TWISTED TOWER DIRE: Nameless Grave Records To Release Crest Of The Martyrs Demos From Virginia Heavy Metal Act; "Some Other Time, Some Other Place" Streaming + Preorders Posted

Nameless Grave Records presents Crest Of The Martyrs Demos, an alternate/demo version of TWISTED TOWER DIRE’s adored third album, making the recordings available for the first time.

In the days of olde, after classic heavy metal was supplanted by extreme music and before the current reignition of interest that the genre has enjoyed, Northern Virginia’s TWISTED TOWER DIRE tirelessly defended true heavy metal in all forms as they sought to breathe new light into a then largely dead genre. By the time their now-legendary third album Crest Of The Martyrs was written they were on top of the world, having played Wacken for the first time a couple years earlier and having released two full-lengths on The Miskatonic Foundation, run by Rich Walker of Solstice fame, as well as a wide array of EPs, splits, compilation tracks, and more.

Crest Of The Martyrs was the next step: a bigger power metal label, sleeker production, and TWISTED TOWER DIRE’s biggest hooks and choruses yet. Underneath the gleaming power metal edge provided by the production provided by the label and studio still lurked the same triumphing true metal band, however, and for the first time Nameless Grave Records is proud to present Crest Of The Martyrs the way the band originally intended it: as a devastating, lean set of heavy metal bangers untouched by modern power metal production, and alternate studio decisions.

Old fans of the band can rejoice to have this different set of recordings available for the first time, and new fans can marvel at the powerhouse of one of America’s finest bands playing at their best. Highly recommended for fans of Visigoth, Pharaoh, and Omen.

Recorded in 2002 at Killabrew Studios, produced by Matt Crooks and TWISTED TOWER DIRE, and mastered by Dan Lowndes at Resonance Sound Studios, Crest Of The Martyrs Demos is completed with artwork personally done for this release by guitarist Scott Waldrop. The CD version features bonus tracks not included on the vinyl, including a second demo as well as a live track from Wacken 2003, and both the CD and vinyl editions bear liner notes from the band. The LP will be pressed in a total run of 500 copies, including 300 on Black and 100 on Silver. No Remorse Records (Greece) will have an exclusive 100 copies on Light Blue vinyl.

BIO:

Needless was founded during the winter of 2004 in Dánszentmiklós, Hungary. The band started as a home project, and slowly evolved into an active group for the year 2014. Their music basically consists of traditional elements of melodic thrash and death metal with the atmospheric side of black metal with some progressive elements.

All mixed up into a fierce blend of aggression and ferocity, with mythical themes and nihilistic contemplations about humankind in the lyrics. In 2015 the band came up with their first accountable release called "The Dark Spirit of Ages" EP, which received critically positive feedback. After its release, Needless did several shows in its home country with bands like Aggression, Nervosa, Nuclear, Dew-Scented, and Flotsam And Jetsam.

“The Cosmic Cauldron” was released in 2022.01.07. via UPRISING! Records.

VOIDCEREMONY Releases At The Periphery Of Human Realms EP Via 20 Buck Spin As Second LP Continues To Develop

photos by Ian Mann
VOIDCEREMONY presents At The Periphery Of Human Realms. Based out of California but uniting members from multiple continents, the band is formed by guitarist/vocalist Garrett Johnson, guitarist Phil Tougas (Atramentus, Chthe'ilist, First Fragment), bassist Damon Good (Mournful Congregation, Stargazer), and drummer Charlie Koryn (Ascended Dead, Incantation).

VOIDCEREMONY reaches well beyond the confines of the typical to create a methodically accelerating chaos, an orchestral maelstrom of esoteric profundity. And while nowadays “technical death metal” has become synonymous with banal machine-like acrobatics for its own sake, the band instead maintains a principled continuum of arcane alchemy and increasing internal entropy.

An intermission of sorts between their 2020 debut LP, Entropic Reflections Continuum: Dimensional Unravel, and the in-progress eventual second LP, At The Periphery Of Human Realms acts as brief sketch of where VOIDCEREMONY’s creative minds continue to roam. And, while the first track, referencing the debut LP in title, is likely to later appear in altered form, the other tracks are to remain frozen in time on this promo.

With Good’s bass recorded in Australia and Tougas’ guitars recorded in Quebec, these elements were reamped where the majority of the album was recorded by Charlie Koryn at Ramona Music Center Studio and Underworld Studio with artwork by Shoggoth Kinetics and layout by Labelskum

Stream VOIDCEREMONY’s At The Periphery Of Human Realms at Bandcamp HERE and YouTube HERE.

At The Periphery Of Human Realms is out now on cassette and digital via 20 Buck Spin’s webshop HERE and Bandcamp HERE as well as all other digital providers.

At The Periphery Of Human Realms Track Listing:
1. Entropic Reflections Continuum
2. Interlude: Lamentations Incorporeal
3. Tenebrous Lucidity

Watch for updates on the band’s looming second album which continues to gestate.

OMHOSTEN – MUSIC OF THE GREAT BEYOND (Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of Ukrainian Black Metal band Omhosten’s debut album.

This release is an offering of pure Black Metal performed with a malice that reminds of the rawer bands of the style, though the album doesn’t quite fall into the subgenre, instead being more aptly catalogued as pure Black Metal. Combining frigid tremolo picked riffs with a slower paced mesmerizing aspect that despite the tempo has no resemblance to Doom and is more of a melancholic reflection of the songs’ intent amalgamated with their obscure fury.

With a very apt title, the full-length has a miserable aura of transcendence that has been crafted using the classic tools instead of genre-bending experimentation, delivering a feeling that displays depth, darkness and elegant negativity. Although some songs and the release in general may be too long for some listeners, it’s not-too-aggressive-not-too-soft atmosphere makes it an easy listen to fans of the genre. My personal highlights are “Will I Be Damned By All Gods” and the title track.

I recommend this album to fans of Black Metal. My rating is of 8,5/10.

RIZON - Prime Time ( Release date: Saturday, March 12th 2022 )

6 years have gone by since the Swiss band RIZON enchanted the melodic fans with "Power Plant". And they seem to have had a great time, because that's exactly what the new release PRIME TIME sounds like! Infectious songs like "Love Your Life" or "Fuckin' Rock It" exemplify the mood of RIZON. Positive energy is packed in wonderful melodies and arranged with the necessary heaviness to inspire fans of bands like Pretty Maids, Dynazty or the genre giants Avantasia. PRIME TIME is again the production of Jacob Hansen! Once more he has proven how masterfully he can fuse melody with heaviness and power. The voices of Matt and Anastasia complement each other wonderfully, the guitars are rocking and the synth adds the extra atmosphere to the typical RIZON sound. RIZON... time to fuckin' rock it, time for PRIME TIME!
