Relentless Aggression - Release New Video "End Of Religion" (Thrash Metal)

Old school Metallica, Slayer, Exodus

Relentless Aggression is an old school thrash metal band from Bergen, Norway . Even if this version of the band is only three years old, the band was originally founded in the mid 80s, under the name Hell Awaits. (No points for guessing where the first inspiration for the band came from). The original drummer was Erik "Grim" Brødreskift, later more known for drumming with black metal bands like Immortal , Gorgoroth and Borknagar. He also got a festival named after him after his death in 1999, the Hole In The Sky Festival in Bergen.

After nearly thirty years concentrating on other bands and other projects, Finn and Yngve decided to record two of the old songs and release it on vinyl. Some of the original songs were just too good to die of old age! The seven inch single was released in 2018 in a very limited number, and quickly became a collector's item. The process of recording the old songs was such a great experience that the band decided to continue their walk down the thrash metal path. New songs started to flow, and it soon was clear that a full length album had to be made. The band entered Solslottet studio with engineer and producer Iver Sandøy ( Enslaved ), and recorded three old songs and seven brand new ones. Iver also did all the studio session drumming.

Four singles have been released on various streaming platforms and two videos have been made. So far the videos have gained more than 15.000 views. The band has also been featured in Norway's most important metal magazine, Scream Magazine

Some comments on the songs have been: "old Slayer " and "sounds like something that could have been on Metallica 's "Kill 'Em All" . Listen to it yourself and see if you agree.

On the last song on the album the band knew it needed an additional female voice to get the right feeling, so Laura Pleasants from Kylesa was contacted. She liked the song and agreed to do the part the song was missing. The result speaks for itself.

Baixo Calão releases music video “Esboroável” via Metal Hammer Portugal

The Brazilian band Baixo Calão debuts the music video for the song "Esboroável”. The track is part of the band's last album, released in 2020 by the label Xaninho Discos and brings all the energy of the Brazilian Grindcore, known all over the world exclusive on the Metal Hammer Portugal website.

"'Esboroável', brought the anonymous we lost among so many tombs, as it is to face the symbiosis between the period when the lyrics were written / recorded (before the pandemic) and the pandemic period. That is, a mixture of Theory & Practice, and Satisfaction & Melancholy! Among so many losses, this clip perhaps symbolizes the most significant audiovisual work we have done”, explains the vocalist Leandro Porko.

At the end of 2020 Baixo Calão shared the video for “Pódio de Chegada”, a theme with the participation of João Gordo (Ratos de Porão).

Formed in mid-1996 in the city of Belém do Pará, Baixo Calão made a hardcore punk sound. The band's first demo, from 2003 ‘Homo Postumus’, features more Crust-Grind rhythms. In the debut album 'Atmo Mediokra' (2012) the band was already doing Grindcore oldschool and won a European tour in July 2012, passing through eight countries, a tour that featured participation in the festival OBSCENE EXTREME FESTIVAL (2012) that takes place in Czech Republic, sharing the stage with bands like Yacopsae, Discharge, Nasum, Gutalax and Sakata.

After some changes in formation and releases in several European countries, Baixo Calão was invited to perform some shows in 2020, due to the pandemic some were canceled and others postponed. Then, the band focused on studio work during the pandemic, generating several new compositions, including participation in splits with bands from Latin America and the release of the single with the participation of João Gordo.

Baixo Calão continues to promote its new studio album, entitled 'Necrológio', which was released in LP format this year, available from Xaninho Discos.

Occult-themed synth-doom collective Circle of Sighs returns with their sophomore album, titled "Narci", to be released June 4th by capable Metal Assault Records!

"Narci", a quasi-concept album about an eschatoligcal event caused by a digitally communicable mental disease: Rooted in cosmic doom, here we find the group travelling to the outer reaches of metal’s avant garde. With "Narci", Circle of Sighs solidifies itself as a group that defies categorization, bridges dichotomies and summons new worlds.

CRIMSON DIMENSION set release date for SPREAD EVIL debut, reveal first track

Today, Spread Evil Productions announces June 4th as the international release date for Crimson Dimension's highly anticipated self-titled debut album.

Although appearing as a new entity, the origins of Finland's Crimson Dimension date back to 2017 or perhaps even earlier. That year, the band revealed the staggeringly epic track "Black Mass," which vividly displayed 12 minutes of blackened progressive metal. That Crimson Dimension stress this difference - blackened progressive metal, instead of "progressive black metal" - is telling, as their spectrum of sounds & sensations encompasses a far wider range than the usually-obsidian hues of black metal, no matter how extended or extrapolated.

While years of seeming silence followed, Crimson Dimension were patiently crafting their long-form debut, now emerging as Crimson Dimension. If the dozen minutes of "Black Mass" dazzled in their generous buffet of adventurous metallics, then the three accompanying songs surrounding it on the album go even deeper and darker than that already-not-inconsiderable feat. With all four songs combining for nearly an hour's worth of music, Crimson Dimension go all in on painting a dark, dynamic, and detouring canvas beyond compare. To be sure, the root sounds are decidedly black metal in origin, but with the quintet's enviable chops put squarely in the service of The Song and no texture considered too taboo, Crimson Dimension mystifies and mesmerizes with ever-shifting ease. In fact, for each of its component tracks going well into the double digits, the album's deceptively compact; those Herculean minutes pass ever so quickly, so thrilling and storytelling is Crimson Dimension's songcraft.

With Finland having such a rich history of black metal, both purist and progressive, Crimson Dimension make a bold, bold-from-the-blue bid for the weird 'n' wild throne built by the likes of ...And Oceans, Enochian Crescent, and Trollheims Grott with their Crimson Dimension debut!

In the meantime, hear the brand-new track "Crimson Dimension" HERE. Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

1. Crimson Dimension [15:41]
2. Black Mass [11:55]
3. Age of Awakening [18:23]
4. Valon Hylkäämä [12:44]

BLITZKRIEG – THEATRE OF THE DAMNED ( Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of NWOBHM band Blitzkrieg’s album “Theatre Of The Damned”, celebrating its reissue.

This album portrays really well the genre, with high-pitched screams, carefree lyrics and great riffs. Once you check it out, songs like the title track, “Spirit Of The Legend” or “Blitzkrieg” will surely stay stuck on repeat in your head for a long while.

With a great vocal performance over the magic of riff wizards and nice backing rhythms, this album is an outstanding piece of Heavy Metal and a definitive hidden gem. Although it highly reminds of numerous other NWOBHM, their exact approach is pretty unique.

I recommend this album to fans of NWOBHM. My rating is of 9,5/10.
