WE ARE APES, HELLO! (WAAH!)

WE ARE APES, HELLO! (WAAH!) Was born to give way to alternative compositions that did not fit into other musical projects of its members, Ace (Stai Zitto, Orihen, Red Blaze, Sua Devices) and Mike (Orihen). Both members are not new on (and behind) the stage: almost 10 years of experience as musicians, roadie for bands like Su Ta Gar and studio and live technician for bands like Keniama (ACE), graphic design and video editing skills (Mike), lead both of you to put all that experience to the test in this project, WAAH!

After some time considering the possibility of recruiting a bassist to form a Power Trio, they finally chose to face the project as a duo, with a staging as striking as it is close, where they will be heard from basses, arrangements and synthesizers to environmental effects without they are not even physically present.

About his style, it can be said that they take over from the Punk Rock of the 90s, where the first Green Day or Osker left him, and they get on a car similar to the one that groups such as Beach Slang or Cloud Nothings belong to today. This is punk rock with a very pure and classic sound, which does not renounce that pop soul in the lyrics and melodies, being more personal and introspective and less social than in traditional punk. Aesthetics are very important to the band: retro video games, the world of skate and playing against each other on stage are their hallmarks.

In 2017 they released their first EP, titled “A Kind of Sickness”, self-published, which gets a good reception from both the public and critics, as it was selected as one of the outstanding demos of the year in Zarata Mondosonoro magazine. During the following year they present the work in various places on the Euskal Herria scene, at festivals such as Vertigo Rock and venues such as the Stage Live in Bilbao, sharing the stage with well-known national artists such as Def con Dos, Parabellum, Bellako or The Wizards.

In 2019 they released their second EP, “Archives of My Memory”, by Junk!, Recorded at the Pan-Pot studios in Getxo with Alberto Macías at the controls, who with his production managed to take that Punk sound to the next level -Pop 90s, who were already looking for in their previous work, thanks to the integration both on the album and live of the arrangements and synthesizers that characterize the duo.

In 2020 they recorded a Studio Live in the mythical Lorentzo Records studio in Berriz, with Aitor Ariño, making a personal dream of the band come true since they saw the first sessions of Audiotree Live or Live on KEXP. The work is available both on YouTube and on the group's official digital platforms.

Falconer reveals details for new album, ‘From a Dying Ember’

Launches first single, “Desert Dreams”
On June 26th, Sweden’s Falconer will release their new album, From A Dying Ember, via Metal Blade Records. For a preview of From A Dying Ember, the first single, “Desert Dreams”, can be heard at: metalblade.com/falconer – where the record can also be pre-ordered in the following formats:

Falconer was born out of the ashes of Mithotyn, who split-up in 1999. After disbanding, one of Mithotyn‘s founding members – Stefan Weinerhall (guitar) – had a demo for a solo project, which eventually led to the creation of the folk power metal group Falconer.
From the beginning, the band planned not to perform often live (their final tour date was at ProgPower USA in Atlanta, GA in 2015). After retiring from the stage five years ago, the band took some time off before writing a new album. Stefan decided not to rush the writing process, just to make sure the written material would be of the utmost quality. Some of the earlier material was scrapped and re-written halfway into the process; additionally, Stefan re-wrote one song with his old Mithotyn bandmate, Karl Beckmann (guitars/keyboards). The echoes from Mithotyn are surely noticeable on the track “Rapture”.
Stefan comments: “Finally, we got the chance to incorporate some keyed fiddle and bagpipe into the music – something that has always been a wish from us, just to get that extra medieval and folky feel to it. In that time, we also wrote the most intense ballad ever, which turned out to be ‘Rejoice The Adorned’ – only featuring piano, keys and strings.”
Mixed and mastered by Andy LaRocque, From A Dying Ember was also recorded at LaRocque’s Sonic Train Studio. Stefan concludes: “To sum the album up, we can say that ‘From A Dying Ember‘ has some things that really stand out from a usual Falconer album. A lot of things happening and more elements to the music than ever before!”
