POLTERGEIST – THE DEMOS (Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of Swiss Thrash Metal band Poltergeist’s upcoming remaster and rerelease of their early demos, out on January 14th.

This rerelease gives a better sound to some nice songs that have mostly been overlooked in the genre, making them also more accessible to new thrashers. With the same carefree approach as most American Thrash bands and with their Speed Metal influences being pretty present, the band’s demos may remind of (very) early Anthrax. Some songs also have a slightly epic yet malicious and speedy side to them, reminding also of early Helloween or SDI.

Overall, the release is a decent piece of Thrash that may be enjoyed by any fan of the genre who still isn’t familiar with the band. Any enjoyer of the old-school will surely love songs such as “Writing On The Wall” or “Shooting The Star”, and now their freshness is preserved with a slight increase in audio quality.

I recommend this album to fans of Thrash Metal. My rating is of 8,5/10.
