Crystal Horizon - Crystal Horizon Radio Impact: 15 March 2024 Release: 15 March 2024

 CRYSTAL HORIZON - S/T

EP
MARCH 15th

Experimental, rising prog rockers Crystal Horizon is set to release their self-titled debut EP on March 15th!

Heavily influenced by fellow Norwegian prog heroes Leprous as well as legendary bands like Porcupine Tree and Radiohead in combination with their atmospheric choruses, melodic rhythm sections and hard-hitting drums,
Crystal Horizon truly explores the limitless potential found in modern melodic prog rock with their 5 track debut EP!

The EP is mixed by the legendary producer and engineer Chris Edrich known for his work with bands like Devin Townsend, Leprous, The Ocean, TesseracT and Klone.

Crystal Horizon about the EP:
The theme of the EP mostly deals with the periods in life where it feels like time almost stands still, both in your personal life and because of the destructive events happening around the world. The feeling of wasting your dreams and life itself, without being able to do anything about it is very present in some of the songs. There are also tracks where the lyrics are highly open to interpretation from the listener.
In a time where progressive music is on the rise and there are so many options available to new listeners, we like to push boundaries both rhythmically and harmonically, and we’re not caging ourselves to only one genre.  Because of this some of the tracks turned out both quite progressive and at the same time very atmospheric and melodic.
We are very proud to have been able to collaborate with Chris Edrich on this EP, and these songs would not have turned out this great without Chris's input throughout the process!”

FFO: Leprous, Tesseract, Sleep Token, Nothing But Thieves, Porcupine Tree

ABOUT:
Crystal Horizon is a fresh new rock band coming out of Kristiansand, Norway.
The band was formed at The University of Agder during covid times back in 2021, where all the band members got their bachelor degrees in music.
The band consists of experienced musicians with several different musical backgrounds, such as choirs, brass bands, and bands such as Dead Dispute (Metal) and Balgyp (Balkan/Jazz).
All these different musical backgrounds gives Crystal Horizon their sound; the gritty and melodic guitars, agile rhythm sections and melodic basslines, topped with vocal harmonies a bit out of the ordinary.
Crystal Horizon takes most of their inspiration from modern progressive rock and metal such as Leprous, Tesseract, Muse, Radiohead and Devin Townsend

SYK CRAFT MUSICAL ALCHEMY ON EARTHFLESH SYLVAINE RELEASES SECOND SINGLE EG ER FRAMAND NECROWRETCH RELEASE VIDEO FOR VAE VICTIS 1349 PLAYING DARK LORD FESTIVAL ARCHSPIRE ANNOUNCE 2024 NORTH AMERICAN SUMMER TOUR SEASON OF MIST SHOP

SYK CRAFT MUSICAL ALCHEMY ON EARTHFLESH
'eartHFlesh' out May 10!

syk - eartHFleshCrafting a sonic universe that defies traditional conventions, SYK transcends mere genre labels, forging a path that is distinctly their own. The Italian collective, known for its intricate compositions and relentless innovation, stands at the frontier of the extreme metal scene, challenging perceptions and pushing the limits of musical expression.

eartHFlesh, the eponymous first single from syk’s upcoming album, emerges as a relentless force, a tumultuous journey through realms of existential despair and raw, unbridled power. It’s a manifesto of scorn, rooted deeply within the Earth, a scathing critique of a world mired in deception and decay. The track serves as a colossal monument, embodying the spirit of revolt and the inexorable decay of the natural and spiritual world.

Drawing inspiration from the desolate reality of our existence, eartHFlesh mirrors the decline of society, the environment, and the very fabric of what it means to be human. It’s not just music; it’s a wake-up call, a stark reminder of the consequences of our collective apathy. “Scorn, rooted above and fallen on Earth,” Stefano echoes, a chilling prophecy of our own making.

"eartHFlesh is about all of us and how decadence permeates our world, often manifested through brutal violence." Says Stefano. "We’re in a time of transition where evil is mostly manifested through power. The same power that promoting ignorance degraded our planet killing the importance of being an individual instead of a passive citizen."

