Cruzeiro - Cruzeiro (Interstellar Smoke Records, Vertebrae, Lunar Seas Records, Cain Records Release: 29 October 2021)

Intergalactic battles, paranormal activities, dismal deities, slowness... and presence, lots of presence. On 29 October Cruzeiro will release their eponymous debut album, but listening to their stoner doom, no one would say that this is their debut. Surely the experience of their vocalist Beatriz Onix, a sorceress who was previously in Misty Grey and Barren Plains, or the guitarist Gon.B, also a member of the black metallers Akouphenom, has a lot to do with it.
Recorded, mixed and mastered by Javi Félez at Moontower Studios (Teitanblood, Graveyard, Balmog, Barbarian Swords...) in early September 2020, Cruzeiro will make any acolyte of Electric Wizard, Om, Sleep, Black Sabbath, Reverend Bizarre, or Windhand cross portals to other planes through these four songs full of skillful spells.
These riffs like mountains, not exempt from moments of loaded and acid-drenched solos, have been underpinned by a layout and artwork by Beto in an artistic direction together with Beatriz. For this artwork they have compiled drawings by bassist Raposa! and this is a joint release between Interstellar Smoke Records for the CD and LP (in December if all goes well), Vertebrae also for the CD, and Lunar Seas Records and Cain Records for the tape.
In this initial album the Galician quartet has revealed itself as a perfect master of the style, adding a pinch of speed when needed and descending towards the most demolishing pause as doom metal demands. Connect your sixth sense to Cruzeiro and get ready for the trip.

Murmurs Of Earth Release New Single - Unwind

Emerging from their covid induced cocoon, Murmurs of Earth release their latest and most chilled single to date. ‘Unwind’ is a perfectly packaged slice of mellow retro pop, a modern take on an ‘80s vibe.

Murmurs Of Earth are Richard Sinclair (Coffee In Zurich, Almost) and Geoff Pickney (Glasshouse, The Nine, Mesh & Tenek)

Richard has been writing and recording since the early ‘80s and as a solo artist since ‘03. He was inspired to take a new direction after talking to legendary electronic music pioneer John Foxx (Ultravox, Nation 12, John Foxx And The Maths, Tiger Lily), Richard started working in collaboration with a collection of musicians, vocalists and creatives.

Richard teamed up with Geoff Pinckney in 2015 and Murmurs Of Earth was born.

Their first single “Take It All” was released in July ’16 and the debut album “New Horizons” in May ’19.

Murmurs Of Earth have gone from strength to strength during this period and in 2020 were nominated for Electro Act of the year by online station Radio Wigmam.

Refreshed and revitalised, Richard & Geoff are busy in the studio recording songs towards their next album release in 2022. They would be more than happy to take time out for any radio appearances or interviews.”

Jo Steel & Dave Rotten join forces in WEAPONRY!! New Death/Crust massacre to come out soon on Xtreem Music!

Canadian Jo Steel (ICE WAR/ APHRODITE/ EXPUNGED) and Spaniard Dave Rotten (AVULSED/ HOLYCIDE/ CHRIST DENIED/ FAMISHGOD) have joined forces in a new band called WEAPONRY whose intention is to create the dirtiest, most intense and relentless Death/ Crust on both sides of the Atlantic ocean!!

WEAPONRY was born in early 2021 when Jo Steel wrote a bunch of songs for a new project still unnamed and without a vocalist for it until one day, in spring of the same year, he decided to show Dave Rotten what he recorded and since a friend of Jo which was supposed to do vocals, never replied, Dave was asked to join and so this project became a more serious thing under the name of WEAPONRY with a cool logo and a concept behind.

During summer, the 10 songs were properly mixed and vocals were recorded with the use of lyrics provided by Rogga Johansson (PAGANIZER/ MASSACRE/ PUTREVORE) and then sent to Germany for a proper STEM mastering by Dan Swanö at Unisound Studios. The cover artwork was done by Spanish artist José Vives, which perfectly depicts the post-apocalyptic theme of the band. "Everwinding Slaughter" contains 10 songs of a dirty, intense and savage Death/ Crust full of catchy riffs and relentless tempo. Influences may come from bands like COMECON, DOOM, NIHILIST, DISCHARGE, AUTOPSY, EXTREME NOISE TERROR, MASTER, UNCURBED… The album will be released on the 11th of January 2022 on CD, 12"LP & Cassette by Xtreem Music.

The tracklist for "Everwinding Slaughter" is as follows:

01. Speedkill
02. The Oozer
03. Road Rat Rage
04. Future Wasteland
05. The Burned Land
06. Crossbow Warrior
07. Into the Dome
08. Zone Traveler
09. Fields of Mutation
10. Toxic Waste Overture

The release date for "Everwinding Slaughter" will be January 11th, 2022 through Xtreem Music on CD, 12"LP & Cassette formats. You can visit WEAPONRY's official site here: www.facebook.com/WeaponryDeathCrust and listen to the first advance song on the following link: https://youtu.be/6bvCToyZsTE

THOLA – SOMEWHERE ( Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of Swiss Power Thrash Metal band Thola’s new album.

Mixing the fantastic and epic elements of Power Metal with a modern and occasionally-pretty-hard-when-compared-with-similar-bands kind of Thrash Metal, the group deliver here an easy to listen yet powerful album that may also appeal to fans of Epic Heavy Metal on some occasions.

Perhaps the main element of the release is its modernity, although fans of the classic approach to the subgenre may also enjoy it. With a good production and heavy yet not too commercially evading riffs, the full-length takes Power Metal through a sort of new direction without straying too much from the norm, offering songs with identity that nonetheless somewhat stick to the general formula. My personal highlights are the title track and “X-Treme”.

I recommend this album to fans of modern Heavy Metal, Thrash Power Metal and Power Metal. My rating is of 8/10.
