SIGNIFICANT POINT stream DYING VICTIMS debut at "Decibel" magazine's website

Today, Japanese heavy metal attackers Significant Point stream the entirety of their highly anticipated debut album, Into the Storm, at Decibel magazine's website. Set for international release on February 26th via Dying Victims Productions, hear Significant Point's Into the Storm in its entirety exclusively HERE.

Hailing from Japan, Significant Point was formed by guitarists Kazuki Kuwagaki and Gou Takeuchi in March 2011. Holding high the banner of old-school speed/heavy metal, they started playing live shows in Tokyo. Through a lot of member changes, Significant Point released their first demo, Attacker!, in 2014 and the Live at Tokyo CD in 2017. In 2018, the two-song EP Attacker was released on 7” vinyl by France’s Inferno Records, and it received a good reaction in the underground scene.

Itormentor (drums) and Kazuhiro Watanabe (bass) joined in 2016 and 2018, respectively, and the current lineup of Significant Point was at last finalized. In 2019, they started recording their first album. With great help from George Itoh (Risingfall / Military Shadow), it was completed in September 2020 after a year and a half of effort.

Fittingly bearing the title Into the Storm, Significant Point’s debut album is indeed a monsoon of heavy metal mayhem, spanning traditional and epic styles to speed metal and even early power metal. The band live and breathe heavy metal in all its classicist forms, and the quintet know the intrinsic power of hooks and especially variety, both of which are found bountifully across Into the Storm. With enviable ease, Significant Point marry masterful execution to high drama whilst never losing the importance of actual songs – in other words, no style over substance here. Truly, you will NOT be able to get any of these 10 anthems outta your head, and large credit is due to the poetic dual-guitar interplay of Kuwagaki and Takeuchi; dazzling to say the very least, their leads and solos are almost another singing voice. Which is to take nothing away from the rest of the band, who bring together melodic bass-work, tastefully propulsive drumming, and the high-pitched metal-warrior vocals of George Itoh to create a veritable orchestra of sound.

While the bulk of the lyrics are in English, the unique tonal qualities of Japanese lend Into the Storm comparisons to Loudness’ early, proto-epic metal albums like Devil Soldier and The Law of Devil’s Land. But casting one’s metallic gaze further across continents (and decades), Significant Point significantly point to myriad elements of such legends as Grim Reaper, Metal Church, Sinner, Cloven Hoof, and Omen on to the culter likes of Shok Paris, Liege Lord, Sortilege, Agent Steel, and Savage Grace, all with a firm grounding in the classics of Scorpions, Rainbow, Judas Priest, UFO, and Iron Maiden. Any way you slice it, the katana of Significant Point is deadly, so prepare to go Into the Storm!

PERFORMED stream SLOVAK METAL ARMY debut at Friedhof-Magazine.com

Today, Slovakian thrashers Performed stream their highly anticipated debut album, Moronia, at heavily trafficked web-portal Friedhof-Magazine.com. Set for international release on February 25th via Slovak Metal Army, hear Performed's Moronia in its entirety exclusively HERE.

The thrash metal band Performed was formed by drummer Peter Chalupčík and guitarist/vocalist Martin Majdan in 2003 in Prievidza, Slovakia. At the end of 2004, second guitarist Richard Adamec joins the band, and the group's first small concert takes place in Prievidza. The lineup is completed by bass player Ondrej Kušnír.

Performed practice hard and in 2005 play several concerts in Prievidza, Bratislava, Nitra, and Zlaté Moravce. The core of the live set at that time consists mainly of Metallica's repertoire. After starting to write original songs, as usual, the personnel changes start indeed. The band works hard until 2009 and introduces the debut EP Thick Fume of Dependencies with Maroš Pieš on solo guitar and Lukáš Neuschl on bass. Reactions to it are mostly positive. This lineup play concerts for new EP support and also visit its neighbours in the Czech Republic.

Since 2012, Peter and Martin have gone through some kind of stagnation in the pair, but they keep Performed alive, and after completing the lineup with bassist Marián Lukáč and Radovan Kľuvanec on second guitar, and after a hard rehearsal of new songs, they perform at a club in Kanianka near their home of Prievidza. The setlist with the new material has a great response, and there is immediate talk of an excellent return to the scene. Since then, the band is active in concert again and finishes songs for a long-playing album.

Performed's comeback concert in Kanianka attracts domestic scene support from Slovak Metal Army - so much so that they come up with an offer to release the band's debut album. Titled Moronia, the band records it with new solo guitarist Martin Súkeník, and it will be released worldwide on February 25th.

The Return Of SPIRAL GRAVE: Long-Awaited Debut Album Coming This Year On Argonauta Records!

It feels like a legacy, but most likely a news that will make every doom heart beat faster: Members of the final lineup of doom legends IRON MAN, have announced their return with SPIRAL GRAVE!

SPIRAL GRAVE, comprised of vocalist Screaming Mad Dee, Iron Louis Strachan (bass), Mot Waldmann on drums and former LORD guitarist Willy Rivera – whose aggressive riffing sets the mood for the band’s heavy as hell, in your face doom – was born after the tragic death of IRON MAN founding member Alfred Morris III.

