Siberian creature of bottomless chaos ULTAR will break its grave silence and amaze your imagination with the long-awaited third LP At the Gates of Dusk. The time has come to plunge even deeper into the disturbing darkness of the beyond. This mysterious and sinister post-black tribute to the greatest horror writer and visionary of the 20th century Howard Phillips Lovecraft will penetrate your dreams and make you doubt the rationality of existence.

ULTAR is a five-piece band from the heart of Siberia, Krasnoyarsk town, which is placed amidst the howling woods and red mountains. In genre terms, the band could be thought of as sonic alchemists who blend ingredients from black metal, post-metal, and shoegaze, with a talent for creating dramatic melodies that have emotional intensity as well as staying power.

The overwhelming epicness of the ULTAR shows brings you the majestic triumph of the Lovecraftian Elder Gods, an unforgettable experience full of truly intense emotions.

The band's first two albums Kadath and PANTHEON MMXIX have received highly positive feedback from all over the world, not only from the listeners but also from the top media such as Metal Hammer, Loudwire and Terrorizer as well. It also led them to Loudwire’s “10 Up-and-Coming Metal Bands You Need to Hear in 2019” and to play numerous opening shows with such bands as Behemoth, Cradle of Filth, Myrkur, Carach Angren, Suffocation, Vltimas, Hate, Wiegedood, Alcest, Swallow the Sun, Harakiri for the Sky, and The Ocean.

Kansas City thrashers HELLEVATE will kick off 2023 with the release of The Purpose is Cruelty. The band’s newest EP features five aggressive tracks of classic speed/thrash metal with a modern attack. A violent hybrid of East Coast and Bay Area thrash, The Purpose of Cruelty shows why HELLEVATE has been called “a new hope for thrash” (All Around Metal).

The Purpose is Cruelty will be out on January 14, 2023.

Tracklist:
The Purpose is Cruelty
 Dagon
 Buried Under Mistakes
 Die or Be Killed
 (No) Further Action is Required

Playing melodic thrash metal with a mixture of extreme and power metal thrown in to keep listeners on their toes, HELLEVATE draws from across the spectrum of sounds to forge the most potent of heavy metal. The band was formed in the late 2000s by guitarist Dan Whitmer, and while it has experienced several lineup changes, the band has found its superior form with the addition of Zack Burke, Joshua Cole, RJ Whitmer, and new singer Robert Browne.

HELLEVATE’s debut was released in 2012 and was followed up in 2014 with the EP Kill Confirmed and the album Weapons Against Their Will in 2016. Singles “Last of the Fell” and “Krampusnacht” were released in 2018 and 2019, respectively. The band’s new EP, The Purpose Is Cruelty, is the culmination of the work the band has put in up to this point. Packed with riffs across a spectrum of sounds and the razor-sharp vocals of Robert, HELLEVATE seeks to make a statement with the release.

The band has established itself by sharing the bill with many nationally touring bands, including Exodus, Kreator, Accept, Overkill, Destruction, Ghoul, Venom Inc., and Danzig, just to name a few. With a great lineup and a bright future ahead of them, HELLEVATE continues to grow as a musical force in the metal world and intends to dominate and annihilate for many years to come.

Knogjärn - Vad Vill Du Ha ( Indie Recordings Impact: 23 November 2022 Release: 23 November 2022 )

It´s time for yet another Knogjärn drop, and with their new single Vad Vill Du Ha, the band are also launching the pre-order of their brand new album Mera Bedövning due Jan. 27th 2023.

Vad vill du ha is a powerful and energetic song, infused by anger and driven by attitude.

Knogjärn mixes heavy melodies with fierce vocals, and though unmistakably Knogjärnesk, the band still manages to renew themselves and bring new influences into this hell of a track.

Knogjärn comment:

“Vad vill du ha” (What do you want?) is about how people strive for perfection, without knowing what it is they are working for. How we spend so much time trying to hide our imperfections and our downfalls, instead of telling things straight.”

FFO: Metallica, KORN , Lok, Lillasyster, Glucifer

"A house, high on a hill, filled with a mystical air."

