ENEMY AWAKE – FALLEN WORLD ( Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of Swedish Death Metal band Enemy Awake’s new album.

This album is quite diverse within Death Metal, with an old-school Melodic Death Metal feeling being the most prominent throughout the release combined sometimes with slower Death Metal in the likes of Bolt Thrower (as on “The Vampire”), distant hints of Heavy Metal as on the title track or purer Death Doom throughout some riffs.

Although this is mostly Melodic Death Metal, it is in a way more extreme than other bands of the style in the sense that it’s not simply a display of virtuosity, but one of heaviness in the most classic and Swedish way with some hints of melody like the earliest albums of the subgenre. This release has great tracks with a perfect combination of intense riffs and deep vocals that remotely remind me of Konvent.

I recommend this album to fans of Melodic Death Metal, OSDM and Death Doom Metal. My rating is of 9/10.
