”This project was created out of a desire to bring some dark, furious and melodic music in the Black Metal genre. Biggest inspiration comes from music itself, nature, art, mythologies, philosophy and literature. The name Wardra comes from the word ”Ward”- to ”Keep”, ”Protect”, ”Oversee” and ”Respect” and musically it's a mixture of elements of traditional black metal and doom metal with modern atmospheric sound. ” - Comments W, the founder of Wardra

“Our music is more like the essence of black metal. Speed, pressure, honesty, but at the same time we prefer to add melodic moments to our music, like interludes, slowdowns and synths. We try to experiment different things. This is my main project and I haven't had nor Nikita (the keyboards) particibated in any other project before. Our vocalist Dzirt.R.S. used to play bass in the band called Grauen, but that's it. Theodor (Second to Sun) is our session drummer but particibates for the drum arrangements as well.” Says Ivan , the guitarist of Logos.

"When I received mail from these bands, In the first place I paid attention to well-composed and produced material with the really dark and special cover art which made me really impressed. These both bands have an excellent sense of style to create their black metal with a traditional, but at the same time with fresh touch. This split album has about 30 minutes intensive but also very atmospheric Black Metal. There's melodic, but dark and even orchestrated parts and what I can say for the album art. It's just perfection. The Art describes both bands perfectly.

Orcrypt - Balrog & Roll Death To Music Productions Release: 31 October 2020

Balrog & Roll is the 2nd album from British Fantasy Black Metal trio Orcrypt. After becoming dormant in 2010, following the release of Mercenaries of Mordor, founding member Ugluk reactivated the band in 2018, recruiting new members Sammael on guitars, and J.R.R. Martin on vocals. Within the next year, this new line up recorded and released the demo Dice & Damnation, marking the move away from Tolkien and drone towards a new focus on riffs and fantasy role-playing games. But, even before the demo was released, Orcrypt were working on writing and recording what would become Balrog & Roll.

Recorded and then re-recorded over the course of a year, Balrog & Roll continues Orcrypt ’s exploration of deep, dark and primal Black Metal, but incorporates influences from classic rock & heavy metal. Lyrically the album explores the darkest aspects of Gary Gygax’s Dungeons & Dragons, J.R.R. Martin explains: “Dungeons & Dragons is filled with darkness, corruption and evil. Ultimately for a lot of people, the appeal of either Dungeons & Dragons or Black Metal is that it gives the opportunity for power fantasies, cathartic release and getting in touch with something deep, dark and primal. We have just merged the two.”

Balrog & Roll is scheduled for release via Death To Music Productions on October 31st 2020, both digitally and on limited CD. Pre-order your copy here: https://www.deathtomusic.com/product/orcrypt-balrog-roll/

Line-Up:
J.R.R. Martin - Vocals
Sammael - Guitars
Ugluk - Drums & Bass

Orcrypt formed in 2010. Inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and the early demos of the Norwegian Black Metal masters, they recorded and released their first demo The Mirkwood Massacre that same year. In 2015, Orcrypt unleashed their debut album. Influenced as much by Ralph Bakshi as J.R.R. Tolkien, and mastered to cassette, Mercenaries of Mordor was an unrelenting lo-fi assault of droning underground Black Metal. But then, they vanished... and resurrected.

Detachment - "Work Horse" - (Melodic Hardcore)

For fans of: Every Time I Die, Knocked Loose, Norma Jean, Code Orange

With covid canceling all of their plans, Long Island NY based hardcore act Detachment did the only thing they knew how to - write and create. This newest single release “Work Horse” is the fruit of that labor.

Detachment (known originally as “From Hollow Veins”) is the Hardcore group to look out for on Long Island, NY. They have been bringing their unique style and electrifying live performances to their local scene and the region as a whole since 2015.

In the fall of 2016, they shared the stage with bands such as Cane Hill and Sworn in, to the praise of both groups. A couple of months later they signed with The Sights Set North agency to get some true touring experience. September of 2017 they released their single entitled “Self Doubt” which received raving reviews and was featured in AP’s Spotify playlist. nearing the end of 2017, with all of the experience they gained, they made the decision to change the band name to Detachment. They took the remaining year off from touring and playing shows to write and record their debut EP.

