Råtten - Roi-De-Rats (Black Metal/France)

Out of disillusionment and morbid sounds, is born Råtten, a tortured entity who writhes and self-harms in endless agony and countless cries of anguish. Theirs is an expression of despair and utter discomfort with existence while awaiting total annihilation.
Formed in 2019 with members of Deveikuth or Djabah, Roi-De-Rats is the first album of this French black metal trio, a torn debut with some doom and crust punk touches, which starts from Darkthrone until reaching the dragged point of Aura Noir, Craft or Arnaut Pavle in certain instants. Their album even brings some psychedelic and dissonant approaches that may remind us of Oranssi Pazuzu, as for example in ‘Tumulte Des Ombres’, and evokes the eternal enslaving control of the powerful over the weak.
Limited to 150 copies, this new Negra Nit’ digipack CD is an invitation to voluntary confinement, an escape, a fast-track flight from any relationship with an exasperating humanity and a meaningless life.
Roi-De-Rats is like a piece of bloody meat that you are forced to gobble down without going over the coals, without salt or any seasoning. Raw French black for raw people.

March Release: Zeit - "Betonkrebs"( Black Sludge Grindcore/Germany)For fans of Carnivore, Nasum, Japanische Kampfhörspiele, Dying Fetus, Napalm Death...

Light, sweet and majorly pissed off - time is running out but social deviations get worse by the minute. Ecologically at a crossroads, humankind is long lost. Offer yourself alast respect and tune in to the swan song for the crown of exhaustion and dwell your sorrows in 24 short musical substitutes.

First Doom, now Grind? Yes! "Betonkrebs" stands in the tradition of the wayward ZEIT-EPs and intones his disdain far away from this band’s known paths. While the "null."-EP ventured in the realm of funeral doom, this EP explores the world of Grind and Punk. For this project we started by taking our old song "Stillstand" again and simply played it as fast as possible (for us) this time.

Most Lyrics on "Betonkrebs" are written in German, the most hateful language there is, and are about all the bullshit we had to endure during the last year. And by that we don't mean a global pandemic but the endless human stupidity that perpetuated all over the globe.

TYGERS OF PAN TANG - ‘Majors and Minors’

Hard to believe that we are already over two months into 2021! And … in  those two months the band have been hard at work. They have already developed a great working relationship with Francesco who is showing that he understands what makes a great Tygers tune.  Writing for the next album is well underway and demos of proposed tracks have already been recorded.

Here is brief run through of what’s happening and something that will become a feature of the next 5 newsletters - ‘My Life in Music’. This month it features Mr Jack Meille.

New Record Deal
The band have signed a new record deal with Mighty Music with whom they have made their last two albums. Robb commented: ‘I have had record deals with one of the biggest companies in the world and some of the smallest ones but by far the best record company I have ever signed to is Mighty Music. We have a fantastic working relationship and we hope to make many more records with them’.

Majors and Minors
The new Tygers compilation ‘Majors and Minors’ is released on the 28th of May. Formats are CD, black vinyl and very limited edition 180 gram vinyl in three colours (grey, white and yellow swirl). Tracks are taken from Animal Instinct, Ambush, 2016 and Ritual,  together with a  couple of ‘special’ additions.
Pre-order from the official bandshop targetshop.dk/tygers-of-pan-tang or your local record pusher.

New Single
Track titles for the 3 track vinyl single are:-

  1. A New Heartbeat
  2. Red Mist
  3. Killers (remake of the Wildcat track)

So, if you want to join the fun and have a crack at designing the  front sleeve send your design to:
 tygerssingle@yahoo.com

All you need to remember that it must be size of a 12” album sleeve or, if smaller, in proportion to that. There are no rules on what should and shouldn’t be on the cover. But … don’t include the track title or the band’s name. We will do that, if necessary, afterwards. The winning design will get your name on the cover, a  pack of Tygers merch, a special Facebook/Instagram post, a couple of free tickets to a gig of your choice plus a signed copy of the single.  Entries must be received by the last day in April. Exact release date isn’t set but it will most likely be late Summer.

Touring
The band are currently cancelling/booking gigs on a daily basis. The most recent set of gigs to be booked are posted on Facebook. We have a very special gig with our friends Diamond Head and Rock Goddess at KK’s Steel Mill in Wolverhampton – so look out for that one.

