ETERNALLY SCARRED – ECHOES FROM BENEATH Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of Armenian Melodic Death Metal project Eternally Scarred’s new album.

This release offers some powerful and catchy tracks which feel modern, fresh and full of energy while still having elements of darkness. Most of the first songs remind of current At The Gates, especially given the epic approach.

But as the album progresses, the tempo seems to slow down and equally solid Doom songs appear, mercilessly draining the energy previously offered. The release has no fillers and feels quite dynamic, although its length may make it tiring for some listeners. My personal highlights are “Brothers In Arms” and “If The Walls Could Talk”.

I recommend this album to fans of Death Metal, Melodic Death Metal and Death Doom Metal. My rating is of 9/10.

ANOMALY's 'Somewhere Within The Pines' Out Now and Streaming

Milwaukee (WI) - U.S. Progressive Death Metal band ANOMALY have released sophomore full-length album Somewhere Within The Pines. Purchase and streaming options are below!

"Somewhere Within The Pines finds ANOMALY grinding out the best music of their career. A band that needs to be signed to a big label like Century Media or Metal Blade Records."
- Wormwood Chronicles

"An impressive record that’s full of atmosphere, engaging storytelling, and smart songwriting. It’s a remarkable step forward from their previous work."
- Noob Heavy

"This isn’t your dad’s Death Metal."
- Metal Temple

"You can hear everything from classic death metal to some mid 90s Swedish melodic death, progressive parts, making you want to keep listening. The intention of not sounding standard is evident."
- Metallerium

A concept album written as a love letter to ANOMALY's progressive death metal influence, the material offered is of the ghastly, gruesome sort, as one will note from the "press statement" that follows!

BREAKING NEWS!

After the ninth missing child case in a little over the year, the police have admitted they may have a serial killer in the area. "These woods are deep and easy to get lost in," the sheriff said during a press conference on the latest missing child. "No remains have been found so we were hoping for the best, but now the time is to get real" "There's evil out there" one local stated. "I would NEVER let my kids go out there!"

The town has a history of bizarre violent crimes dating back over 100 years, including the case of Diana Davidson who was murdered by her husband before he shot himself in front of police. The words "DON'T BELIEVE THE SPIDER'S LIES" were written on the kitchen wall in Diana's blood. "The spider" likely refers to a local legend of a spider demon that lives in the woods. Stephine Weber, a Youtuber who gained notoriety when one of her videos exposed police incompetence to such a degree that the town's mayor resigned, said she will be doing a series documenting the area's nefarious history. "I just want to see if I can go out there and help, get a fresh pair of eyes on the situation," she said in her latest upload. Though law enforcement have expressed concerns over Weber's involvement, the parents of the missing children welcome any assistance available in solving the mystery.

Track Listing:

1. Cursed to Meet Another Sunrise
3. These Cold Weeping Winds
4. My Old Bleached Bones
5. Don't Go Out Into the Woods Alone
6. Sentenced to the Trees
7. One Last Glimpse At the Cursed Sun

Somewhere Within The Pines was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Ryan Kutz at Cherry Pit Studios

MOTIVE BLACK Releases Album Title Track "Auburn"!

Motive Black fittingly set to drop title track, "Auburn", from their debut full-length on Black Friday. Produced by Grammy-winner Nick Rowe (Bloodsimple, Vampire Weekend), the track digs deeper into the theme of the album.

Opening up about the central subject matter of her debut record with Motive Black, front woman Elana Justin says "'Auburn' is a song that means a lot to me. It means so much that I was almost hesitant to put it out. I lost my sister to her battle with addiction. She was one of the smartest women I will ever know. She was a straight-A student who aspired to be a doctor. Addiction does not discriminate. I am angry that she will never realize her dreams. This song is about loss, struggle, rage, but mostly it’s about missing my sister and all of her potential. I will never laugh with anyone like I did with Mia. We need to end the stigma associated with addiction. People are meant to be loved, not judged. I miss Mia every day, and I will for my whole life."

Watch the new MOTIVE BLACK video for "Auburn" HERE:

The upcoming album is titled Auburn, which Justin says "is named for my sister's beautiful
auburn-colored hair. Losing her forced me to reexamine my life and make significant changes. I went through a huge transitional period which included both ugly and beautiful experiences.
The album is a wild ride through that journey of anger, mania, deep love, and self discovery."