SYLVAINE RELEASES SECOND SINGLE EG ER FRAMAND
'Eg Er Framand EP' out March 22!

Sylvaine - Eg Er FramandOn her new EP, Sylvaine traces back to her roots in Norwegian folk music. Eg Er Framand was recorded at the Kampen Church in Oslo, where she performed while studying music in high school.

When Sylvaine first heard the title track, it hit her like no other song had before. Since then, she's shared this song with rapturous audiences everywhere. Today, she's releasing a new recording of "Eg Er Framand" that finds her searching for a higher, lonely power.

Kathrine Shepard has grown into a guiding light for post-metal. As Sylvaine, her white-hot tremolo picking can ignite the coldest and blackest of hearts. She plays every instrument on Eg Er Framand, but the title track has no enchanting synths or eerie organ hums. Instead, the EP's emotional centerpiece is solely powered by her otherworldly voice.

Kjaere Herre (Dear being of light)
om eitt eg ber deg (With this I beg of you)
Fylg og lei meg (Take my hand)
fylg og le meg alltid du (Show me the way always you)

Sylvaine holds each note with soft restraint, as if cupped into the palm of her hand, like an offering. Close your eyes and envision her reaching through the trees, into the shadows, as her feet slowly lift off the ground.

"In the spring of 2023, when I had the idea to base this EP around Norwegian Folk music, I knew this song would be its center piece", Kathrine says. "This song has taken a place deep within my soul. My first meeting with 'Eg Er Framand' truly shook me to my core. Immediately, I knew that I wanted to share this incredibly beautiful piece. I have performed 'Eg Er Framand' on stages all around the world. Very often, I've been met with the exact same intense, emotional response from the audience. I have no idea who wrote this song, but it speaks to the exact same feelings I've spent the last 10 years trying to capture with Sylvaine".

NECROWRETCH RELEASE VIDEO FOR VAE VICTIS
      'Swords of Dajjal' out now!

Necrowretch - Swords of DajjalSince their creation, NECROWRETCH have proudly carried the mark of the beast. A decade ago, these devil worshippers emerged alongside the old school death metal revival. But their new album casts the French band in a bigger, blacker and more Satanic mold.

"Any move toward what's considered true black metal is a good thing and Necrowretch stride with furious momentum in that particular direction", writes Black Metal Terror. "These are the fabled days of world end and I can think of no finer record to track the sound of it all than Swords of Dajjal".

Swords of Dajjal is out now. To celebrate the mass fanfare that has greeted their latest offering, today, Necrowretch are releasing a new video for one of the album's deeper cuts.

While forged with newfound mysticism, Swords of Dajjal was drawn from real life experience. Living in Turkey during the tail end of the last decade inspired Necrowretch's lead swordsmith Vlad to create their new album in the splitting image of the Antichrist. Each song warns of a harrowing prophecy brought down by Dajjal, who reigns fire over "Vae Victus".

"Woe to the vanquish!" snaps Vlad, brandishing his pale but bloodied fangs.

Indeed, "Vae Victus" is pure savagery. The blast beats waste no time, galloping ahead like the horsemen of the apocalypse through a sandstorm. But Necrowretch can slice and dice from all angles. Walls of trembling, melodic distortion close in, only for this song to sneak up and crush you with a headbanging riff that swings down with all the brute force of a meat clever.

"Malheur aux vaincus!" Vlad says in greetings of his band's new single. "History testifies that only the strongest survive and that prophetic wisdom still continues in the world we are living in. 'Vae Victus' is based the story upon the sack of Rome in 390 BC, where the Gauls defeated the Romans and imposed their conditions on the vanquished. In torment and disgrace, only the ruthless man, the survivor, can become a king. In chaos and torment, only the lawless man, the compeller, can become the bestower of Life and Death".

      Tracklist
      1. Ksar Al-Kufar (4:22)
      2. The Fifth Door (5:30)

      6. Vae Victis (4:18)
