The Motorleague - "Dischordia" (single) - Grammy and Juno Award-winning producer Eric Ratz

Label: Self-Released
Format: Digital
Genre: Hard Rock
Country: Canada

Evolution has been a constant in the world of Moncton, NB band The Motorleague. From their punk-inspired beginnings through the more radio-friendly territory of the band’s 2017 release Holding Patterns, the band finds itself - and its sound - truly coming into its own with their new single “Dischordia.”

With Grammy and Juno Award-winning producer Eric Ratz (BillyTalent, Monster Truck) behind the board, and a guest appearance by Brian Byrne, formerly of I Mother Earth, sharing leadvocal duties, the recording of “Dischordia” helped rejuvenatethe group following the introduction of a new rhythm section.

“Heading into the studio, it felt like the four of us were all on the same page,” singer-guitarist Don Levandier says.

“As a band, we were gelling well, which helped make the session exciting and fun. It ended up being a positive, enjoyable session, and I think that comes across in the song.”

“In the whole world of rock they are a shining light,” says Byrne.

“From my perspective, this band should be so big.”

When it came to “Dischordia,” Levandier says they took some well-heeded advice offered by Ratz during the making of their last full-length effort, Holding Patterns.

“We learned so much from Eric, but the one thing that stuck with us the most was his suggestion that we really needed to hone in on our style. With our previous efforts, we were guiltyof straddling different genres from song to song. And while we didn’t completely abandon that with ‘Dischordia,’ it also felt like we had finally found our sound. That was a big shot in the arm morale-wise.”

That morale and newfound confidence can be found in spades on “Dischordia.” Driven by a wall of melodic guitars playing over the group’s rock-solid rhythm, the track slowly builds from an unassuming stance at the beginning before crescendoing as the song urgently progresses, bolstered by a refrain deserving of repeated plays.

In addition to having racked up more than two million Spotify streams between their last three Top 10 Active Rock singles, The Motorleague has also undertaken tours with Godsmack, Dropkick Murphys, The Flatliners, A Wilhelm Scream and Protest The Hero. The band has also shared the stage with Our Lady Peace, Finger Eleven, Billy Talent and Three Doors Down, and has logged countless miles performing throughout Canada, the U.S., and Germany.

Blame it on the fact the band hasn’t packed up their lives to make Toronto their home, but despite their success so far The Motorleague remains one of Canada’s best-kept secrets.

“Dischordia” may serve as the turning point in giving the band the mainstream recognition they deserve.
