1945 – ACT 1 ( Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of Spanish Heavy Metal band 1945’s debut EP.
On this EP, they show us what they’re capable of, and they have a pretty good potential to be explored on a future full-length. One wouldn’t really consider this band pure in its genre, but more like Thrash Metal slowed down and slightly adapted to the style. More specifically, Thrash Metal in the style of Megadeth, with female vocals that imitate the voice of Dave Mustaine (something that definitely makes this band different), a music that fluctuates in a similar manner and almost similar virtuosity and technical aspects. The song which most greatly displays this side of the band is “Perfect Final”.
On the other hand, the EP is notably variated, with other songs tending more towards pure Heavy Metal or even Hard Rock. There seems to be no slight variation which makes the band sound worse, for they have a good dominion of the riff. On “Black Rose”, they even show their capacity to make a ballad, and it displays a grand amount of emotion comparable to an 80’s power ballad, while songs like “Talk” may lean you towards a much heavier side of Heavy Metal. Combining a touch of modernity with the old-school, this EP may remind you of various different artists, but it’s definitely particular.
I recommend this album to fans of Heavy Metal, Hard Rock and Thrash Metal. My rating is of 9/10.
