UNCHAINED HORIZON – FALLEN KINGDOM ( Review by Varg The Mighty )

 

Today’s review is of German Heavy Metal band Unchained Horizon’s upcoming new album, out on September 30^th.

This release is an upbeat pack of catchy tracks that bring to mind the glory days of the NWOBHM, especially Saxon, while also adding some dynamism with some modern Heavy Metal aspects, which lean it mostly in an epic direction.

Nonetheless, there are also some hard rocking songs that make the whole more diverse and yet paradoxically consistent. Thanks to energetic vocals and passionate melodies, this full-length has its memorable parts, although listeners who aren’t diehard Heavy Metal maniacs may not enjoy it. These songs will seem to fit perfectly in live performances. My personal highlights are “Stranger” and “Through The Storm”.

I recommend this album to fans of Heavy Metal. My rating is of 8,5/10.

NOTT – XX (Review by Varg The Mighty )

 

Today’s review is of Italian One-man Black Metal project Nott’s new album.

Celebrating Nott’s 20^th anniversary, this release offers some cold and primitive Black Metal with no space for mercy. These songs are straightforward and feature no intros or interludes, instead pushing the unwary listener straight into the dark abyss without a warning.

Combining the frigid tremolo picking with epic chants, mighty shrieks and eerie arpeggios, the songs have an underlying complexity that may not be appreciated with the first listening. As so, it is an album that grows in quality with the more attention it is given. This hypnotic full-length may also very well be the most powerful release of the band up to date, culminating a lengthy escalation of angst and blight with a true definition of Black Metal darkness. My personal highlights are “Naked Apes”, “Conclave Of Fire” and “Twelve”.

I recommend this album to fans of Black Metal. My rating is of 9,5/10.

SAVAGED - KNIGHTS OF METAL ( 2022,SINGLE)

 ENGLISH :

 Savaged, a group originally from Barcelona, ​​Spain, founded in early 2021 by Jamie along with Joan after the dissolution of their previous band Extermination. The band is currently formed by Jamie Killhead on vocals and guitar, Joan Grimalt on guitar, Aleix Coll on bass and Cristian Blade on drums.

FESTA ROCK 8 ,PLAÇA EIVISSA - HORTA GUINARDO (FRIDAY 16/09/22) REVIEW BY JAVIER BARBA VALLEJO

 El pasado Viernes 16/9 asistimos al primer día de los dos que consta el Festa Rock d' Horta , en su octava edicion .
Esta vez Ana y yo asistimos ya como público , sín el stand de carteles de Satan Things , lo cual nos dejó toda la noche para ver los conciertos y reencontrarnos y charlar con l@s amig@s.
La tarde amenazaba a tormenta , el eterno enemigo del Festa Rock , que siempre desquicia y estresa sobremanera a su organizador , el gran Pepe Motorhead.
De hecho nosotros veníamos desde Montcada bajo los truenos de unas nubes negrisimas que se iluminaban intermitentemente con relampagos
Llegamos al poco de que la banda Brote hubiese iniciado su actuación  , animando ya al público que había e iba llegando a la plaza Ibiza .

Con su "Rock Urbano"  de actualidad y una actitud fiestera y de muy buen rollo fueron desgranando los temas de su álbum "Rock Contagioso"  (2017) con muy buena aceptación del público que presenció su acuacion.
Enseguida vimos a Pepe y la preocupación en su cara por la climatología de la tarde , nos contó que había mucha más escenografía de focos y escenario pero que los técnicos de luces y sonido no quisieron montar por si la lluvia hacía acto de presencia y así poder hacer una rápido recogida para que no se mojaran los equipos.