They quickly carved a place for themselves in North America’s heavy music scene, playing well-received sets at New England Stoner Doom Fest or the Maryland Doomfest. Their first single, Nothing, was released by Salt of the Earth Records in mid-2019. But finally the wait is over, since SPIRAL GRAVE have just announced to release their long- awaited debut album, entitled Legacy of the Anointed, in 2021 through Argonauta Records; the Italian powerhouse label and home for all that is heavy, who not only released Dee Calhoun’s recent solo records but also IRON MAN's Hail To The Riff, due out on March 5th!

Says guitarist Willy Rivera about SPIRAL GRAVE's upcoming debut:

"Some of the musical ideas that ended up as songs on our debut were initially written while I was still with my previous band but with a rift growing between myself and the other members over personal and musical differences, I decided to hold onto them til I was able to find the right vehicle for them. I wanted to step away from the extremity of my former band and get back to writing songs that were heavy but had hooks and a strong vocal presence. For this band, I wanted to draw from bands such as Dio-era Sabbath, Candlemass, Metal Church, Armored Saint, Mountain, UFO and Judas Priest with enough experimentation that would allow us to branch out on future releases. I wanted that to be the template and I found like-minded friends in the surviving members of Iron Man. I’ve known Dee for over a decade and met Lou and Mot from the scene and affiliations and while I knew working with them would bring certain expectations due to the legendary status of Iron Man, I was hopeful in what we could create and had a gut feeling that it would be great. I was very aware of the fact that you only get one shot to make your 1st impression and being that I was writing a lot of the initial ideas,it meant that I had a lot to prove...not to mention, the scrutiny that I may encounter from people who perceived me as somehow trying to replace Al Morris but you can’t replace a legend so you just try to make your own mark. So Spiral Grave is a new band with a debut album that I think will do justice to not only the scene we come from but those who helped pave the way...“

MYLANE present their debut single SAVE YOURSELF 🔥

Mylane is an Italian alternative metal band formed in 2019 and composed by guitar player Andrea Curti, Fulvio Santarpia on drums, frontman of the band is Pietro Canette and Luca Maddonini as bass player.

Their style is characterized by the wise succession of dynamic guitar sounds and powerful riffs a la Breaking Benjamin, which enhance a clean and enveloping voice reminiscent of Matt Walst, lead singer of Three Days Grace, assisted by electronic and orchestral parts a la RED.

Today, February 22nd 2020, Mylane released their first single Save Yourself.

The song was recorded, mixed and mastered by Gianluca Guidetti at Accademia Del Suono and co-produced together with the band itself.

Pietro, the singer of the band, says: "This song tells about a distorted vision in life: you get up and you're already fighting against yourself because you don't fit the world they have built around you and you don't fit how they have always told you to behave. Looking yourself in the mirror you see the most unconscious and hidden part of you, which knows exactly what you have to do: save yourself and just don't care about anybody."

Enjoy.

The video was filmed by Mario Luca Gallo and Mattia Caccia, edited by Twoem Films and Fulvio Santarpia.

Biography

The band started in 2005 under the name "Teach Children to Worship Satan". One song (Cyclops) remains from this early period, written by then guitarist Irem, re-arranged and eventually recorded years later. Fredrik Alerud is to be the growler for some years to come and long time riff-forger Börna took over after the departure of Irem around 2007. With the introduction of new bass-player Piotr in 2010, the band was starting to take the form we recognise today, refining their sound and changing the name to "Fist Fight". Writing riffs and drinking beers into 2014 they're hearing some interesting bass playing further down the corridor. The young bassist Hampus was persuaded to pick up the lead-guitar and join, making Fist Fight a five-piece. The first demo recording was produced this same year. Playing some festival-shows here and there, the main focus is put on writing. During the next 3 years the band tries several different growlers, with the eyes on a full-length album. Finally settling with the voice of Joel Nylén and changing the name to Odeum Deus, debut album "Fist Fight" is recorded in a matter of days and released independently in 2018. The first album is released while the band is already in the studio again, now with legendary producer Tomas Skogsberg in hunt of the metal sound. It is to be released as "Knife Fight" in 2019. The collaboration works out great with Skogsberg and they decide to do it all again with another album, improving what they've done on the previous album with the writing and production. Their earlier releases caught the interest of record label WormHoleDeath and this new third album is signed with them to be released worldwide in 2021.

Backdrop Falls Releases Video for “Big Lie” Inspired by 90s MTV

Backdrop Falls just released the music video for "Big Lie", one of the highlights of the band's debut album.
The video, directed by drummer Roger Capone, was inspired by the aesthetics of recurring clips on the programming of the old MTV in the 90s and 2000s and of the station itself, alternating live performance takes with acting scenes and showing this time a comic vein of the band. Check out the music video for "Big Lie": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zFyjMr10O6Y

"Big Lie" ends the quartet's cycle around their first album. The guys are currently in the pre-production process for their next unreleased album, with release scheduled for 2021.
