Vetter - "Av Sublim Natur"

Duplicate Records proudly presents 'Av Sublim Natur', the new full-length album by Norwegian black metal act VETTER.
The album will be released on April 16th (CD, LP, Cassete), nine years after the debut album 'Vetterkult'.

The theme of 'Av Sublim Natur', lyrically and musically, is the sublime nature of Norway. The hostile wilderness which both gives and takes life. The sublime is the attracting and repelling abyss. The album was recorded at the ship of rats sounding like if the first four Black Sabbath albums were recorded by Mayhem in 89 blended with old Darkthrone and Isengard.

Musically the album continues the cold and dissonant style of the first album, focusing on the guitar based sound this time around. The album draws influences from old school black metal and crust punk to psychedelic hard rock and occult folk rock.

The album features N.M Haugfos on drums, something which heavily underlines the hard hitting and groovy side of the album. Drawing influence from old psychedelic hard rock with influences such as Ginger Baker and Bill Ward. Haugfos was also drumming alongside Kjetil Manheim on the Against the grain release.

All music, lyrics, artwork and instruments by Haavard Tveito, except drums recorded by N.M. Haugfos.

DEATH OF A LEGEND reveal new video for their third single THE CALL 🔥

DEATH OF A LEGEND
launch their third single
THE CALL

After the first two singles Faceman and Beyond ThunderdomeDeath Of A Legend are ready to present their third single: The Call.

About the topic of the song, Trippy, singer of the band, states: “You are gross. We know you are. All alone, when nobody's watching. But sometimes it happens that all you need to do is to be a decent person. Are you In good company, maybe? Well, with the passing of time it gets more difficult to hide. Sooner or later you'll play the wrong card at the wrong time. We know very well. Cause no matter how hard you try, when it comes, you just can't resist THE CALL.

Watch THE CALL video here

The performance video, directed and edited by Federico Quistini, is masterfully interspersed with scenes of the band members engaged in a game of cards, immersed in an Italian-American bar setting with a typical '80s vibe.

Regarding the filming of the video, Trippy adds: “During the making of the video we had to beat each other and it happened that something went wrong. The headbutt between Mark and Dem was accidentally real. They both got bruised and ended the day with a big red spot on their foreheads. We were so amused by the thing that kept the take and put it in the video.

Death of a Legend, rock’n’roll band formed by members of the hardcore punk scene of Milano, are:
Trippy (voice), Mark (guitars)Zane (bass) and Don Malastorte (drums).
Their style is a mixture of the iconic rock blues groovy vibes of Danko Jones, the raw facets of groups such as Maylene and the sons of Disaster and The Bronx and the typical groove of early Volbeat.

REVEALED: THE UNKNOWN SINGER WHO ALMOST REPLACED BON SCOTT IN AC/DC

REVEALED: THE UNKNOWN SINGER WHO ALMOST REPLACED BON SCOTT IN AC/DC

March 31, 2021 — In the latest issue of Rock Candy Magazine editor HoJo interviews the man who almost replaced legendary AC/DC frontman Bon Scott after the singer’s untimely death in 1980.

Steve Burton was an unknown vocalist in Birmingham, England, earning a living working as a roadie for a number of bands, including Judas Priest. Two roadie friends from Birmingham, Terry Lee and Keith Evans, were working for AC/DC – Terry as lighting director and Keith as Angus Young’s guitar tech. When Bon died on 19 February 1980 both suggested ‘Burtie’ for the vacant vocalist’s slot.

“I went down to London to audition for the band,” Burtie confirms in the Rock Candy Mag interview. “I got along fine with everyone and thought I did well, but for whatever reason I didn’t get the gig and it went to Brian Johnson, of course. But I must have made an impression on the band, because soon afterwards I got a call asking if I’d be interested in working with Angus and Malcolm Young’s nephew, Stevie. He was putting a new band together in Birmingham and Malcolm had told him he should get hold of me.”

Stevie and Burtie ended up forming Starfighters, and within three months the band was offered the support slot on the UK leg of AC/DC’s ‘Back In Black’ tour. Malcolm was so impressed with the group that he ended up working with Starfighters on a demo that led to the band signing to Jive Records.

“We played the last show of the tour at the Victoria Apollo Theatre in London,” recalls Burtie. “And as soon as AC/DC had finished their set Malcolm came off stage, towelled himself down, threw his jacket on and jumped in the minibus with us. We went straight to Morgan Studios in Willesden and from 11 o’clock at night until nine the next morning we recorded with Malcolm helping us out. We did two songs, ‘Alley Cat Blues’ and ‘Rock ’Em Dead’, and those two songs got us signed to Jive.”