Emerging from the burgeoning Ordo Vampyr Orientis circle, metal entity BAD MANOR's energetic and whimsical debut The Haunting weaves a series of dark tales surrounding the band's titular mansion. Inhabited by dark spirits and curses alike, BAD MANOR’s vision of metal looks not to grim forests and minimal musical ideas but rather vivid, imagination-driven scenes, curious tales, and sinister, active musical ideas alike. Featuring a paired book illustrated by artist Landis Blair and with stories recounted by the mysterious author and medium Stephen R.C. Sicreeve, The Haunting’s multidisciplinary approach to metal–filled with secrets and hidden passages–is as sprawling and chaotic as the house itself. Lose yourself in its hallways, but don't let yourself disappear. Listeners and readers alike: beware.

Each new homage becomes a portrait, each new portrait becomes our legend.

ALLAGASH / BRAINLESS / TITAN'S WRATH / INTENT

Canadian Sci-Fi heavymetallers ALLAGASH put out their “Dark Future” on a green cassette

Allagash are a quintet, from Newfoundland, Canada. Formed 2015, initially designed as a side project centred around aliens and unsolved mysteries, specifically pertaining to the Allagash abductions, the plan was to release a vinyl album, via crowdfunding. The plan worked. Cassette tapes were added. Everything sold out fast, including additional band merch. Allagash created a new EP, ‘Canadian Encounters’ (2018). Subsequently, the following positive acclaim brought gigs performing alongside renowned bands Voivod and Anvil. Raw Skull, from the Netherlands, then re-released their material, on CD, throughout Europe.

This, their 2nd album, ‘Cryptic Visions’, was launched in 2019.

Fast forward to 2022. Allagash put their, originally shelved, 2016 demo  as the 3rd album out. Initially an independent cassette, it’s awaiting the release date via renowned Marquee Records.

US powermetallers TITAN’S WRATH herald their sophomore EP “Will Of The Beast” with a title track single

Titan’s Wrath just finished their second EP, “Will of the Beast”, and will be releasing it independently on December 9, 2022 on all major streaming platforms.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvxeNjXYJ0w

Titan’s Wrath considers itself to be a Traditional Heavy Metal Band, but also pulls influences from the Bay Area Thrash, German Power Metal, Swedish Death Metal, and NWOBHM bands to create a unique sound that fans of newer and older metal music can appreciate.

With vocals on par with renowned metal singers, melodic guitar riffs and fast double bass, Titan’s Wrath looks to redefine heavy metal all while celebrating the various influences that molded the band together.

Titan’s Wrath was formed at the end of 2019 originally under the name Leviathan. After playing a couple shows in the beginning of 2020, Leviathan looked to record their first demo only for the pandemic to derail their recording plans. After a couple of months of quarantine, Leviathan regrouped and decided to change the band’s name to Titan’s Wrath and went through some lineup changes. The lineup as of today consists of Garret (vocals), Tito (guitar), Riley (guitar), Dennis (bass) - (ex-Heretic, ex-Reverend) and Angel (drums).

In September of 2020, Titan’s Wrath recorded a demo which would be followed up by the band’s first EP titled “Into the Abyss”, which was released in April of 2021. Since then, Titan’s Wrath has played all over Southern California and has been featured in metal magazines and radio shows across the world.

Xeno - Reconstruction (Art Gates Records 16 November 2022 )

BIO
The sound of Xeno can be described as Modern Metal, influenced by all kinds of musical styles. From hardhitting riffs that make you want to bang your head off, to intimate instrumental passages, the band uses what sounds and feels right to them and delivers it with passion.

Xeno has released it's first album in 2016, which has received excellent reviews. Since then the band has recruited some new talent and is striving to write even better material. The band is notorious for the intense and powerful live performances. Because of that, they have shared the stage with Voivod, Spoil Engine and Carach Angren, among others.

The artwork of the EP has been created by Mohammad Behrouzi and represents the cycle of past, present and future, and creation and perdition. Xeno's belief is that these concepts are all intimately connected in one cycle, with our consciousness at the centre of all decisions which create our past, destroy our future, and/or vice versa..

"Reconstruction" has been mixed by Gyan Klomp and mastered by Nacho Molino and It will be released on November 16th 2022 by Art Gates Records.

Ruben Willemsen - Vocals, Bass

Line-up:
All music, instruments, vocals & lyrics by Ovfrost except:
Lyrics for The Death Bell by Archais.
Drums performed and recorded by Vladimir Udarnov.

Founded by Ovfrost in 2017 in Moscow, Russia, MALIST is a Black Metal solo-project that combines the boisterous grit of the second wave classics with modern melodic and atmospheric elements.

