LESSON IN VIOLENCE – THE THRASHFALL OF MANKIND (Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of German Thrash Metal band Lesson In Violence’s debut album.

This release offers a straightforward aggression that reminds much more of the Bay Area (especially Exodus, of which their name is an iconic song) than their native scene, though distant traces of Teutonic fury also appear from time to time.

While these songs may be great to mosh until death when performed live, they are composed entirely from within a comfort zone, and a consequence of that is the moderate monotony of the release, although the occasional catchy riff nonetheless stands out. This is a decent full-length that may delight some old-school metalheads, but it lacks an element of freshness and originality to make it unique. Probably in future releases this detail shall be corrected though, for the band’s music hints to a notable amount of hidden energy waiting to be unleashed someday. My personal highlights are “Lost In Yourself” and “Rigid And Stubborn”.

I recommend this album to fans of Thrash Metal. My rating is of 8/10.
