A Nameless Dread (South Africa) Extreme Debut Album - For Release From Next Saturday 31 October

South African Extreme Metal Band A NAMELESS DREAD Unleash THE FIRST NOTHING

Inspired by the ancient Mayans' concept of "zero"- something that, while almost inherent in our understanding of the world today, was revolutionary up until as recent as a few thousand years ago. Depicted as a crude symbol, it would be used to indicate an absence. Nothing!

We see the emptiness, the formless void, and the things waiting in it to awaken again. They are cold and indifferent to human life and we are just play-things to them. Seeing how they subtly influence mankind in different ways, for example the murder ballad ‘Cold Black’ and the tale of the the grave robber in ‘The Resurrectionist’. They influence humans and humans in return worship death and through death the outer things are given power in this dimension.  This theme is expanded on in ‘Rot With Me’ which is about the dead rising and taking over.

The others are more direct, in that they describe what will happen once the forces of the beyond break through into our plane of existence. ‘When God Blinks’, ‘Enter Chaos’ and ‘Bleached Bone’ all illustrate the various Eldritch horrors awaiting mankind, while The Great Unclean is what becomes of humanity eventually as civilization collapses and a new perversion of religion comes into being. Tying back into the worship of death and decay with the cycle of corruption being complete.

They were and are The First Nothing, the shapeless, twisted things lurking in the dark heart of the mind.

They are nameless, they are eternal!

The album consists of 7 tracks, produced, mixed, and mastered by Damian Buys.

Having discovered a mutual love of Dark Fantasy, Cosmic and Eldritch horror, and of course sharing the same influences musically, encompassing a range of bands and genres from Death Metal, Groove Metal, Tech Death and many others, A Nameless Dread was formed. Having had the desire to create something new after leaving their previous bands, Rhett, Damian and Tim formed A Nameless Dread in early 2019. Des joined on drums shortly after, and the four were complete. The synergy and energy in the studio, practice space and stage was tangible.     The main focus was to form a band where each member is fully involved in the band's vision, and making the kind of extreme music that each one loves to play.

A Nameless Dread strives to make bone crushing extreme metal with substance and theatricality, both during their live performance, and in the studio. Dread aims to create something unique and haunting, something that lives in between the spaces of the normal, in the dark gaps of the imagination. A feeling the audience is fascinated and unsettled by at the same time. With Damian writing the riffs, Tim’s huge bass lines, Des’ crushing drumming and Rhett taking care of the lyrics, the band has completed their debut album. We are pleased to be releasing The First Nothing on the 31st of October 2020

TRUTH DECAYED (South Africa) EP Release MODERN DAY ILLUSION - For Release This Friday 23 October

SOUTH AFRICAN THRASHERS TRUTH DECAYED RELEASE MODERN DAY ILLUSION EP

"Truth has lost its definition! Truth ... a modern day disgrace!"

Welcome to a hard gritty look at the state of the world in 2020 from the eyes of TRUTH DECAYED, a newly formed Thrash Metal outfit from Durban (South Africa). These lads have seemingly come out of nowhere and has taken the Metal Scene by storm, raking in an African Metal Week Award with BurgStudio Radio, triumphantly earning a Band Battle Accolade with The Metal Lab in the UK and receiving international airplay for their debut single on various stations (and all this before their debut EP even released)!

No stranger to hard graft and sonic success, A.S. Guitars Ambassador and Solo Artist Ryno Theron heads up this new outfit as Vocalist and Guitarist. Long-time friend and muso compadre Warren Jones takes up fellow Guitar Duties, perfectly complemented by Johan Maree on Bass and Backing Vocals as well as Brandon Carey on Drums.

Ryno Theron states that "the songs are made up from old riffs Warren and I wrote some years ago. Hearing our respective songs come to life has been an awesome experience, giving birth to the Truth Decayed sound, combined with the input from Johan and Brandon".

Guitarist Warren Jones comments that "I'm glad these songs turned out the way they did. Great bunch of guys turned these riffs into something unthinkable."

Drummer Brandon Carey adds that "It was really fun and interesting working with Ryno and Warren on these songs with Johan bringing in a fresh take on bass. The songs with every member's different backgrounds in music influences shines through and gives a unique sound that I'm sure people will enjoy. Keep it brutal!"

Bassist Johan Maree concludes that "It has been an amazing trip so far to work with friends, making music we love. I look forward to the future and the experiences ahead."

MODERN DAY ILLUSION offers stark commentary on a world marred by decayed morals and skewed truths, where fakeness reigns supreme, adding to the ever-growing bouquet of terror plaguing a society already in turmoil.

ABOUT TRUTH DECAYED

Warren Jones (Guitar) Ryno Theron (Guitar & Vocals) Brandon Carey (Drums) & Johan Maree (Bass & Vocals)

Truth Decayed is a South African Thrash Metal band founded by long time friends, Warren Jones and Ryno Theron. Warren Jones played for the promising Durban Metal band "Mystical Element" early in his music career.

More later ventures include the successful "Metallica, Kill Em All Tribute" in Durban. Ryno Theron has played in numerous Durban Metal bands, most notably "Throne". He has also for the last few years built up a solid solo career which has seen him release his critically acclaimed "Howling Rush" album, and perform at Smoking Dragon festival, Splashy Fen and more.

To make up the four piece, Warren brought in Johan Maree (bass) and Brandon Carey (drums). Johan is a newbie to the music scene, but packed with talent and passion. Brandon was part of the popular Stigmata Dawn. In his time in Stigmata Dawn, he performed at numerous festivals including Thornfest, Mutherfudd, Season's Wither and Witchfest (When Carcass headlined) to name a few.

With this complete line up they are a new band, with big goals. Developing as a "lockdown band" they have brought out their first single "Modern Day Illusion" which won them a top 5 spot on France The Planet's Southern African Metal Madness Week on BurgStudio. This was closely followed by taking the Battle of the Bands Title with The Metal Lab in the UK.

PINBALL WIZARD – MAKE MILLENNIALS GREAT AGAIN (Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of Spanish Hard Rock band Pinball Wizard’s latest EP.
Completely capturing the sound of the 80’s with some notable modernity included, this EP mostly sounds like early Guns n’ Roses without any extravagant solos needed to prove a point and a slight keyboard in the background occasionally to create the right vibe. Added to the nice riffs are particularly harsh female vocals that fit perfectly with the music and that gives it a good singularity.
They also have a style that is very similar to Glam Rock, even if it leans mostly to Hard Rock. The song where this is more apparent is “Crazy Horse”, the best out of the whole EP. On other songs, the sound reminds us more of the 70’s, with some clear Santana influences like on “Blah Blah Blah”. Despite the short length of the EP, it is very diverse with talent displayed without the need of bombastic show-offs but with decent confidence that makes us travel through diverse realms of Rock music without getting lost in anything progressive or boring.
I recommend this album to fans of 80’s Hard Rock, 70’s Rock and Glam Rock. My rating is of 8,5/10.
