KISS - END OF THE ROAD (1973/2023) Review by David Kiss

 SPA:

Foto 16 despedida Rock fest, aparecieron ycuando sonó I was made for loving you, saltaron las lagrimas, me di cuenta que nunca mas volveria a escuchar esa cancion en directo y sucedieron unos temas mas que brotaron mas  lagrimas.

En su historia yo puedo chillar I WAS THERE!

ENG:

Well, it took me a few days to digest the farewell to my entire group since 80/81 Kiss, 43 years of devotion, joys, sadness, deaths, deceptions and disappointments.

Except for my parents and my friend Alfredo, no one has spent so many years so close to me, not women, girlfriends, children, etc.: (not to be confused with love). A bittersweet taste through my personal kiss story that I am going to tell in a reduced way, in what are for me the precise and marked moments, possibly I will forget some, but that would possibly be for a book...

I was in the first year of Bup and my class friend (Alfredo) told me that a Kiss album was for sale, I told him that I would buy it photo1 Dynasty, although I was influenced by rock and roll, the disco music of the late 70s , yes it was very present in my childhood and pre-adolescence, seeing that cover with the 4 faces made up and listening to I was made for… was my anthem for a long time (and is still very present today).

A few weeks later a magazine appeared in the stationery store next to the school (photo 2) This is the Kiss life, a classmate went ahead and bought it, I requested it at a kiosk in my neighborhood and it took them two weeks to bring it to me, the stickers This magazine covered my folder that year, every night before going to bed I read the magazine, no math, no language, no homework, no nothing😂, noon I was done and night this is life, I learned the names of the components, and I dreamed of seeing them in concert, I don't know why my obsession in my mind was to see them in Madison Square Garden in New York, perhaps because they were formed there, they lived there, as a teenager I imagined seeing them there.Mi primer pirata (foto3) sneak attack, seeing that album hanging in Edisons could not be missing from my poor collection, followed by my first Spanish single (photo 4) Shock me Spanish from Diaco Alive 2 for 150 pesetas in Helter Skelter.

Year 83 they announced a concert in Barcelona (photo)5, I couldn't believe it, I could finally see them live, (photo 6), I would finally see their faces, although I had already seen them in a photo in Bravo magazine, it was a Shock, although I didn't care about the makeup, I think I had only seen them in the Christmas program on the Tocata program and the video clip I Love It Loud, with Lick It Up their video clip already appeared, but that concert was amazing.

Photo 18 trip to Donington 1988 record ticket sales, from 10 in the morning in the front row, several dead, bottle fight, I thought I would die in the line of duty without seeing Kiss  😅😂5 years without seeing them, when My eyes came out and were filled with tears, crazy nights, my fanaticism had increased in large doses, living in the 80s, being a fan of Kiss was very hard, the moñas wearing makeup, making disco music, pop, etc (photo7) still on fire that book He showed me pirates, singles that I had never seen in my life and that eventually found their way into my private collection.(Photo 8 the death of Eric Carr, the same day that Freddy Mercury died, a small obituary in the newspaper made me cry a lot, I saw him three times in concert, I liked him very much and I completed the cycle by buying my personal gold record. sales of Hot in the Shade to his sister, I personally communicated my excitement at having that album, since on the day of his death I listened to that album over and over all morning without being able to stop crying.

Photo 17 Kiss tour in England I'm going to Cardiff in 92, walking through its streets I saw a huge queue, they were signing Kiss and they were leaving, I went in as best I could and everything was full of the tallest English people in the world, I shouted Paul from Barcelona, ohh yeah he came towards He took my Revenge album and signed it over Bruce's signature, 😅😅🙂🙂 everyone watching Koeman's goal winning the first European Cup me watching Kiss and almost killing myself to pick up the guitar that he broke in That concert, with 3 guys bigger than me, they didn't take it from me, a roadie jumped to separate it and flipped a coin, I don't know what the other guy had asked for, but I looked at the coin I saw its face, I picked up the guitar and legs Because I love you😂😂😂, I hid behind some steps and I saw how the three turkeys were looking for me, a local security saw everything, opened the emergency door and I ran out, 30 meters into the race two guys caught me and they showed me my police badge (they were secret)😂😂they made me lift my shirt to see what I was hiding... Paul Stanley's guitar! I screamed, they let me go, I arrived at the hotel shaking, torn shirt, scratches, blood all over my upper part of my body...Photo 12, kiss announce reunion in 96, boom everything explodes for me, without internet, I had to go to a cyber, I couldn't get tickets, I connected once a week, they put tickets on sale for the American tour, but what was I looking for? I? … fulfill my dream Madison Square Garden, 4 originals, sold out those two nights, I couldn't believe it every week connecting, tickets to all the concerts and sold out in NY, I didn't care, I traveled days in advance and 4 nights in a row I was able to fulfill that I dream as a teenager in my tiny room reading this is life Kiss, Donald Trump by my side, skid row, anthrax, shannon, nick, gene, Ace, I saw them all in person at the hotel where Kiss was staying. In photo 12 is the official tour poster with the 4 framed tickets from those concerts in NY.

