HEAVY SENTENCE premiere new track at "Deaf Forever" magazine's website, set release date for DYING VICTIMS debut

On May 28th internationally, Dying Victims Productions and Crypt of the Wizard will release Heavy Sentence's highly anticipated debut album, Bang to Rights, on CD and cassette tape (DVP) and vinyl LP (CotW) formats. And today, Deaf Forever magazine's website reveals the new title track "Age of Fire." Hear Heavy Sentence's "Age of Fire" in its entirety exclusively HERE.

One of the hottest propositions in the UK’s resurgent traditional metal scene, Heavy Sentence have kept the emphasis on quality over quantity since their formation in the mid-2010s. Just like the early days of the NWOBHM, Heavy Sentence made their recorded debut with a two-song 7” in 2017, followed a year later by another two-song 7”. Both graced with stark, gritty, but endearingly basement-level cover art, these two singles evinced an ageless verve and vivacity in stark contrast with the band’s meager years. And yet, Heavy Sentence include among their ranks scene veterans who do or have done time in labelmates Aggressive Perfector, Wode, Exxxekutioner, Sump, and Wóddréa Mylenstede among others, so perhaps that inherent wisdom should be no surprise…. Either way, with just four songs to their name and a clutch of raucous live gigs, anticipation has been feverish for a full-length.

At last, it arrives bearing the call-to-arms title Bang to Rights. Tight and taut at 10 songs in 37 minutes, Heavy Sentence’s debut album is a well-oiled machine of absolute ANTHEMS destined for classic status. No more but certainly no less, Bang to Rights is everything Heavy Sentence have been since the very beginning: deceptively energetic mid-tempo HEAVY METAL roughened up by the spectre of punk, much like (again) those early days of the NWOBHM. Of course, the band are apt to kick into a gallop from time to time, but the emphasis is always on go-for-the-throat songwriting that only street-walking cheetahs with hearts full of napalm can produce. Of course, Motörhead’s glorious works of the 1980s loom large here – from Iron Fist to Rock ‘n’ Roll, and even Another Perfect Day – but it’s Heavy Sentence’s attitude and charisma which triumph over all. Equally back-alley belligerent and high-adventure fantastical, Bang to Rights is informed by early ‘80s Thin Lizzy as equally as prime Saxon, with Heavy Sentence here continuing the lineal dots connecting Heavy Load, Omen, Lord Weird Slough Feg, and October 31 onward to the metalpunk revolution fostered by Midnight. In short, timeless and eternal and fucking unyielding.

A Heavy Sentence is coming your way...‘cos you are Bang to Rights!

Prepare for that Sentence with the brand-new track "Age of Fire" exclusively HERE, courtesy of Deaf Forever, Germany's defenders of the true. Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

NEMATOMORPHOS – SURVIVE THE WASTELAND ( Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of Portuguese Thrash Death Metal band Nematomorphos’ debut EP.

These 3 songs have been crafted bringing the style of modern Thrash Metal acts like Havok or Warbringer to unprecedented amounts of rage with hints of early Sepultura, although leaning even more towards the Death Metal side of the genre while still holding on to the Thrash grooves.

This band seems promising, playing Thrash Death Metal in a classic yet somewhat new way that brings to mind the most violent acts of their subgenre. With apt vocals, good riffs, pounding drums and a powerful bass guitar this band will surely release some great music in the future.

I recommend this album to fans of Thrash Death Metal and Thrash Metal. My rating is of 8,5/10.

All about Amygdala, the new from Evnen

All about Amygdala, the new from Evnen

On February 5, the Catalans Evnen released Amygdala, their powerful new two-track single. In this release, the young blackened death metal band shows an important leap forward, sounding more forceful and rocky, fast and lethal, realizing that leaving keyboards behind was a great success.

Once again recorded in AXTUDIO, the song ‘Amygdala’ is a true cannon shot at full blast, not without careful melodies. For its part, ‘Suffering’ is the strongest, presenting interesting ideas such as Daniel Aparicio's careful treatment of bass.

Be that as it may, Amygdala shows us some Evnen with a bright future ahead of them, a dark band that not even the pandemic has managed to stop. You can already listen to this work on the main platforms, and start to salivate at the idea of how overwhelming his next work will be.

Fans of Behemoth, Belphegor, Necrophobic or Dissection, don't even think about it.
