SARTORI - Dragon's Fire (ROCKSHOTS Records Release: 28 January 2022)

Rockshots Records is proud to announce their signing of SARTORI for the release of their forthcoming debut album "Dragon's Fire" due out on January 28, 2022.

The epic full length is nine tracks of neo-classical power metal that is melodic, technical, and progressive. Led by main composer and guitarist Andy Sartori, with vocalist Scott Board, drummer Dino Castano and bassist Rod Viquez, the band sets the mood for something more than just singing over music.

With grandiose instrumentals and heroic vocals, Sartori creates complex, melodic tunes that command attention. They are heavily influenced by classical baroque music, so the band stands as the symphony behind Andy Sartori as the ‘maestro’. What sets these guys apart from other bands is their music composition. Andy Sartori explains further:

“We use a lot of arrangements that you won’t find any other bands doing. Lots of vocals, lots of guitar quartets, duets, and harmony arrangements. My writing is based on positive vibes, positive lyric content, no criticism, no anger, and I write sometimes about spiritual content in the matter of being a better human and about life experiences, personal and in general along with influence from movies and stories I enjoy... sometimes."

SATANATH – URBAN APOCALYPSE (Review by Varg The Mighty)

Today’s review is of Russian Dark Ambient project Satanath’s album “Urban Apocalypse”, celebrating its recent rerelease.

This release offers 17 tracks of ominous sonorities with little to no melody that will transport the listener to a sci-fi dystopian future of bleak urban desolation through their ambience. Although it may feel too long and monotonous to just listen to it attentively, the album creates an eerie aura that may serve well to tint in some darkness any activity you are doing.

These pure electronic soundscapes sometimes encounter some subtle percussion that comes and goes, serving as a guiding point in the full-length’s vastness. Fans of anything gloomy that want some relaxed music that creates the same unrest or even more than noisier music genres should check it out. No highlights are needed on this one, for a good experience may only be achieved by listening to the whole thing.

I recommend this album to fans of Dark Ambient. My rating is of 8,5/10.

ADARRAK – EX ORIENTE LUX (Review by Varg The Mighty)

Today’s review is of Singaporean Progressive Death Metal band Adarrak’s debut album.

This release offers a melodically complex concept with enough of an aggressive element as to also appeal to fans of straightforward Death Metal. With virtuous solos and passages combined with a brutal aggression that is well mastered in the region, the result mixes clear vocals and ominous parts with fast paced and gruesome aspects in a correctly structured way that reeks of modernity and freshness while conserving the essence of the genre, often leaning as well towards a Melodic Death Metal approach.

As aforementioned, it is a decent full-length in the eyes of a purist, but listeners of more technical genres may also find some additional layers of depth that synchronize well with their aura. Notably, some songs also have an almost Doom feeling that makes the whole a lot heavier. My personal highlights are “Final Ethos Demise” and “Mettle”.

I recommend this album to fans of Death Metal, especially of Melodic Death Metal and Progressive Death Metal. My rating is of 8/10.