Photo 9,10,11, 13 kiss in Barcelona, I ate that entire tour Madrid, Zaragoza and obviously Barcelona, they stayed in Barcelona for 5 days, I chased Gene in his limousine, and I was alone with him, I was shaking everything and he didn't say a word, I explained to him that the previous year I had gone to see them 4 nights in Ny, asking me where I was from, I was amazed that he was from Barcelona, he invited me to the concert, signing my rock & roll over tattoo, the same one that appears On the second coming DVD, Paul and Peter also signed my arm, I have a space waiting for Ace to capture the only one I'm missing👏

Gene invited in Barcelona (photo 14), with my koala Jon I make him up and dress him up as Demon, I hear a murmur I see my son turn around and it's Gene taking him by the shoulder and introducing himself, no

I could believe it, they took it to the photocall and Gene and Jon appeared in a lot of newspapers.

Another dream as a kid (photo 14, 15) was to have a photo with them wearing makeup, I never wanted to pay for a meet & greet, so much in fashion in recent years, I always believed that I already gave enough money as a fan (records, magazines, merchandise, concerts ) but the virgin appeared in the form of Gene's partner and promised me that photo with them if they came to Barcelona, I didn't believe it, but the guy more than delivered in Barcelona and the next day in Madrid, when I finished taking the photo I found him in the hallways, I hugged him and I couldn't stop crying, I thought I would never achieve it, but I achieved that dream. And twice!!🤟🏻🤣🤣.Photo 16 farewell Rock fest, they appeared and when I was made for loving you played, tears came, I realized that I would never listen to that song live again and a few more songs happened that brought more tears.

I thanked them for being part of my adolescence, my life and being part of my family, 37 concerts in a few different stages and formations, the fans of the old stage know what I'm talking about and the lip service fans who They don't know that I Was Made is their most popular song worldwide.

In your story I can scream I WAS THERE!

Thank you for making me happymany moments of my life.

DAVID KISS

THUNDERBLOOD – THE FINAL BEGINNING ( Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of Australian Groove Metal band Thunderblood’s debut album.

This release presents a thrashy kind of Groove Metal mixed with easier going Rock riffs and an epic undertone to some of their songs, all wrapped in the rawness of a new band. As a result, you have catchy, almost Alternative riffs with heavily American influences intertwined with sweet guitar licks and occasional displays of heaviness, such as in harsher vocals, that may appeal to fans of modern metal that still miss hallmarks of the 90s.

My personal highlights are “Crocodile Eggs” and “Being Unto Death”. I recommend this album to fans of Groove Metal, Thrash Metal, Alternative Metal and Modern Metal. My rating is of 7,5/10.

PESTILENGTH – BASOM GRYPHOS ( Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of Basque Death Metal band Pestilength’s new album.

This release is essentially dissonant and apocalyptic Death Metal in the likes of early Morbid Angel and Immolation, with the blackened and nightmarish approach of Portal, although this release has a rawer production that approaches it further to Black Metal while maintaining similar atmospheres. You will also find some Doom-ish riffs that bring Spectrum Mortis to mind, though this full-length delves into a much more abstract soundscape with only the demented vocals to guide you through their hellish blend of dissonance and oppressiveness. My personal highlights are “Engtlant Suhb” and “Tephra Codex”.

recommend this album to fans of Death Metal, Dissonant/Atmospheric Death Metal, Blackened Death Metal and Blackened Doom Metal. My rating is of 9/10

ABJECT MENTOR – ABOMINACIONES (Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of Mexican Death Metal band Abject Mentor’s new album. This release mostly displays the raw and primitive aggression of the Latin American Death Metal scene mixed with furious Spanish vocals. However, this album also has some very noticeable Black Metal influences that will imbue you with darkness while you bang your head. There are also some melodious solos that make the full-length differ from a simple display of bestiality, but it is still undeniably extreme.
My personal highlights are the title track and “Apóstol Del Mal”.
I recommend this album to fans of Death Metal, War Metal and Blackened Death Metal.
My rating is of 8,5/10.

DEIMLER – IMMORTALIZED (Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of Spanish Death Metal band Deimler’s upcoming new album, out on November 25th.

