For fans of Clutch, Down, Rage Against The Machine.
In 2022 I’LL BE DAMNED is
at it again. Armed with a constant flow of inspiration from a world
gone mad, the Danish band is pissed off about politics, religion, the
media and society in general. The new album, “Culture”, is more
well-structured than the prior albums regarding both riffing and overall
songwriting. And, with brilliant production value - courtesy of the
producer Tue Madsen and his Antfarm Studios - the Nordic five-piece has
finally reached the potential they promised in their previous two albums
and explosive live appearances.
With the addition of two new
members, Anders Gyldenøhr (ex-Grope, ex-Hatesphere) on drums and Mark
Damgaard on vocals, I’ll Be Damned has matured in a musical way that has
led to a more serious approach to the writing process. This is
showcased with an album - coming after “Road To Disorder” (2018) and
“I’ll Be Damned” (2017) - containing less humour, darker and more
aggressive riffs followed up by explosive vocals and lyrics that include
themes such as anger, desperation and hopelessness rather than sarcasm
and irony. However, the thematics of “Culture” still revolve around
hatred towards religion and politics, but also newer forms of extreme
cultural diversities.
Backed with influences such as Clutch,
Down and Rage Against The Machine, I’ll Be Damned fuses a potent yet
melodic and groovy punch in your face with lyrical sharpness and
unifying paroles – with an attitude.
“Culture” is out today on digital, CD and LP (transparent orange vinyl, limited to 300 units) via Mighty Music.
Lineup:
Mark Damgaard - vocals
Boris Tandrup - guitars
Kristian Sloth - lead guitars
Jens Lunde - bass
Anders Gyldenøhr - drums

Back in 2016 vocalist Liv Jagrell, known worldwide as the frontwoman for
Sister Sin, let the music world know that she had formed a new band. LIV SIN,
driven by massive guitar riffs and a heavy modern metal sound released
their debut album “Follow Me” in 2017. Their second album, “Burning
Sermons” was released in 2019. Both albums spawned multiple popular
singles such as "Let me Out" and "Blood Moon Fever".
Fast forward to 2023, after a two-year down period and revamped line-up,
LiV SiN is now completely recharged and ready to hit the stages again.
Not forgetting the record shops’ racks, with their new album,
“KaliYuga”. “KaliYuga” referring to the fourth of the four “Yugas” in
Hinduism, the era precisely dedicated to the present age, full of
conflict and... sin. The theme of Kali Yuga was also reflected in the
album’s writing process.
“Since we produced this album ourselves, we definitely tried out a
lot of new things, and I confess, I went a bit crazy with the vocals in
certain parts”, Liv declares.
Musically, “KaliYuga” is LiV SiN, on steroids! Jagrell explains how the
creative process developed into an energetic and varied set of songs: “We
took influences from everywhere, from newer metal acts such as
Architects, Parkway Drive to vocal inspiration from King Diamond. I am
ecstatic with the outcome”.
With such an album in hands, LiV SiN could only pick a production team
that would do justice to the songs. Simon Johansson (from Wolf and
Memory Garden fame) and Mike Wead (King Diamond and Mercyful Fate
axeman) were summoned to record the album, while the mix and mastering
duties were delivered to console-wizard Tue Madsen (Witchery, The
Haunted, At The Gates, etc). A winning team for a strong and cohesive
album that will for sure kick off 2023 in a true heavy way.
“KaliYuga” will be released on digital, digipack CD and LP (black vinyl,
limited to 500 units) via Mighty Music on January 27th, 2023.
Pre-orders are available here and here.

Founded
in late 2020 by sole member Erech to give home to the ancient tales of
the mythical realm Valdura, Ancient Mastery delivers Epic/Melodic Black
Metal with symphonic undertones. On his albums mastermind Erech combines
melodic Black Metal riffing, triumphant synths and folkish tunes with
occasional pop aesthesia, which is amplified by the chthonian timbre of
his companion Circe.
While “Chapter One” told about a group of adventurers and their travel to distant Valdura, “Chapter Two” focuses on the arrival of Aryun and his companions in that mythical realm. Unexpectedly drawn into a long simmering conflict between the corrupt government and the resistance in Valdura’s capital Tordal, they meet the female resistance leader Tabe who informs them of the plight they just encountered.
For songwriter Erech the six songs on “Chapter Two” are the logical continuation of the music on the debut, with perhaps a bit less overall focus on straightforward melodic Black Metal and instead playing with influences from Power Metal and atmospheric Black Metal sprinkled with classic Folk songwriting. To that end, and more often than on the debut, the throaty, intoxicating voice of Circe takes center stage besides the raspy Black Metal vocals of Erech, and there she truly shines.
Chapter One, originally released on CD by the Chinese label Pest Productions, is now re-released by Northern Silence in a fully enhanced version with new artwork and layout and including the previously unreleased bonus track “The Ballad of Tiga & Az’daerul”.
Both DigiCDs of „Chapter One” and „Chapter Two” come with their own 12-page fold-out poster booklet with the lyrics on one side and a map of the territory on the other.
The
vinyl version of „Chapter One” is out concurrently with the CDs,
alongside the LP of „The Chosen One”, released on CD by Northern Silence
a year ago. The LP of „Chapter Two” will be released some time in 2023.
Chapters One & Two recorded by Erech.
Chapter Two edited by Justin Chasteen, mastered by Widek