In October of 2018 Detachment released their debut single, “Million Eyes” which was praised by websites such as Vents Magazine, Metal Nerd, Distrolution and Rock N Load magazine. That year they played shows opening for Cane Hill, Traitors and The Last Ten Seconds of Life to name a few. In 2020 they released their debut EP featuring 7 tracks showcasing their individuality, energy and talent.

Chaos Doctrine (South Africa) Enlists Demether Grail From Russian Folk Metal / Deathcore Band Zmey Gorynich For Father Grigori Alt Version - For Release Next Friday 30 October

Brutal Russian Version Of Father Grigori
(Отец Григорий)

Industrial Metal Machine Chaos Doctrine (South Africa)
Enlists Demether Grail From Russian Folk Metal / Deathcore Band Zmey Gorynich
(Змей Горыныч)

Just when you thought Chaos Doctrine was done obliterating your eardrums with their mammoth track Father Grigori, the Industrial Metal Machine from South Africa is back with a brutal Russian version (Отец Григорий) featuring Demether Grail from Russian Folk Metal / Deathcore Band Zmey Gorynich (Змей Горыныч)

As if this 180-bpm prodigious track was not already vicious enough, the scathing "lubok-core" vocals of Demether Grail chunters the tune to an even murkier level, resonating with the dark subject matter marred by the life and times of the notorious Russian Monk Grigori Rasputin!

Chaos Doctrine comments that “A short while after we finished writing Father Grigori, we had the idea of getting a Russian vocalist to collaborate with us on it, specifically for an alternate version that can go onto our next EP (our first EP, The Chaos Chronicles Volume I, contains alternate versions of tracks from our debut album). We knew that Russian would give it a new and unique feel, and bring a rawness that comes with the language! We didn’t know where to start looking – but our good buddy France the Planet referred us to a great female metal vocalist Anna Hel, who is involved with Russian Industrial Band Conflict. She, in turn, referred us to Demether Grail, who is involved with a load of great metal bands in Russia.

Demether has a great voice, is really into Rasputin himself too, and fully understood what we wanted to do. With us having translated our track “The Genocide Number” into Afrikaans for our EP, we knew that this is no easy feat – it is not only about the lyrics, but also the rhyme and meter of the song. But, Demether did a better job than we could have ever hoped for – he took our track, re-wrote all the lyrics, and blended the words to fit into awesome rhythms. He stuck to the original themes but fully made the track his own, and his vocal is raw and brutal, bringing a fresh and hateful edge that would make the mad monk proud! We knew Russian vocals would up the ante on this track – but we didn’t know just how much. So, we decided this is far too great to hold back for our 2021 EP release – hence us throwing it into the world now!”

Demether Grail adds that “It's an interesting story. Anna wrote to me and said that probably I would be the best guy to work with Chaos Doctrine on translating an English track about Rasputin into Russian, and to do the vocals for it. I have been writing lyrics and cross translating for a long time, for my own bands and other Russian bands, so this was no problem for me. I decided to add in quite a bit of my own into the Russian version – firstly because I am very well acquainted with the story of Grigori Rasputin, and secondly, because I translate one hundred percent literally. I made sure to keep to the original vocal rhythm as much as possible and stuck to a more timbre vocal, rather than the black metal style I usually use. Chaos Doctrine was my first international collaboration and the mix came out perfect!”

Chaos Doctrine is an Industrial Metal band from Johannesburg (South Africa) and the brainchild of vocalist Dr D (Bedlam, Malachi, DedX) and guitarist Ray (Malachi, Stone The Free, DedX), who wanted to create a unique blend of Classic Thrash and Death with newer waves of Metal and Industrial. Formed in 2010 with bassist Phil (DedX) and drummer Ralph (Sacrifist, Tyburn, Misericord), the band had a few member changes before enrolling guitarist Alec (Sacraphyx, The Warinsane) in 2013. Mid 2019, Ray and Ralph left Chaos Doctrine. Early in 2020, the drum throne was taken by Rory Townes (Forsaking Fate).

For Chaos Doctrine, Metal is aggression. Everything they produce conveys this! Their sound is the result of combining the power of Classic Metal with a modern edge and raw Industrial sound. Their lyrical content explores the shadow of the human condition; hatred, brutality, decay. Their approach is unrelenting, fuelled by rage and void apology ...

This is aggression, this is Chaos Doctrine!
