MOONSCAPE – ENTITY, PART II ECHOES FROM A COGNITIVE DYSTOPIA ( Review By Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of Norwegian Progressive Metal band Moonscape’s new album.

This release combines multiple styles under an interesting and virtuous Progressive composition. Throughout the album you may find parts that sound like Death Metal, Doom Metal or Power Metal in the style of Stratovarius.

The way in which they combine Progressive and Extreme Metal reminds somewhat of Borknagar in some occasions, but this band has a much more purely Progressive approach. Combining lengthy solos of guitar and synth with sometimes even operatic segments, this album has some kind of darkness to it that differentiates it from any Dream Theater clone despite also being heavily influenced by them. These 3 tracks display numerous sonorities in a diverse way that sure is interesting to hear. It truly feels like the representation of a cruel introspective tragedy.

I recommend this album to fans of Progressive Metal and Extreme Progressive Metal. My rating is of 9/10.
