LOST TRIBES OF THE MOON to Release 'Chapter II: Tales Of Strife, Destiny, And Despair' in March

Milwaukee (WI) - LOST TRIBES OF THE MOON proudly make their return as they finally unveil their much anticipated sophomore album, Chapter II: Tales Of Strife, Destiny, And Despair. The album will be self-released on March 25.

The band has released two singles from the forthcoming album:

"Unleash The Berserkers"

"A Chapter from the Book of Blood"

Chapter II: Tales Of Strife, Destiny, And Despair is a vast and dense musical journey that spans over 75 minutes and showcases the evolution of the band from the time since their debut effort. Picking up from where they left off and taking giant steps beyond, LOST TRIBES OF THE MOON have expanded their musical borders and universe tenfold with the new album.

Eight tracks are tied together like chapters from a book to make up what tells the musical tales on this album. Themes for these songs are inspired by Stephen King's The Dark Tower and Clive Barker's Books Of Blood, as well as previously explored territorial themes such as demonology and mythology. The familiar elements of Doom, Prog Rock, NWOBHM, Black Metal, and Folk have all returned, but this time these styles get further explored and displayed as a more unique and matured sound within the compositions.

An extended amount of synthesizers, theremin and acoustic instruments are woven into the music along with vibraphones, gongs and other percussive instruments to add to the complexity of this new sound. Featuring new members Julie Brandenburg on vocals and bassist Chris Ortiz, this bolstered lineup displays an extensive array of talent and instrumentation on this latest album to deliver to the listener something truly unique while taking them along for an exciting musical ride!

Band Members:

This Ka-Tet was founded in late 2015 by Jon Liedtke, a veteran guitarist and musician from Milwaukee, WI. Jon is probably most recognized nationally and internationally as the theremin player for Relapse Records recording artists Inter Arma. His multi instrumental skills landed him in a working relationship with the Richmond, VA band and has appeared on their albums The Cavern and Paradise Gallows. Jon has also played noteworthy festivals with them such as Adult Swim Fest, Psycho Fest, Maryland Death Fest, and Roadburn Festival, as well as a 2018 European tour as direct support for the band Deafheaven. Jon has spent most of his local Milwaukee career as a lead guitarist for previous metal bands such as Shroud Of Despondency, Face Of Ruin, Ara, and Toby Wong. He also has his own ambient synthwave project Cannabinol Synapse, as well as his solo blues project called Midnight Liedtke. As the primary composer and ringleader of the band, Jon combines his college music degree skills along with his veteran experience as a performing musician as well as his passion for music to create the sounds of LOST TRIBES OF THE MOON.

Jeremiah Messner plays drums in LTOTM and is the second longest tenured member in the band. Raised in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, Jeremiah is a veteran of the Milwaukee underground music scene and has played with a who's who of black metal bands including Cold Beyond, Shroud Of Despondency (where him and Jon Liedtke met) and Owl's Cry. He also has his own experimental noise projects Hallow Hecatomb and Temper. As a performing drummer for over 20 years and well versed in the aforementioned influential genres for this band, his drumming style is the perfect complement to the feel for each of their songs.

Julie Brandenburg is the newest vocalist for LTOTM. She joined in late 2019 and brings along her sophisticated voice and vast musical experience to the band. She is a vocalist, pianist, songwriter, and composer and has performed and recorded in the Midwest for years. Her voice has been described as “soaring” by Billboard Magazine. Julie and Jon first met while he attended the music program at M.A.T.C. college in Milwaukee, where Julie was a voice, piano, and choir teacher. She also has a solo career of her own, with a new album due later this year. Julie seeks to engage people with her music: “Artists have the responsibility of interpreting the feelings and circumstances of our unique time together on this planet, and offering connection and inspiration to listeners."

Chris Ortiz rages the bass for LTOTM. Joining in 2020 to take on the massive duties of providing bass parts for the newest album, Chris has since settled into the Tribes and now resides with them as their newest member. He is a heavily seasoned veteran of the Milwaukee music scene for 30 years, and has provided bass (and vocals) for a very long list of bands including Speedfreaks, Volcanoes, El Gordo, Xolotl, and Motivo Loco. He fronts his own band Magnetic Minds as bassist and lead vocalist and plays a bitchin' Geezer Butler in a Black Sabbath cover band called Hand of Doom!

