of Black Metal Blood is an apt title for a debut album. Unapologetically raw, pulsing with utterly dead energies, riffs that sound wrangled from the slime beyond human comprehension, vocals crackling from an unknown grave: indeed, Essence of Blasphemers conjure forth a sound far, far removed from modernity. In fact, one could point to the still-vital tape-trading scene at the dawn of this cursed millennium for references to the type of black metal the duo (exclusively) play - days when Drakkar and Full Moon ruled the underground...
