VADE ARATRO – AGRESTE CELESTE (Review by Varg The Mighty)

Today’s review is of Italian Heavy Metal band Vade Aratro’s new double album.

This release imbues the NWOTHM spirit in a rural aura that makes it friendlier and less serious, bringing it near to other lighter styles of Rock or at times even Ska to deliver a humbler soundscape straight from the earth itself. Mixing their happy and sometimes slightly progressive (though always moderately simple) songs with sincere interludes of mostly piano, the release has a clear Folk ambience despite not using Folk instruments or virtually any other influence of the genre.

The album is as long as it is diverse, but some aspects of it may be enjoyed more than others by the listener if one puts on the album expecting some normal Heavy Metal. Here is anything but that, yet nonetheless it is a fun and cheerful play if you’re in the mood for it. My personal highlights are “Al Sole” and “Alla Luna”.

I recommend this album to fans of Heavy Metal and Folk Rock. My rating is of 7,5/10.
