TYGERS OF PAN TANG NEWSLETTER
* November 2021 *

In this newsletter:
--> Tygers win award!
--> Competition winner
--> News about the single!
--> Merchandise sale!
--> Francesco's "Life in Music"

WE WON AN AWARD!

If you are a keen follower of the Tygers Social Media you will know that we won the Hard Rock Hell award for the NWOBHM. Everyone was extremely proud and it was particularly nice that former members sent messages of congratulation. We are indebted to those who voted for the Tygers and to the organisers of Hard Rock Hell.

The best laid plans … as they say. The UK dates we mentioned in the last newsletter did not go ahead as one of the band contracted COVID. I’m sure that you can imagine the disappointment in the Tygers camp. We are working on rescheduling the dates for around the same time next year. But there are gigs coming up after Christmas so try and get along if one is near to you.

This has also delayed the release of the single and we are just waiting for a date from Mighty Music but hopefully we can let you know in the end of year newsletter. Remember that initially the single will only be available as a strictly limited edition CD. Readers of this newsletter will get the first chance to purchase. No downloads as we wanted this to be a special release for true Tygers fans.

Thank you to everyone who entered the single related competition. The question was ‘The words to ’Fireclown’ were written by a certain Mr Richard Laws. From where did he draw his inspiration?’

The answer was of course Michael Moorcock – who was also the inspiration for the bands name. The lucky winner is Chantal Carpentier from Belgium. So

Chantal if you could send your address to the Tygers management sparechaynge1@gmail.com - as soon as we have the single a copy will be on its way to you.

If you want to buy someone a nice Christmas present – or even something for yourself then hop over to the merchandise page. There is a sale and we won’t be posting about it on Social Media until Friday. So get in early and bag a bargain. https://www.tygersofpantang.com/official/shop.html Tygers pen anyone ;)

This month in ‘My Life in Music’ we feature drummer and video king Craig Ellis. Scroll down to see his choices.

Hope to see you at a gig soon

Robb, Craig, Jack, Huw and Francesco.

EVIL HUNTER – LOCKDOWN ( Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of Spanish Heavy Metal band Evil Hunter’s new album.

This release brings to mind Teutonic acts such as Accept, or faster and Speed Metal-leaning bands like Iron Angel, following a strict Heavy Metal formula with some added harshness below an uplifting ambience.

The riffs are accompanied by generally powerful solos and a high pitched yet mean vocal performance that may also at times remind of The Three Tremors with less headaches. This full-length is undeniably old-school and may appeal to fans of any sort of rough Heavy Metal composed with a clear objective. As so, the album is easy to digest by fans of the genre, and while no odd innovation appears, the full-length may be differenced from other current bands by its lack of excessive mixing of the whole genre. Their limitation to a more enclosed region gives the album more consistency and allows for a good display of what they’re good at. My personal highlights are “You’ll Never Walk Alone” and “Fear Them All”.

I recommend this album to fans of Heavy Metal and Speed Metal. My rating is of 8,5/10.
