ULTIMATIUM – VIRTUALITY ( Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of Finnish Power Metal band Ultimatium’s latest album, “Virtuality”.

This notably long release starts with a pretty Heavy Metal feeling that highly reminds of early Queensrÿche, but as the songs keep on playing, this comparison starts to become less adequate as clear Helloween influences start to come in tinted with sweet Progressive Metal hints. There are also some ballads with a popish sound that give the whole a better commercial appeal but that for some people may appear as skippable tracks.

Composed with the utmost talent traditionally associated with the genre, the album’s keyboard and guitar solos don’t overshadow too much the rhythmic instrumentations and complement decently the different vocal performances. My personal highlights are “Run Like The Wind” and “Ghost Of Yesterday”.

I recommend this album to fans of Power Metal and Progressive Metal. My rating is of 8,5/10.