Line-up:

Jon Liedtke - Guitar
Jeremiah Messner - Drums
Julie Brandenburg - Vocals
Chris Ortiz - Bass

BIO:

Lost Tribes Of The Moon is a band that follows their own path musically and allows their music to speak for themselves. Based in Milwaukee, Wisconson, Lost Tribes Of The Moon doesn't try to be defined by one or two genres, rather using "metal" as its main vehicle of sound, but citing influences ranging from Doom Metal, 70's hard rock, Prog Rock,, Black Metal, NWOBHM, folk, and ambient/experimental to make up a reference for what the listener has in store for their ears. The band focuses on dynamics within their musicianship and proper use of inspiration to deliver a sound that doesn't sit neatly into any single description or genre.

Lost Tribes Of The Moon takes their name from a reference to Clive Barker's Nightbreed movie and graphic novel and uses that type of dark story telling fictional (or not so) universe combined with lyrics based on stories of mythical figures and old tales to influence the vibe of this band. They released their self-titled debut album in 2018 to a well received audience and celebrated reviews by music critics. 2019 and 2020 saw the additions of Julie Brandenburg on vocals and Chris Ortiz on bass to make up the lineup that recorded their sophomore album, Chapter II: Tales Of Strife, Destiny, And Despair.

Lost Tribes Of The Moon have been performing as a live band since September of 2017, and in that time have been a support act for such bands as Trouble, Today Is The Day, Black Tusk, Immortal Bird, Vanishing Kids, Doomstress, Dreadnought, Ails, Owl, Savage Master, and Vile Creature.

The band's goals for the remainder of 2022 is to promote their much anticipated sophomore album and venture out to further regions beyond their hometown and the Midwest to share their music and live sound with more and more audiences. Never satisfied as just being content with their musical accomplishments, the band also stays focused on progressing and regularly composing new material to evolve to the next phase of their existence.

NEQUIENT: Chicago Hardcore/Metal Outfit To Release Darker Than Death Or Night LP Via Nefarious Industries In March; “First Casualty” Streaming + Preorders And Tour Dates Posted

Nefarious Industries presents Darker Than Death Or Night, the second full-length from Chicago’s metallic hardcore outfit NEQUIENT. Confirming the album for March release, the label has issued the cover art, track listing, preorders, and the lead single, “First Casualty.”

NEQUIENT is a four-piece metallic hardcore band from Chicago. Building on a foundation of thrashing d-beat, they draw influences from a broad spectrum of aggressive styles including grindcore, crust, sludge, death metal, black metal, and noise rock. The result is a uniquely punishing sound that emphasizes percussive intensity and razor-sharp hooks.

Formed in 2014, NEQUIENT’s first official release was 2015’s Infinite Regress EP, the start of a longstanding collaboration with producer Pete Grossmann (Immortal Bird, Something Is Waiting, Warforged) at Bricktop Recording in Chicago. Following a few personnel shifts, the group settled on its current configuration and forged a debut full-length, Wolves At The Door, issued in 2018 by Nefarious Industries. Decibel Magazine lent the album its “enthusiastic stamp of approval,” declaring, “NEQUIENT comes blazing in on a misanthropy-fueled ICBM missile.” Ghost Cult Magazine described the band as, “astute musical assassins,” driven by the powerful drumming of “human tornado” Chris Avgerin.

NEQUIENT set out on a campaign of DIY touring in support of Wolves At The Door, playing every dive bar, basement, community center, banquet hall, and benefit festival that would have them. Those travels culminated in a late 2019 run with Danish avant-hardcore technicians and Nefarious Industries labelmates Oxx.

A few months later, NEQUIENT reconvened at Bricktop to track a new album, once again helmed by Grossmann, not realizing that the global pandemic would soon slow all further progress to a maddening crawl. In 2021, the band released the digital EP Collective Punishment, offering two exclusive tracks from the early 2020 sessions and two live performances from the late 2019 tour, which is now followed by their second full-length, Darker Than Death Or Night.

On Darker Than Death Or Night, NEQUIENT set out to embrace even more diverse sounds than before without sacrificing their tightly honed focus or capacity for vicious sensory assault. This is a singular breed of heavy music: tightly controlled yet satisfyingly grimy, attuned to the anxieties of an uneasy era and unconcerned about fitting into the preconceived boundaries of subgenre. Mixed by Sanford Parker (Voivod, Yob, Eyehategod) and mastered by Collin Jordan (Harm’s Way, Windhand, Pelican), the album features artwork and design by Scott Shellhamer (American Heritage, Buried At Sea, Coffinworm) as well as a guest vocal turn from Eddie Gobbo of Something Is Waiting.

Darker Than Death Or Night will see release on March 11th, issued on vinyl – 250 copies on Black and Neon Green Galaxy, 150 on Orange Crush with Neon Green Splatter, and 100 on Black inside Deep Purple exclusive to the band and Nefarious Subscription Club members – as well as 100 copies on Fluorescent Orange cassette, and through all digital services.