Albums 1-3 form a conceptual trilogy. "Karst Relict" completes this trilogy of the Karst Realm and the path of a nameless hero through its vast nether halls and mountain hollows.

Powerful riffs, melodic layering, diverse vocals & atmospheric elements are trademarks of Malist’s sound since day one, and while the music has developed a lot since the debut, these same elements are very much apparent on the 4th album, too. And yet it is another leap forward, propelling Malist into harsher, more unforgiving territories, befitting the darkness that is expressed by the lyrics.

”As I Become Darkness” spits on the filthy godhood-aspiring rulers of men who encroach on human flesh, manipulate the weak and stigmatize whole nations. It is an exploration of war, existence and death. A personal, grim journey drenched in misanthropy, this album presents a darker side of Malist than ever heard before.

For fans of Finnish Black Metal, Lord Belial, Ragnarok, Immortal

All vocals & instruments performed and recorded by Ovfrost, except drums performed and recorded by Vladimir Udarnov.
Mixed and mastered by Vladimir Lehtinen (Blastbear Sound).

HYEENA: Boston-Based Act With Ex-Members Of Ligeia And More To Release Debut LP, Freedom From The Default, On Innerstrength Records; MetalSucks Premieres “Bring On The Storm” Video

Watch HYEENA’s “Bring On The Storm” video HERE.

Innerstrength Records announces Freedom From The Default, the debut full-length album from Boston, Massachusetts-based post-metalcore band HYEENA. While the album is being arranged for release in the Spring months, an advance single has been issued, as MetalSucks premieres an official video for the lead single, “Bring On The Storm.”

HYEENA was formed in 2019 by Keith Holuk and Austin Bryant. Holuk was formerly the vocalist for Ligeia and sang on the Ferret Music-released Bad News and Your Ghost Is A Gift albums. Following Ligeia, he joined Ireland based band Hero In Error and spent time touring and recording with them. Bryant is a Boston-based percussionist, performer, and educator who has studied with such performers as Fred Buda, Jeffrey Fischer, Dave Dicenso, Bob Gullotti, and James Murphy. The duo is now joined by live bassist Mike Verlizzo.

Striving to go in a different direction than previous endeavors, the band aimed to create a post-metalcore sound with wild vocals, melodic singing, and energetic lyrics. They drew from their influences such as the Deftones, Gojira, and Of Mice And Men when they set about writing material, adding the occasional metalcore breakdown for good measure.

HYEENA went on to catch the ear of Frankie Palmeri, vocalist for Emmure. Together they released their debut EP, Glory, on his then newly formed Redzone Records in 2020. Unfortunately, it was just in time for Covid and the band’s plan to tour and support the EP were put on hold. Instead, the band spent the next two years honing their sound and writing new material.

Having revamped their style since the release of Glory, HYEENA is now prepared to burst forth with their debut LP, Freedom From The Default. With eleven new tracks, the album was produced, mixed, and mastered by Keith Holuk, with the drums recorded by Austin Bryant.

The first single preceding Freedom From The Default is “Bring On The Storm.” Holuk states of the song, “‘Bring On The Storm’ is a song that was initially more intricate, but it was simplified to get more to the heart of the vibe. Lyrically, it’s attempting to lay out some of the concepts of how to rewire to the mindset of positive thinking. I definitely didn’t write very positive lyrics back in the day with Ligeia which worked with that therapeutic direction, and I obviously needed that outlet back then. I think that it was very helpful to me and the people who connected with that type of expression. In retrospect, I feel as if it may have contributed to adding more troubles in my life that were unnecessary so it’s something that I wanted to change for the better, for me and for the listeners. Maybe it’s a style that doesn’t usually go with metal core, but I didn’t want to toxify people’s minds with negativity that could attract more problems just for the sake of venting. I wanted the lyrics for HYEENA to be more helpful and hopefully more fun!”

The official video for “Bring On The Storm” was filmed by Mike Verlizzo and edited by Anthony Altamura, and makes its public debut today through MetalSucks, who writes with its premiere, “You’ve likely not heard of the Boston-based post-hardcore outfit HYEENA just yet, but after hearing their first single ‘Bring On The Storm,’ you may want to make sure they’re on your radar moving forward.”

Tune in to MetalSucks to watch HYEENA’s “Bring On The Storm” video first RIGHT HERE.

“Bring On The Storm” is also now streaming on all digital services.