In addition to the vocal prowess of vocalist Elana Justin, the album features Nick Rowe on guitar, bass and co-songwriting credits; drummer Ray Luzier (Korn) on six tracks; guitarist Marcos Curiel (P.O.D.) on the first single "Broken"; and "special guest" Carla Harvey of Butcher Babies on the song "Lift Me Up". Harvey also co-starred in the video for that track and says: "I love collaborating with strong women on projects so when I was asked to add my vocals to "Lift Me Up", I happily obliged. The result...an infectious tune, a new found friendship...!"

Leah Brungardt at All Access has observed that “Los Angeles-based Motive Black is the creative phoenix born of singer Elana Justin’s pain, tenacity, and resilience.Brave Words and Bloody Knuckles calls the band “grooving alternative rock" and "crushing modern metal" and says "Elana's both powerful and fragile charismatic voice gets deep.”

Auburn
was produced at the legendary NRG Studios in North Hollywood, Calif. by Grammy-
winning Nick Rowe (Vampire Weekend, Lamb Of God, Madonna, Snoop Dogg) and mixed by Josh Wilbur (Lamb of God, Korn, Papa Roach). Motive Black will appeal to fans of Evanescence, Delain, Follow The Cypher, The Pretty Reckless, Halestorm, New Years Day, In This Moment, Shinedown.

1. Lift Me Up (feat. Carla Harvey)
2. Broken (feat. Ray Luzier, Marcos Curiel)

Out of Nowhere Shows Unity With Iranian Women on “Wrong Generation”

Out of Nowhere has dropped the music video for “Wrong Generation,” the new single where the djent/metalcore five-piece demonstrates solidarity and cohesion with the women and protesters in Iran, the band members’ home country. Out of Nowhere members shifted to Turkey last year to pursue their dreams and music endeavors, but their defiance against the oppressive system of Iran has always been bold and open, and despite immigrating to a new country, the band members could not remain silent when the women and protesters in Iran are risking their lives for their freedom. The ongoing protest erupted upon the death of Mahsa Amini, who — for not wearing the hijab according to the government standards — was arrested by the Iranian religious morality police. Amini later died in a hospital in Tehran under suspicious circumstances in a Tehran hospital. According to media reports, eyewitnesses and co-detainees witnessed the police brutally torture and insult her, purportedly sowing the seeds of a cerebral hemorrhage or stroke that resulted in her death on 16 September 2022

Formed in Mashad in 2010, Out of Nowhere has been one of the most active metal bands from Iran. Despite being from a country where metal is illegal and bands often get arrested for playing live or making music, Out of Nowhere never stopped releasing music or playing live in Iran regardless of the risk of being arrested by the oppressive regime.

Speaking of the track/video and the protest, Out of Nowhere offers:
“We dedicate this video to the women of Iran. To those who are fighting for their basic freedom and getting killed by the Government. These are our sisters, we lived there, and we feel people in our hearts. The young generation in Iran taught us how to be big and brave. They don’t want their youth and future ruined. We (Iranian People) are not from the violent generation. Everyone from everywhere has the right to have freedom, but we didn’t have even the basic ones. Also, we don’t have freedom of speech. Although we are young, most of our dreams were buried six feet deep because of the regime’s suppression, but we can’t stay silent when our brothers and sisters are getting killed every day in Iran.”

Israel's Twisted Mind Presents A Fiery New Brand of Happy Metal With New EP “From Slave To Prophet”

L- R - Lahav Zitiyat - Guitar, Oud, David Darash - Drums, Yanir Chmiel - Lead Vocals, Or Levy - Bass, Dan Saliman - Guitar, Bouzuki

Twisted Mind is an eclectic metal band influenced by a kaleidoscope of musicians that have inspired guitarist Dan Saliman, an Israeli musician of Yemenite and Moroccan-based heritage who grew up in a home where oriental music was frequently played. He formed the band in 2017 and in December, will have their debut album “From Slave To Prophet” ready to delight open-minded listeners around the world. The first single “Walked Through Hell”, captures the true essence of the band who shot the video in one night. They share their thoughts on the record and how they came up with the concept name:

This EP is all about our timeline from where we started back then at the beginning of the pandemic and through the war of getting rock and roll less stigmatic. We strive to be the ones who will break the glass ceiling of musical genres. We didn’t come from great money and wealth. We are warriors, fighting hard and aiming to become something bigger, something which will bring a “word”. And while we are on our way, we try to inspire people to fight for their beliefs, unite for a cause, open their minds to other points of view and create amazing things together which will maybe make the world a better place.”

