Today’s review is of International Black Metal band Palus Somni’s debut album.
Consisting of a flagrant line-up, this supergroup definitely doesn’t disappoint with their dissonant debut. With dark sonorities and a pretty modern and innovative sound that doesn’t stray at all from pure Black Metal (much like Akhlys, since Eoghan is behind the drums in this project), these mesmerising songs about the physical and metaphysical universe will drag you deep within their furious soundscape.
The aggressive tempo of this absolutely darker than night album doesn’t seem to diminish in any instance, even if complex melodies of absolute chaos swarm the music in tracks like “Igneus Solis” or “Sidus Ludovicana” as instrumental backgrounds for a possessed vocal performance.
I recommend this album to fans of Black Metal. My rating is of 9,5/10.
