HATE – SAVE YOU ( Review By Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of Italian Hard Rock veterans Hate’s second album.
The classic Italian Hard Rock band has returned with another display of good old Rock n’ Roll. With catchy riffs in the style of Guns n’ Roses, Mr. Big, late Twisted Sister, White Snake or especially Van Halen (surely helped by a vocal performance in the style of David Lee Roth and very similar song structures to those of their first albums, notably on “First Love” or “Doctor”), the band deliver a good album packed with old-school songs.
With some good confidence, the songs really prove that they actually lived through the 80’s scene and that they aren’t just some kids imitating the masters (some good examples are the use of Mötley Crüe-like cowbells, the funk influences on some songs like “The Choice”, the catchy choruses, the great simplistic solos or the swagger of the bass lines). If you were searching for something truly classic and diverse then search no more, with their heavier songs like “Break It” or “On Fire” mixed with some powerful, Helloween-like ballads like the title-track or “Angel On The Run” and some other great surprises, this album is a very good Hard Rock release for this year.I recommend this to fans of 80’s Hard Rock, especially the American wave, Heavy Metal and Glam Rock. My rating is of 9,5/10.
