RABEEN MOHAMMED – ERESHKIGAL ( Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of Iraqi Melodic Death Metal band Rabeen Mohammed’s new album.

This album mixes harsh Melodic Death Metal with oriental music, which accompanies really well the Mesopotamian lyrics, and a great amount of guitar virtuosity. Most of this album acquires an instrumental side that allows multiple solos, some with a lot of feeling that remind of modern Iron Maiden and others with much more straightforward shred like Michael Angelo Batio or many guitar heroes.

The use of folk music in here reminds also of AlNamrood, although this album does it all more subtly, even allowing place for Symphonic Metal parts like in the title track. This album is pretty decent and may be enjoyed by any fan of virtuous and technical metal which sounds modern and tends towards innovation.

I recommend this album to fans of Melodic Death Metal, Shred, Symphonic Metal and Progressive Metal. My rating is of 8,5/10.
