Today’s review is of German Black Metal band Old Pagan’s album “The Sign Of The Battle Dragon”.
This album is, as the rest of their releases, pure and raw Black Metal at its most old-school. With a demo quality and sticking completely to the formula, in this album we receive fast and dark tracks like “Die Fucking Nazarene” or “EinLeben” that are pretty enjoyable.
These songs transmit the feeling of 90s Norwegian demos, and although it may not be too memorable, it sure isn’t bad. It has clear Darkthrone influences that are very prominent and well synthesised together with perhaps some other inspirations appearing clearly, like Marduk or Urgehal.
I recommend this to fans of Black Metal and Unholy Black Metal. My rating is of 8/10.
