THOR Alliance (2021). ( Review by Alex Mandel )

Jon Mikl Thor has been fighting in this business for many years, many. Since those 70's when he began his journey mixing spectacle with catchy music at the same time as sugar cane. He has seen them in all colors and it is still there. I don't know if he still hopes to get that hit one day that has just catapulted him or has resigned himself to following his own thing and enjoying it, but there it is. Since 2017 until now he has released 6 new albums, there is nothing, always with his personal stamp. The merit is to see how he does it to get a lot of records, a lot of songs and not get heavy at all.
You cannot expect great virtuosity, convoluted compositions or heck like that. He in his 80s Alice Cooper style, faithful to his catchy compositions but there is the merit, without repeating himself and Alliance is a good example of it.
16 new songs and a version of one of them (the catchy one, of course, We will fight forever). Maybe too many for my liking but not repetitive at all. The line-up that currently accompanies it is very veteran and it shows in how cohesive it sounds. It is still a one-man band accompanied by other members but the truth is that it is a formation that sounds very good. Renew or die but without giving up the essence and that is what he shows us here.
The choirs are gaining importance, complementing Thor's voice, and the years do not forgive but he solves it masterfully by giving another dimension to his music.
Do not expect a masterpiece but an entertaining work that is already a lot today.
Of course, you have to give it credit and let it continue.
8/10
ALEX MANDEL