This full-length feels more melodic than their previous releases, but thanks to a powerful drumming and many smashing riffs still infesting the songs, it marks a good continuation in their discography that can be enjoyed by the same audience without lowering their standards at all. If you’re looking for merciless Death Metal with punishing slow parts, epic melodies and cavernous low tuning and growls, look no further, Deimler is still your safe option.

Some of the tracks that will help immortalize the album in everyone’s subconscious are probably the title track and “Suffocating Parasite”. I recommend this album to fans of any kind of old-school Death Metal.

My rating is of 9/10.

BURIED SOULS – WHISPERS ( Review by Varg The Mighty)

Today’s review is of Swiss Death Metal band Buried Souls’ new album.

This release offers some powerful and dynamic Death Metal with a dark atmosphere and neck breaking riffs. There are also slower parts that lean sometimes even fully towards Doom Metal in a cohesive way, and there’s also a constantly present touch of Sludge throughout the full-length that ties together in a natural way the fast and slow sections.

As a result, the album may appeal to fans of putrid, hard hitting and ultimately rotten Metal, marinated in the gloomiest of marshlands. My personal highlights are “Insurance Of Closed Life” and the title track.

I recommend this album to fans of Death Metal and Death Sludge Metal. My rating is of 8,5/10.

BUTCHER BABIES /ASTRAY VALLEY ,SALA SALAMANDRA 27/06/23 (REVIEW BY JAVIER BARBA VALLEJO)

 ESP:

Darkest Times , Firehearts , Northlights , Hollow , la buenísima Pray For The Devil , Singularity , Constellations , Your Skin , Erased y Negra Noche.

ENG :

Last Tuesday 3/27 I attended the concert offered by the band Butcher Babies in the Salamandra room of L'Hospitalet del Llobregat (Barcelona).
The day was going to be long and I asked for a party at work, the real one because if it was for writing rock chronicles I was going to eat hot only on February 31st!!!!
Jokes aside, I consider Butcher Babies one of the "new" bands (they are already in the tenth anniversary of their debut album Goliath 2013) with a great original and innovative proposal of recent times in the Metal World.
For this reason they deserved to catch me on a holiday and go to Salamandra's door first thing in the morning to get some autographs, but not anywhere... Butcher is important to me so they had a place reserved for their signatures inside my "Metal Vest" and in one more guitar for my private collection of signed guitars, I bought this one in particular for ZakK Wilde and his Black Label Society to sign on their last visit, but when I saw the smoke they brought Just getting out of the van of Yankee arrogance and superiority and total contempt for their fans, including their "Spain Chapter", I took the guitar from them and took it to the car because they gave me tremendous personal bad vibes and I don't want something like that stuck in My house , but musically I love the BLS and Zakk . In fact , I have all his discography and his autograph when Ozzy 's guitar playing as a youngster appeared in the audience after the concert .
But people change and times change and that guitar was not for him. And it was on "stand by" until a band worthy of it arrived, and it was the Californian@s Butcher Babies who signed it.

I arrived in Salamandra around 9:30 before the band's tour van and had a leisurely breakfast in the shade on a terrace of a Chinese bar in front of the room with privileged vision, and after an hour and a half a Tour van with a Danish license plate trailer, I went to the door and when some roadie got out I saw that the band was inside and I was the only fan who was around, so everything was relatively easy for me.
I had a short conversation in Spanish with Maggie, the tour manager, a very nice Colombian girl and soon members of the band were leaving, the first Henry Flury and Ricky Bonazza who kindly attended me and signed the vest and the guitar, then they left Heidi Shepherd and Carla Harvey, although they're both beautiful, I'm a big fan of Carla's, they're both very nice too, although Heidi's more picky, she signed my vest, but when she saw the guitar, she didn't want to sign it because she said it was to sell on Ebay. I explained to him that I am a real Butcher fan and that it was for me a private collection that was not for sale and in fact I did not take photos with the band and the guitar to prove its authenticity on Ebay, before my eyes and his family he agreed and she stamped the biggest and hesitant signature of the entire band, followed by Carla with all the sympathy in the world and without any reluctance, she signed hers and they both signed me the Lilith cd (2017) that I had already signed by the rest of the band in another occasion when the entire group signed the impressive session photograph that hangs in my room.