My Life in Music – Jack Meille.
The first record I bought was : Queen, “A Night at The Opera” December 1976
The last record I listened to was: The Rolling Stones “Goat's Head Soup” deluxe edition, the CD containing unreleased songs, such as “Scarlet” with Jimmy Page guesting on lead guitar
Favourite single: All time favorite single? This year single? It's a tough one. This year single would be “Box in My Head” by BOC; today as my All Times favourite single I would go for  “Slow Ride” from Foghat
Favourite album: I got a list of 5, so if I have to pick one will be “Who's Next” by The Who.
My Saturday night music is: laid back Americana, something like the Jayhawks or Tedeschi Trucks Band...
My Sunday morning music is: I need some good ol' r'n'r to wake up on Sunday, so it will be something like AC/DC
Vinyl, CD or MP3?: CD
Album I wouldn’t part with: King Crimson “In the Court of the Crimson King”
My cult special: Kiss
The record that you might not think I would listen to is: Elvis Costello and Burt Bacharach, “Painted From Memory”
The record that changed my life was: Pink Floyd “The Dark Side of The Moon”
My music on the tour bus is: I got my own playlist on Spotify I made for a club in Florence, “Nofbynight – Jack Meille”, go and check it out!
First Tygers gig: January 2005, Butlins
The band that inspired me to  make music is: Kiss
Favourite guitar player: Jimmy Page
Favourite bass player: Boz Burrell
Favourite singer: Robert Plant
Favourite drummer: Cozy Powell
First gig I went to: The first rock gig was Def Leppard in 1983
The best gig I have ever been to is: Led Zeppelin O2 arena 2007, a dream come true
The gig I would like to watch again: Neil Young, every gig is a special one
Worst gig ever: not one that I remember, I'm a lucky guy
Gig that exceeded expectations: Steven Wilson in Florence in 2016. I went expecting to be bored and I was blown away for the almost three hours set. I never missed his gigs since then.
The musician I respect most is: Robert Plant, a true inspiration for me, always
Musician I would bring back to life: Tom Petty
Favourite Tygers gig: Azkena Rock Festival, for many reasons: our performance, hanging out with Cheap Tricks in the backstage area and getting to watch John Fogerty and King's X on the same day of our show.
My all time favourite Tygers track is: “Gangland” from the Classic era, and “Only the Brave” since I joined the band.

SEIDE - "Auakistla" - Black Metal from France!

Here comes the darkness through the highly anticipated third album of the french black metallers Seide.

Since 2007, Seide has not followed any rules apart from its own. Born as a trio, a dark emanation inspired by the original Samael, the Parisian entity is evolving fast. From their first self-produced mini-album Dogma (2009), the now quartet has proven to be capable of alternating rapid tempos and discordant complaints. A singular, racy mixture of black metal 'secondwave' 90 s and doom and thrash hints with a timeless patina. This free horde became a quintet with the addition of a second guitarist sharpening its weapons on a first warrior LP, Here Is No Truth released in 2011 (Unlight - Drakkar Productions). Naar Zeroth becomes the new drummer and permanently inscribes his strength and influences.

It took six years to give birth to a second and more ambitious album Beyond The Fallacy in 2017, pushing further the stylistic forays already present in the first album. The distinguished guests bring an incredible touch: Kvarforth of Shining on vocals on the epic “Ångest”, Blasphemer of Aura Noir / ex-Mayhem on solos and Louise Leverd on cello on the haunting “Les Nuits Sans Lune” (Moonless nights). A true maestria emerges from this second effort, produced once again at the Hybreed Studio (Glorior Belli, Temple Of Baal, Arkhon Infaustus, Monolith…).

Three years later, Seide returns with Auakistla, "drought" in Náhuatl, an ancient pre-Columbian language whose culture is dear to the band. A striking third episode in its declared war against dogma. Once again a quartet, the band refocuses on the essential, digests its influences to deliver an incandescent charge. French has become the main language on this album with dark roots, a monolith of blackness bursting into the future. The texts are always chiseled and sarcastic, the riffing in the service of the subject, cursed psalm declaimed, belched or whispered by the ambivalent Count D. The immersive experience is accentuated by the participation of ZarC (Enemy Of The Enemy) on the saxophone on “La Danse des Pendus” and “Sécheresse”.

This opus was recorded at the Hybreed Studio and mixed/mastered by Julien Hovelaque (Ave Tenebrae, L'Éclat du Déclin) and distils deceptive melodies under the thread of a glowing red blade, driven by a band at the top of its power.

Recorded with Andrew Guillotin at Groovy Studio (Paris, Fr.)  (Glorior Belli, Temple Of Baal, Arkhon Infaustus, Monolith...)
Bass on tracks 1.2.4 engineered by Gewn Kerjan @ Slab Sound Studio (www.slabsoundstudio.com)
Mixed & mastered by Julien Hovelaque (Ave Tenebrae, L'Éclat du Déclin,...)
