RANCOR – BURY THE WORLD ( Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of Spanish Thrash Metal band Rancor’s upcoming new album, out on June 14th.

This release offers some old-school American-inspired Thrash combined with elements of Speed Metal and soaring melodies that remind more of Heavy Metal. This mix in which they’re veterans is given cohesion by a good vocal performance that lies in between their styles.

Their adding of catchy melodies also gives an epic side to the otherwise straightforward and fun approach of the songs. There’s also a notable presence of bass, complimenting everything well and giving the whole more depth. In general, these tracks seem ideal for live performances, and they sound very mosh-friendly. My personal highlights are “Daggers In The Chest” and “Evade”.

I recommend this album to fans of Speed Metal and American Thrash Metal. My rating is of 8,5/10.

Concierto homenaje a Lemmy Peralta ,7 de Mayo 2022/Tribute concert to Lemmy Peralta, May 7, 2022 (Review by Javier Barba Vallejo)

Sabado chulisimo y Metalero a tope !!!!
POR SIEMPRE.....LEMMY PERALTA.

ENGLISH:

Last Saturday 5/7/22 we attended the tribute concert to Lemmy Peralta, on the first anniversary of his disappearance.
Organized by his friend and promoter Alfredo Alarcon in the Boveda room in Barcelona, with the two bands in which he was active, Arma-t own songs band and Dr. Crüe Mötley Crüe tribute band. The entire box office proceeds from this concert went to "La Casa De los Xuclis", a charity organization that helps families of children with cancer.

Days before the show, the "Sold Out" sign was already posted and promised a great night, and that rivaled the concert of the Swedish Ghost with Sold Out at the Pavello Olimpic in Badalona and the first edition of the Black Metal festival "Necesse Mori" in the beautiful location of "La Fortalessa", a fortress built in 1716 in the town of Hostalric (Girona) and which was also in Sold Out.
We entered the room just when David Wasp, one of his many great friends, was reading an emotional letter from his friends to Lemmy on stage as the opening of the show, and immediately afterwards Arma-t jumped onto the stage with his powerful Metal, Heavy /Thash/Crossover.
They opened with "Fuego Cruzado", "Cerebro y Gasolina", "Sinpa" and "Tú Suerte Es Mí Muerte" and the whole room passed then it was already a fucking party in which everyone enjoyed a lot.
A Lemmy Peralta guitar, his Barça shirt and a picture of his face next to a guitar neck, just like the poster and the concert tickets, presided over the stage, while his friends and colleagues from Arma-t furiously reeled off a set list plagued with compositions by them together with the guitarist, "El Barrio", "Shalom", "Ingobernables", "Monstruos Kreados", "Inkisicion", "Caballo de Batalla" and a pleasant surprise arrived for me that night, the Kreator's version of "Phobia" which was sung by his friend David Wasp who played it like a motherfucker, considering that he's not a singer, it was an outstanding detail !!!!... it was followed by "Flores Al Cerdo" which reminded me a lot to my adored Testament, while the room was a hive to close the show with "La Llave" and "No Es No" and some encores that people still scream at them.
Arma-t offered a ball very worthy of the tribute to Lemmy that his people offered him both above and below the stage.

While one group dismounted to enter the other, reunions with friends and personal encounters with Facebook friends happened every moment, until Dr.Crüe jumped on stage opening with "Shout At The Devil" in which the vocal record of Frank Hinojosa blew me away with how he nailed Vince Neil's peculiar tone, this was followed by "Too Fast For Love" and "Looks That Kill" in which the current bassist of the band gave way to the first collaboration of the night , that of bassist Israel Leida who wildly played "Looks" and "Live Wire" and has already returned to the stage to play the bombshell of "Piece Of Your Action" and that is when Dr. Crüe stopped performing songs from the first two albums of Mötley to play Dr. Feelgood in which Joe Pérez of the legendary Fuck Off came on stage to sing along with Frank, by then the room had taken on a BRUTAL atmosphere, only comparable to the spirited concert they had given a month before in the my ma Motorhits room (Motorhead Tribute Band) on the 50th anniversary of the promoter, also of this concert, Alfredo Alarcon, who is making us live unforgettable moments with the hits he puts on in the city.

.

..And came a whiplash from Theater Of Pain, "Smoking In The Boys Room" with which another legendary deluxe collaboration came on drums, original Danny Pujol Former drummer of the Bon Scott Band and currently in Willy And The Poor Boys (Credence Clearwater Revival Tribute Band) and Sweet Emotion (Aerosmith Tribute Band) with whom they also performed "Ten Seconds To Love" and Blas Flecha came up to smash the drums again in "Red Hot", collaborations followed one another like beers cold and after one came another, for "Too Young To Fall In Love" the great guitarist Jose Herranz came on stage and after him, in "Wild Side" the original bassist of Dr.Crüe, the Australian Simmon Lamb, who took a flight from London where he currently resides to be on that magical night.
By then, with a lot of musicians and a party both on stage and on stage, it was the turn of the killer "Kick Start My Heart" in which Issis Carrie (Dance Teacher with her own academy) came on stage as a sexy L.A. club rogue pole dancer.....masterful Isis!!!

In the ballad par excellence of the Crüe "Home Sweet Home" Antonio Peralta Alcocer came on stage, Lemmy's father giving an emotional thanks to all the friends who attended the appointment and keep the memory of his son alive , the groups presented him with the painting of Lemmy who presided over the entire concert on top of the Marshalls, to the applause and shouts of the entire audience.
The Dr. Crüe quickly brought the party vibe back without letting it die down with the Sex Pistols' wacky version of "Anarchy In The U.k." that the Mötley Crüe did for the compilation "Decade Of Decadence" (1991) with Antonio dancing along with Isis and enjoying a lot of musicians and they have already closed the show with Girls, Girls, Girls in which all the girls from the room they wanted , dancing with all the musicians who collaborated giving a VERY BEAST end of party with a lot of people and good vibes for a good tribute and a good cause .
I could not name all the people I met and met that night because this post would go on forever, but it was great to see or meet all of you, at the exit of Bóveda, Ana and I still took the car that night for about 70 Km , to the Fortress of Hostalric (Girona) to attend for a while the first edition of the Black Metal festival "Necesse Mori" in which we could still see the Mosaic Germans and have a beer with two other great friends and followers. s of the Black Metal Underground Jero García and Sku Drinka.
Very cool Saturday and Metalero to the fullest!!!!
FOREVER.....LEMMY PERALTA.

ANGST – THE VILE ( Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of Portuguese Black Metal band Angst’s album “The Vile”.

This release offers a really dark sonority which is based mostly on slower riffs and melodies, and their approach creates a pretty mystical aura. My closest comparison would be with Deathspell Omega’s slow passages (especially when also considering the sort of similar vocals), though subtracting all the avant-garde complexity.

The album also includes some simpler and more straightforward songs that may appeal to fans of more traditional Black Metal, though in general the whole release feels old-school. Their combination of speed with the prevalence of slowness offers a layer of obscurity that is often ignored, and their compositions use enough simplicity to transmit cathartic feelings without too much monotony. This is a very solid and aphotic opus of the blackest of metal. My personal highlights are “Medusa” and “Kingdom Of Fire”.

I recommend this album to fans of Black Metal. My rating is of 9/10.
