ANGEL OF VENGEANCE – ANGEL OF VENGEANCE ( Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of Thai Power Metal band Angel Of Vengeance’s debut self-titled album.
To prove their classical influences, they start this album with a toccata as intro, and straight after you get sunken into the epic “Open Your Eyes”, a great song if it wasn’t a total rip-off of Helloween’s “Eagle Fry Free”. Nevertheless, the other songs that are seemingly original take the band as a main influence together with Stratovarius, Labyrinth and other similar artists. The solos are also a quite positive attempt of Yngwie Malmsteen’s style.
While the lyrics may seem quite mediocre, the vocals are well delivered with an average voice that’s able to reach higher tones than others. All the musicians have an advanced technique, although the compositions lack some originality, that even if it gives them a good old-school feeling that is very reminiscent of the Keeper Of The Seven Keys 1 and 2 (a deed not many Power Metal bands attempt), some songs feel a little boring, except for some good highlights like “Karmageddon (Curse Of Evil)” or “Blood Of The Brothers”.
I recommend this album to fans of Power Metal and Neoclassical Metal. My rating is of 7/10, but if all the songs were original it would definitely be much higher.
