Today’s review is of American Heavy Metal band Incursion’s new concept EP.
This release narrates the Hunter’s quest to rule all the land, and this sword & sorcery topic fits really well with the epic touch of the music. While they sound a lot like early NWOBHM bands, they bear the most similitude to acts like Hell, Savatage and Witchfinder General. In fact, depending on the tracks, one may even be reminded by Helloween or Candlemass by the different approaches on every song.
The tracks I highlight are “Warrior Of Destruction”, which has a really Saxon-like main riff combined with the outstanding vocal performance visible throughout the EP to deliver a good beginning to the release4, and also “Fade To Black”, since it is perhaps the most epic song on the EP.
I recommend this to fans of NWOBHM and Epic Heavy Metal. My rating is of 9/10.
