Today’s review is of Brazilian Speed Metal band Hell Gun’s debut album.
Starting off with an epic intro, you soon get absorbed right back into the late 80’s, where Power Metal was starting to be born from Speed Metal bands like Helloween, Blind Guardian or Paradox’s early albums. This era’s feeling is completely transmitted on this album. They have managed to release an album in the style of this transitional period fairly well.
Other bands which may come to mind when listening to this may be Obsession (on the faster songs like “Revolution Blade”), or Savatage (on the technical songs like the title track or the ones which experiment with acoustic guitars like “Sacrifice”). But most of all, what truly makes this album good is the voice, which is really similar to Kai Hansen’s (most notably on “Tears Of Ra”) and that perfectly fits with a fairly similar guitar style.
I recommend this album to fans of Speed Metal, Heavy Metal, Thrash Metal and Power Metal, basically anything from the 80’s. I give this album a good 9/10. Review by Varg The Mighty
