PARAGON ZERO – OMASS ( Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of Hungarian Black Doom Metal band Paragon Zero’s new EP.

The release consists of 4 diverse songs that display a strong return of the band. With some really clear Paradise Lost and Tiamat influences on their music, this band doesn’t play a very common kind of Black Doom Metal.

While the Black Metal side to them is quite visible despite the slower rhythms and lack of straightforward aggressiveness, but the Doom Metal side is kind of more hidden, although it is sometimes very prominent, especially on the acoustic parts on tracks like “Phosphorous Blaze”. The Gothic touch they apply to the songs surely makes them unique and dark, and the calmer approach even in quicker parts like on “Remnants” results in an interesting and out of the ordinary release with no need for absurd experimentation and instead sticking to the beauty in the occult.

I recommend this EP to fans of Black Metal, Gothic Metal, Black Doom Metal and Gothic Doom Metal. My rating is of 8,5/10.
