The Outsider - "From Ancient Gods and Forbidden Books"

Avant-Garde Extreme Metal from Mexico

The Outsider is one-man project founded in early 2016, started as a Symphonic Death Metal band with Middle-East music influences band for the first releases, highly influenced by bands like Therion, Septicflesh, Fleshgod Apocalypse and Rotting Christ. The sound for this first era also includes a slight touch of experimentation, serialism and twelve-tone technique.

In 2019 The Outsider announced a shift on the musical direction of the project, turning into an extreme Avant-Garde metal act, taking influences from a wider spectrum and having more experimentation on its music, as well as a heavy use of non-tonal and dissonant solos, chords and melodies, it has been stated that despite this change the orchestral and Middle-East sound found on previous release will still be part of future releases.
In 2020 a second album going under these new musical direction  and called "From Ancient Gods and Forbidden Books" was released, now rooted on Death, Black and Doom Metal and with influences from jazz and even drone, as well as a slight touch of electronic music.

This album is also notable for intruducing the 8 DIMENSIONAL AUDIO effect on some songs (an effect that, when listened with headphones, make some tracks revolve around your head), particularly found on the song "The Headless Horror", as well as a real choir ensamble and a PREHISPANIC instruments ensamble. The album is heavily influenced by bands like Sigh, King Crimson, Ihsahn, Voivod and composers like John Zorn, Krzysztof Penderecki and Olivier Messiaen, additional to the above mentioned for the first releases.

Three singles where droped prior the release of the album.
All the music on the project is written, arranged and performed by The Outsider (except where noted)
The lyrics for the project are obscure. A part of them are heavily inspired by the cosmic horror writting style by H.P. Lovecraft, specially for the first releases. For the second album, Lovecraft inspired lyrics are still present but the concept of the album is about horror that can be found in humanity, society, human psyche as well as  dark sci-fi scenarios and mythology.

The Outsider is also know for having very special guests from important bands on its releases. For this second album the special guests are Jørgen Munkeby (Shining), Kelly Shaefer (Atheist), Kristian Niemann (Sorcerer, ex-Therion) and Rick Loera (The Legion of Hetheria), and for previous releases: Snowy Shaw (ex-Dimmu Borgir, ex-Mercyful Fate, ex-Therion), Joey Concepcion (The Absence), Antony Hämäläinen (Ex-Nightrage), Nalle Påhlsson (Therion) and Thomas Vikström (Therion, ex-Candlemass)