It would not be the 12 that already had almost all the signatures, I was missing the drummer that did not come out anywhere and I asked Maggie about the Ex-Megadeth Chase Brikender whom I met on his last visit when they presented Lilith, but Maggie told me that Chase he had left the band and now the drummer was a certain Blake who was sleeping inside the van, I asked him about his physical appearance to recognize him and he told me "Long blonde hair", I thanked Maggie and stood guard at the door of Salamandra in front of the door of the van while the hours passed, I looked on the internet for information about the departure of Chase from Butcher Babies but no media echoed the news, I found nothing and looking at videos of his latest performances in Europe and expanding the battery I I made an image of what this Blake was like... well, it turned out that he got a quince sobada and at almost 3 in the afternoon I went to eat on the Chinese terrace again, until half a bacon sandwich with cheese Blake gets out of the van in the direction of my table with Brazilian flip-flops and a sobao face following the instructions of the GPS on his mobile, I intercepted him and kindly signed a vest and guitar and continued his march in search of the rest of the musicians.
I adjusted my sandwich to the one who doesn't forgive a crumb and I went home to rest, to come back later.

I went back and before entering I was having a few beers with two of the greats of the Metal scene in the city Pepe Motorhead ( Jose Manuel Perez ) and Javi Metaliko .
Together we already entered the room with a capacity of about 200 or 250 people, I would say, to see the guest band Astray Valley, whom I only knew by hearsay from accompanying Modern Metal bands on tours with frontwomen like Jinjer or Infected Rain in between. others and in my ignorance I thought they were foreigners, to my surprise they are from Barcelona so I had to see them yes or yes!!!!.... And they were very convincing for all the public and a pleasant surprise for those who didn't we knew them
Astray Valley is made up of five musicians, Clau Violette, an impressive and beautiful female singer with melodic and guttural voices in the purest Lena Scisorhands style who has collaborated with them or Carla Harvey herself, Unai Splinters drums, Joan Aneris guitar, Jorge Romero under these two with one more denim of "Modern Metal" on stage and Adri Funérailles guitar and guttural voices supporting Clau, special mention to Adri with a look cloned of the baddest Lemmy of the Bomber era even in poses with his guitar and some very crucifix Tony Iommi, gives the group a brutal touch of classicism playing this type of Metal on stage and they offered a very good live show, musically they all sound very professional and compact, they brought forward two songs from their next album that were outstanding, like this We must not lose sight of this piece of group that is already flying internationally and I wish them all the luck and success they deserve and very well for Clau who vindicated the role of women in the current New Metal scene.

The nine whiplashes of songs they offered were:
Darkest Times, Firehearts, Northlights, Hollow, the great Pray For The Devil, Singularity, Constellations, Your Skin, Erased and Black Night.
And after the break for the disassembly - assembly in the darkness of the stage Blake was seen taking position behind the drums , while Henry and Ricky took positions before the shouting of the public , until like a whirlwind Heidi and Carla jumped on the donkey on the stage . The stage opened with Red Thunder, chaining it with Best Friend and with Monsters Ball the audience was crazy, the hair pinwheels that the blonde Heidi and the brunette Carla did between jumps and the brutal live performance of these two brown beasts, made that although little public we all bounced around and there was a lot of pogo and the fact is that the songs and the band's live performance on songs like Sleeping With The Enemy, Gravemaker, Beaver cage, It's Killin' Time Baby or Bottom Of A Bottle invited us to do the caveman everything what you could !!! Henry Flury, with an eight-string guitar and a neck that I saw as super wide, played with brutal ferocity, nailed for a great group like Butcher with songs like Last December, Koroba or Yorktown totally gone from chestnut, both Rick and Henry filled the stage giving a good direct running through it from side to side and exalting the public, both with very good vibes like the girls.
Heidi took the lead more in interacting with people and always with her most brutal and gymnastic live performance with the most melodic and torn voice of a deranged schizoid when she feels like it, Carla melodic when she wants and fierce guttural bestial when she requires it, both thus achieve the combination explosive of this great group, before the two final songs they began to talk and toast shots with, by and for the Barcelona public that had welcomed them so well and with Headspin and Magnolia Blvd they said goodbye to the concert that we all missed he made it short, by not doing a single encore.
Although it was commented on the way out that it was short, of all the people I spoke to were impressed with the concert they had given.
As always, it's a pleasure to meet friends like Lidia Valle Carrasco, Jordy Stanley, Rubén Rosas, Derlis Kilmister and many more....I'm sure we'll be seeing them again on 10/11 together with Fear Factory and Ignea at Razz.

YSKELGROTH – BLEEDING OF THE HIDEOUS ( Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of Spanish Blackened Death Metal band Yskelgroth’s new album.

This release offers some hard-hitting Death Metal with modern-feeling melodies and a general tendency towards Black Metal without abandoning its gory roots. As a result, this album may be enjoyed by fans of Black and Death Metal alike.

Although there isn’t really any memorable element on the album, it is a decent piece of Extreme Metal with no fillers. My personal highlights are “The Morbid Earth” and “Plagueridder”.

I recommend this album to fans of Blackened Death Metal and Death Metal. My rating is of 8/10.
