CRYPTOBIOSIS – CHAINSAW CRUCIFIXION ( Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of German Death Metal band Cryptobiosis’ new album.

This album is a powerful dose of classic Extreme Metal delivered with wrath but also with a sweetly macabre sense of humour. The release sounds pretty old-school and it certainly has that identifiable touch of German Death Metal incorporated into its sonority, but it also notably has some riffs with more melody than others, though no track comes near to Melodic Death Metal here thanks to a careful meditation on violence. There are also some slower bits that add a fine element of darkness.

If you like your Death Metal grotesque, putrid and hateful then look no further. While there isn’t any element that gives a truly identifiable mark of personality, the album is a good piece of old-school worship with enough modernity as to not sound recycled from the masters. My personal highlights are “NecrObese” and “Screams From The Void”.

I recommend this album to fans of Death Metal. My rating is of 8/10.