Stand by for additional announcements on HYEENA as Innerstrength Records finalizes Freedom From The Default for release on digital, vinyl, and CD platforms this Spring, and the band announces widespread touring in support of the record.

DEFEATED SANITY released The Sanguinary Impetus in 2020 via Willowtip Records. The critically-acclaimed album is available at:

"The Sanguinary Impetus is Defeated Sanity's finest hour, it's freakishly chaotic, frequently unnerving, and stupefyingly complex from start to finish."
- Metal Injection

"Brilliant and freaking brutal!"
- Zero Tolerance

“The Sanguinary Impetus is a masterfully well done technical and brutal album." (9/10)
- Metal Temple

"The Sanguinary Impetus is one of Defeated Sanity‘s best releases so far in a long and accomplished career."
- No Clean Singing

"Anyone who is a fan of Brutal Death Metal needs this album and anyone who is looking to get into the genre, pick this up and you will understand immediately why the band is so highly regarded in the Extreme Metal World." (10/10)
- Rock 'N' Load Magazine

"Just as visceral as anything else Defeated Sanity has done, with all of the technical additions to give you even more to chew on, The Sanguinary Impetus manages to indulge in the best of both worlds. A continued force within the realm of brutality, Defeated Sanity continue to be a high water mark." (8.5/10)
- Dead Rhetoric

"Another gem from the legends that are Defeated Sanity!" (5/5)
- The Metal Wanderlust

"With The Sanguinary Impetus, we’re gifted with truly an awe-engulfing series of anachronisms and renegade ingenuity, drawing from all over tech-metal tradition to deliver something that could only exist in the late 2010’s to 2020. It is by and far Defeated Sanity’s strongest work to date." (4.5/5)
- Toilet ov Hell

"The Sanguinary Impetus is Defeated Sanity’s most furious, vicious, heaviest and technical sounding album to date. Fans of Suffocation, Cryptopsy, Deeds Of Flesh and Disgorge should not pass up this magnificent masterpiece." (9.5/10)
- Metal Purgatory Media

"Buy it for yourself, buy it for your grandparents, and throw yet another Defeated Sanity album into the time capsule to help future archaeologists understand why their ancestors ended up unrelentingly deheading the populace into insignificance."
- Last Rites

"An incredibly listenable gateway to the deep end of death metal. The rest of us are already well aware of their prowess, and with The Sanguinary Impetus comes an easy entry into the shortlist for album of the year."
- Heavy Blog is Heavy

"New listeners can prepare themselves to be blown away, while old fans can expect more greatness from this legendary band!"
- Noob Heavy

"Not many death metal bands these days make a brutal and technical album all in the same vein, but the masters themselves Defeated Sanity yet again have done such this. Youngbloods, pay attention to this great band’s compositions if you want to be brutal and complex."
- Technical Music Review

"Defeated Sanity do not settle for solid music, they go out of their way to craft breath taking musical experiences where they take elements from all over the Death Metal genre and blend it into utter perfection. "
- The Revival Music

"It's bands like Germany's DEFEATED SANITY that define extreme music with their lack of respect for solace. Pummeling double bass, razor sharp riffs, and growls from the depths of hell all comprise the band's signature progressive death metal sound."
- Heaviest of Art

"I would recommend this album for anyone who is a fan of highly technical metal that still keeps an overtly heavy and vicious sound, such as Suffocation or Wormed."
- MoshPitNation

"DEFEATED SANITY has released a disc that we can classify between two aspects: one more classic and the other more risky, dissimilar and with high technical flying. In both cases they far exceed any score." (9/10)
- Necromance

"A bloody and dark atmosphere. The absolute massacre of the human mind!"
- Deadly Storm Zine

"Low gutturals, harsh death vox, and some of the most wonderfully over the top Prog Death Metal you could hope for."
- The Doorway To

"This band isn’t meant for the faint of heart or casuals. But fans of bands like DISGORGE, DEVOURMENT, and MALIGNANCY will certainly relish the lunacy that is The Sanguinary Impetus.”
- Wormwood Chronicles

The Sanguinary Impetus is perhaps the ultimate expression of DEFEATED SANITY's signature blend of the brutal with the technical, performed in a manner largely unparalleled in the world of extreme metal. At once comfortably recognizable and awe-inspiring, the forthcoming album is sure to be a lock for many year-end lists. Sickening riff crunch, hammering beats, and technical wizardry combine to create a level of sonic violence that won't soon be forgotten.
