FLUSH - PUNK ROCK/FINLAND

Helsinki-based punk rock band Flush have just released their debut album on October 23rd. It is titled 'It Began as a Mistake' and was produced by Finland's most esteemed metal producer Hiili Hiilesmaa (e.g. HIM, Amorphis, 69 Eyes). The 13 tracks are a mix of Flush's trademarks, fast and melodic punk rock combined with riff-based alternative rock and occasional experiments in sound and rhythm. As the Bukowski-inspired album title might suggest, lyrically the band deals with themes on the darker side of life: depression, anxiety, addiction, substance abuse and the overall state of the world today. The band still aspires to instill hope, and hopes the music will help to shine some light into the dark we currently live in.

Flush's sound has traces of punk rock bands like Bad Religion and Hüsker Dü, but they have also been compared to bands like Sonic Youth, Placebo, Biffy Clyro and The Hold Steady - and many more. The band members claim to be fans of a lot of metal, hard rock, classic rock, punk rock, alternative rock, power pop, nu-metal, and even some death metal and rap.
