RAMCHAT – ZNELO LESOM (Review By Varg The Mighty)

Today’s review is of Slovakian Pagan Metal band Ramchat’s new album.

Combining the raw power of bands like Pocculus, Falkenbach or Skyforger with a slightly more modern appproach to the genre in the likes of Kampfar, the band has achieved the creation of a strong album with definitely no fillers in sight. It mostly tends towards a less raw kind of Blackened Folk Metal with good production and elaborate and beautiful passages that don’t hurt in any way its extremity (take for instance “Ladová Plán”, but the composition also displays clear traces of fresh and classic melodies influenced by rawer releases.

This release may also remind of more modern acts, especially the style of Polish bands, but their sound is quite unique and well developed. Thanks to a good musicianship, dark atmospheres that reminisce the times of nature’s stronger reign have been perfectly achieved on this full-length. My personal highlights are “Loz A Zlc” and “Cesta”, but the whole release is recommendable.

I recommend this album to fans of Blackened Folk Metal and Pagan Metal. My rating is of 9,5/10.
