Today’s review is of Finnish Thrash Death Metal band Tormentor Tyrant’s self-titled debut EP.
This release offers 5 tracks of straightforward, old-school and up-to-no-bullshit Death Metal in the likes of Deicide, also incorporating many elements of early OSDM from when it was hard to distinguish from Thrash, though the EP clearly leans much more towards the Death Metal direction.
While aggressive and gruesome may be the best adjectives to describe these songs, there is also a tint of darkness that grants it a lot more quality. If you like brutal, fast and ravenous Extreme Metal, this EP is a must for you. It displays an amount of raw violence that has rarely been offered like this recently. Neck injuries due to excessive headbanging may occur if listening to this release at high volumes. My personal highlights are “Tormentor Tyrant” and “Primal Evil”.
I recommend this EP to fans of Thrash Death Metal and Death Metal, especially OSDM. My rating is of 9,5/10.
