Today’s review is of French Deathgrind band Putrid Offal’s compilation.
Consisting of remastered versions of some early splits and demos, this release serves as a great introduction with a slightly improved sound for anyone who enjoys violent and gory forms of carnage and still aren’t familiar with the band.
Delivering cavernous and truly putrid sonorities throughout short, aggressive and straightforward yet obscure songs, the band creates an aura that is similar to contemporary bands such as Carcass or especially Pungent Stench, but their compositions have a clear and unique identity to them. If you like classic and merciless Grindcore plagued with caveman riffs and furious vocals, Putrid Offal have you covered. For newcomers of the subgenre, this is an ideal introductory compilation to a legendary act.
I recommend this release to fans of Grindcore and Deathgrind. My rating is of 9,5/10.