Every member of Twisted Mind is a great believer in the power of music and its ability to bring different worlds and traditions together. They hope and aspire that the new mix of cultures and sounds in their music will break the invisible wall and crush the stigmas between the genres and their rigid rules. Overall, “From Slave To Prophet” is something, fresh, and different.

This modern Israeli and self dubbed 'Happy Metal' band is recommended for anyone looking for something intriguing, and also for fans of Metallica, Muse, and Dhafer Youssef. The official video for “Walked Through Hell” is out now and the EP comes out on December 9, 2022.

About: The AOR rock/metal group Twisted Mind was founded in 2017 by Dan Saliman, an Israeli musician of a Yemenite & Moroccan-based heritage. Dan grew up in a home where oriental music was a Major part of his musical background

After a long process of creating a musical concept, Dan was joined by the other members, achieving this final line-up. The four joining members helped mold the sound, bringing their own styles, influences, and cultural heritage to Twisted Mind, thus creating a powerful combination of music that fuses the power and aggression of heavy metal, throughout the liberating energy of modern rock & roll.

And all this while using ethnical Middle Eastern music – emerging from their homeland and from the band members’ heritage and their own family ‘DNA’.Starting in San’aa –Yemen, through Istanbul – Turkey, passing through the deserts of Libya and traveling the long roads to a garage in Los Angeles.

Crosson has the talent, songs, and, more importantly, the attitude to stand alongside the heavyweights of the genre and not look out of place." (Terry Craven – Velvet Thunder) (UK)

If it’s fist-pumping, uplifting, catchy stadium rock anthems that you are looking for, then it’s time to turn it up to eleven as Aussie Theatrical Glam Rockers CROSSON return all-guns blazing, with their sixth studio album Ready, Aim… Rock !!

Once again mixed by legendary U.S engineer/producer Duane Baron (Ozzy Osbourne, Motley Crue, Alice Cooper, Poison) and mastered by U.S mastering giant Dave Donnelly (Aerosmith, KISS, Whitesnake), Ready, Aim… Rock !! punches you in the face from the opening chords and erupts with ten infectiously catchy, highly addictive rock tunes.

Writer, vocalist, and producer Jason Crosson stated: ” ‘Ready Aim .. Rock !!’ is definitely the most sophisticated and mature CROSSON album to date. It still includes the catchy, stadium rock anthems that you’d expect, but being careful not to repeat ourselves and also grow musically, my admiration and respect for Jim Steinman ( writer for Meat Loaf / Bonnie Tyler) were channeled during the writing process which can be heard on songs like ‘United’,  ‘The Way It Is & ‘Love Is Endless’.

The album was tracked in Sydney at 3By3 Studios and introduces guitar virtuoso Marko Rado, whose solos will definitely raise eyebrows.  The band’s long-term live drummer Kyle Barr provides an explosive backbeat, whilst the Queen-esq backing harmonies will send chills down the listener’s spine.
The artwork was conceived by Jason Crosson and designed by internationally renowned concept artist and game designer Adam Kuczek whose film projects include major sci-fi features like 'Cloud Atlas' or 'Jupiter Ascending' and work for Warner Bros Pictures and Disney

Directed and edited by Lord Tim (Lord), the first video from the album, ‘United’, shows CROSSON in all their glory unleashing their electrifying, energetic, choreographed stage moves while showing the band’s history with archival footage.  The second video ‘Fallen From Grace’ depicts a horror movie setting with the CROSSON dancers appearing as fallen angels and casting their demonic spell over the band that transforms them into rock ‘n roll demons.

CROSSON will commence their Australian National tour in October with Sweden’s Crashdiet and Australia’s Sisters Doll.

“Rock will never die whilst there are bands like Crosson” (Adam Cox – Decibel Geek (CAN)

Ready, Aim…. Rock !! comes crashing from the stratosphere on 9 September 2022.