Sobre las 22: 30 salieron al escenario "Amaro" bajo una gran ovación y griterío del público,  abrieron su actuación con "Sexo" y hay que decir que apostaron muy muy fuerte con su nuevo álbum "Respira" (2021) ya que tocaron los primeros siete temas del concierto en el orden natural del disco , claro que también es ir a tiro fijo , porque el trallazo de Lp que sacaron los Amaro el año pasado no tiene ni una nota desperdicio , recuerdo estar viendo su actuación junto a mis amigos Javi Perez Galera   y Sandra Sassenach  oscuros Gothics que se vinieron al Festa Rock y que no conocían "Amaro" y fliparon con la voz de Joana, la calidad de la banda y su directo .
Entonces pues el bolo fue así , "Sexo" , "Respira" , "Sueño" , "Muerde"  , "Ven" , "Fuego" y "Rabia" , seguida de la sensual "Calor" retirándose  momentáneamente Joana del escenario y haciéndose cargo del bolo su fantástica banda con los hermanos Teruel al frente Carlos y Diego guitarra y bajo respectivamente , Javi Rojano a la batería y Felix Barcojo a la guitarra interpretaron cantadas por los "Teruel Brothers" tres pedazo versiones que pusieron firmes a tod@s l@s Metals que estaban allí esa noche .
"Diamonds And Rust" de Joan Baez popularizada por los Judas Priest en su versión del álbum "Sin After Sin" y siguiendo con los Dioses del Metal  "Metal  Gods" de los Priest , para acabar con una versión de The Trooper de Iron Maiden.
Hasta la salida a escena de Joana arremetiendo con "Libertad" , Señores De La Guerra" y "Veneno y Miel" para cerrar el concierto , hasta el ovacionado bis que tocaron "Bajo Presion" , recordando con ellas el "Bajo Presion" (1990) y "Carmen De Fuego" (2018) y cerrando con un fín de fiesta brutal con "Amo el Rock 'n' Roll" versión en castellano de "The Arrows" popularizada por Joan Jett en 1981 en su álbum del mismo nombre , también incluida en el album "Respira" de Amaro.
Amaro dejaron el escenario tras un gran conciertazo que ofrecieron para unas 600 personas congregadas en la Plaza Ibiza .... dejando paso a otras bestias pardas , los incombustibles "Motorhits" 

(Motörhead Tribute Band) y así Pepón a la batería , Antonio a la guitarra y Xammy al bajo , al grito de "We Are Motorhits And We Play Rock 'n' Roll " empezaron a enloquecer a la peña con clasicazos de los Motörhead de Lemmy Kilmister  , "Dr.Rock" , "No Class", "Metropolis", Motorhead", "Bomber", "We Are Motórhead" y "Born To Raise In Hell" ejecutadas de un modo tan salvaje y fiestero que te hacen valorar que es una suerte tener entre nosotros una banda como ellos .
"Damage Case" fue dedicada a la suegra de Xammy con un gran cachondeo y tras la versión de "Hellraiser" que Lemmy escribió para Ozzy y la versión de "Rockaway Beach"  de The Ramones , llegó el turno de "Rock 'n' Roll" dedicada a Martin Rodriguez de Sangtraīt en la que Javi Rojano de "Amaro" se hizo cargo de la bateria y .... del escenario !!!! Porque Toni , Xammy y Pepón con tambor bajaron a tocar entre el público en una fiesta cachondisima.

"Lockout" , " Orgasmatron" , "Kill By Death" y "Iron Fist" condujeron hacia el "casi final" y bis del Show con una emotiva presentación de la banda por parte de Xammy , luego si la memoria no me falla  creo que tocaon "Love For Sale"  y una loca "Ace Of Spades" con las tres bandas liandola parda en el escenario junto con Pepe Motörhead disfrutando de un final de fiesta apoteósico .
Por nuestra parte fué una "PEDAZO DE NOCHE" en que nos reencontramos con un montón de amig@s imposible de nombrar a tod@s sin triplicar el volumen de esta cronica !!!!.... y conocí a alguno@s entrañables más del facebook como Miky Bcn  e Iris Olivé Taché  . Muchas cervezas y risas con buena música y grandes amistades y Merchan solidario para La Casa De Los Xuclis"

We arrived shortly after the Brote band had started its performance, already encouraging the public that was there and was arriving at the Ibiza square.
With their current "Urban Rock" and a festive attitude and very good vibes, they were reeling off the songs of their album "Rock Contagioso" (2017) with very good acceptance from the public that witnessed their performance.
Immediately we saw Pepe and the concern on his face for the afternoon weather, he told us that there was much more scenery of spotlights and stage but that the lighting and sound technicians did not want to set up in case the rain made an appearance and thus be able to make a quick collection so that the equipment does not get wet.
At around 10:30 p.m., "Amaro" went on stage to a standing ovation and shouting from the audience, they opened their performance with "Sexo" and it must be said that they bet very, very strongly on their new album "Respira" (2021) since they played the first seven songs of the concert in the natural order of the album , of course it 's also a fixed shot , because the whiplash of the Lp that the Amaros released last year does not have a single note wasted , I remember watching their performance with my friends Javi Perez Galera and Sandra Sassenach dark Gothics who came to Festa Rock and didn't know "Amaro" and were blown away by Joana's voice, the quality of the band and her live performance.

