SADISTIC EMBODIMENT – BLOOD SPELL ( Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of Canadian Death Metal band Sadistic Embodiment’s debut album.
Mastering the grooves of Six Feet Under and Firespawn, this band displays the brutality of early Hypocrisy with the right amount of technicality to bring enough melody to be interesting without losing aggressiveness.
With swarming riffs in the style of Rotting Christ under the gory banner of Death Metal combined with putridly elegant vocals and filling drums, this band quickly demonstrates with a swift tour de force their talent. Thanks to the addition of slow and melodic solos they are also able to transmit feeling beyond their brutality. You only have to hear songs like “Catherine’s Braid” or “Gallows Hill” to be sure of the power displayed.
I recommend this album to fans of OSDM, Brutal Death Metal and Black Death Metal.