Starfighters recorded two albums for Jive, ‘Starfighters’ in 1981 and ‘In-Flight Movie’ in 1982, but success proved elusive and the group soon split.

“I’d given up everything for the band,” says Burtie. “Because you know how it is. You’re on your way to stardom, you’re going to settle in America, all that stuff. I ended up working in my mate’s caff in Birmingham for two years flipping burgers!” The singer isn’t bitter, though, despite his former bandmate Stevie Young having gone on to replace Malcolm in AC/DC back in 2014.

“I’ve never been jealous of anyone’s success,” says Burtie. “Whatever happens in life you’ve got to carry on, whether it be playing in a band or shovelling sh*t all day.”

DeathOmen - "Above Holy Ground"

Label: Self-Released
Format: Digital
Genre: Metal, Blackened Metal, Thrash Metal, Dark Metal
Country: Slovenia

""Above Holy Ground"
brings a pure and proud style of metal that will please the tastes of a wider group of metalheads. DeathOmen made a very elaborate concept with this album, not only musically but also visually and lyrically, dealing with the occult, human relations, post-apocalyptic visions and personal views/thoughts about humanity and destruction.

It's a kind of trip into the depths of darkness, that is bringing plague and destruction to this world and civilization. A demonic force shines within those riffs, rhythms and words that slowly penetrate the mind of a devoted listener.

DeathOmen offers a somehow unique listening experience, where various metal genres coexist spontaneously in a darkened atmosphere the voice of "Mančo" is creating. Although DeathOmens' music is not and doesn't want to be burdened with genres, there are to be found elements of doom, death and heavy metal, with occasional experimental tips.

DeathOmen doesn't want to expose its inner massage in full. It's supposed to be personal, left for others to deal with it on their own." -Tomaž Vogrič (terrarelicta.com)

"The lyrics are basically personal, pure poetry. Based on the music, the lyrics have been adapted just enough to make everything compatible. They emphasize human relationships, interpersonal relationships and relationships with the world, which has been hosting us for millennia. The exploiting of man as an energy nutrient and the control over humanity, which manages to keep this exploitation still going on, are also mentioned several times, directly or indirectly. This mutual existence is misunderstood, and the time for departure- the extinction of our civilization is very close. There is no more time for corrections, apologies, or salvation." by Mančo DEATHOMEN - TerraRelicta dark music webmagazine

The album was nominated for Album of the year 2020 by the dark music web magazine Terra Relicta and it takes 3rd place among 50 nominees, only four votes behind the winner. The song Rise Of DeathOmen took first place in the voting for the song of the month in February 2021 on the web radio Terra Relicta.

Wratheon - "Black Thrash Mass"

The true spirit of metal is found in the chill of night beneath a star-studded sky, miles from the infringing pollution of human society. It flares into life beneath the lights of the concert hall where the noise and unity hold the darkness of the world at bay. It’s in a last warrior’s embrace before a final, hopeless yet glorious combat and in an exhilarating flight of the imagination or the perfect dream. It is the companion voice in times of stark, unbelievable pain and the steel of defiance when you hang above a chasm of despair. It is the endless forest, the towering mountain, solitude and strength, adrenaline and power, ice and fire and the perfectly chosen notes that speak the language of the soul.

All of that spirit cries out from Wratheon’s Black Thrash Mass; a seething entity of venomous riffs, a rush of icy melodies and snarling, impassioned vocals. The raging flames of thrash metal collide with the bitter cold of black metal’s vast vistas and explode in a blinding cataclysm of metallic intensity, while the guitars sing out those essential notes, infused with the eternal feeling that you can understand but never explain. The sheer exhilaration of ‘A Fire Burns’, the glorious release of ‘In Seance’ and the depth and poignancy of ‘Life’ provide the foundations of an EP that positively radiates an accomplished brilliance and crackles with the excitement of huge potential and greatness to come. Behind the painted, shrouded face of Wratheon lies a deep and unquestionable understanding of what metal really is and how it connects to the hearts of those who worship at its altars.

Wratheon first announced his intent to release this vehement strike back in the summer of 2020, but every hour of the wait for its demonic detonation has been worth it. When the five songs of raw, bloody and beautiful black thrash are raging against deceit and oppression nothing else matters. For these precious minutes, there is only metal, there is only Wratheon, there is only the glory of the Black Thrash Mass. Available from March 26th this is absolutely unmissable.

Line-up:
Wratheon – all music and vocals

After releasing two albums like Into The Coiling Arms Of Mayhem (2008) and Standing Before The End Of Time (2012), the band has proven to be very much alive in their recent EP On The Brink Of Existence, a wild work that we will take care of. get as far as possible.