Because Toni, Xammy and Pepón with drums came down to play in the audience at a very horny party.
"Lockout", "Orgasmatron", "Kill By Death" and "Iron Fist" led to the Show's "near end" and encore with an emotional introduction of the band by Xammy, then if memory serves me I guess They played "Love For Sale" and a crazy "Ace Of Spades" with the three bands messing it up on stage together with Pepe Motörhead enjoying a tremendous party finale.
For our part, it was a "NIGHT PIECE" in which we met again with a lot of friends impossible to name all of them without tripling the volume of this chronicle !!!!.... and I met some endearing people more from facebook like Miky Bcn and Iris Olivé Taché. GEORGE THOROGOOD & THE DESTROYERS ( Sala Apolo,12/07/22,Barcelona ,Spain) Review by Javier Barba Vallejo

 El pasado Martes día 12/7 dentro del marco de conciertos del "Festival de Guitarra de Barcelona" asistimos al concierto que ofreció la LEYENDA ( sí , sí en letras mayúsculas) del Rock , George Thorogood  en la sala Apolo de Barcelona ante un sold Out de una audiencia muy muy trotada en mil batallas de la vieja escuela rockera , muy pocas personas habrían menores de 50 años y casi o  ninguna menor de 40 , y eso se extendía también a los fans ingleses que llegaron en autocares que estaban aparcados por las inmediaciones de la sala.
Thorogood al fín actuó por primera vez en Barcelona junto a su inseparable banda The Destroyers  a sus 72 años de edad y tras 50 años de carrera musical , así que era uno de esos bolos en los que era "Ley" estar ahí .
Con un Apolo hasta las trancas y entregadisimo , no había grupo telonero , George Thorogood & The Destroyers  salieron al escenario "a pelo" a disfrutar y hacer disfrutar a su gente , a l@s fans del Rock 'n' Roll más clásico , no ví que la noche se inclinara mucho hacia el Blues si no por algún solo de guitarra con o sin el dedal de Bottle Neck que utilizo un rato largo , más bien la sentí del mejor Rock ' n ' Roll clásico y salvaje que veía en él  , el nexo de unión que podía haber entre el Rock de Eddie Cochran o Jerry Lee Lewis y el de The Ramones .
Fué una noche en que..... y como no , nos ofreció sus grandes éxitos comerciales , "I Drink Alone" , "One Bourbon , One Scotch , One Beer" , "Bad To The Bone" , la cachonda version "Tequila" y demás clasicos del Rock hasta cerrar con "Born To Be Bad"  , en lo que creo que será su única visita ya por estas tierras , encontrándose en una forma excelente , derrochando simpatía , profesionalidad y un gran respeto y agradecimiento a sus fans con quienes interactuó mucho , con gran simpatía y sin hacerse pesado en ningún momento , dejo que se lucieran en dos canciones a los Destroyers en solitario y les dio un gran protagonismo durante el show.
George Thorogood & The Destroyers aunque llegaron mayores a Barcelona nos deleitaron con una gran noche de Rock 'n' Roll y con ella pudimos reencontrarnos con grandes amig@s como todo el clan de los cuatro hermanos Cabanes Jordi , Joan , Isaac y Eloi con Vero , Anabel y Gemma con quienes estuvimos en el concierto , Jesús Moreno Pérez  , Albert Esteve  & Mercè Carbonell Artigas  , Arnau , Albert Morera Domenech  y un largo etc .... de reencuentros.
Siento un gran aprecio a este post , porque la emoción que sentí en este concierto , me ha hecho salir de un bache cargado de preocupaciones y mala leche venido por cortesía de nuestro nuevo banco quien a base de una pirula , intenta  dejárnos a pan con aceite de por vida y esclavizarnos a su servicio.
Por ello quizá me hayáis visto por conciertos como Exciter , Black Label Society o los tres días del gran Rock Fest con Ana , pero no he hecho crónica alguna de ellos , ya que no me era posible concentrarme y eso que Ana me instaba a escribir porque sabe que ahí me evado del Mundo , pero la pesadumbre que me provocaba todo este asunto me ofuscaba más .
Por suerte parece que tenemos "caminos" para escapar de las garras de esa pirula bancaria y continuar con nuestras vidas .
Así que aún seguiré dando la brasa con estas extensas crónicas....

It was a night when... and of course, he offered us his greatest commercial hits, "I Drink Alone", "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer", "Bad To The Bone", the horny version "Tequila "and other Rock classics until closing with "Born To Be Bad", in what I think will be his only visit to these lands, finding himself in excellent shape, wasting sympathy, professionalism and great respect and gratitude to his fans with who interacted a lot, with great sympathy and without becoming heavy at any time, he let the Destroyers shine on two solo songs and gave them a great role during the show.
George Thorogood & The Destroyers, although they arrived older in Barcelona, ​​delighted us with a great night of Rock 'n' Roll and with it we were able to meet again with great friends like the entire clan of the four Cabanes brothers Jordi, Joan, Isaac and Eloi with Vero , Anabel and Gemma with whom we were at the concert , Jesús Moreno Pérez , Albert Esteve & Mercè Carbonell Artigas , Arnau , Albert Morera Domenech and a long etc .... of reunions.
