NUBIVAGANT stream AMOR FATI debut at BardoMethodology.com - features members of DARVAZA, FIDES INVERSA

Today, black metal iconoclasts Nubivagant stream the entirety of their highly anticipated debut album, Roaring Eye, at esteemed cultural journal BardoMethodology.com. Set for international release on September 30th via Amor Fati Productions, hear Nubivagant's Roaring Eye in its entirety exclusively HERE.

Although brand-new in name, the man behind Nubivagant possesses the collective experience of over decades in the black metal scene: multi-instrumentalist Omega, who concurrently helms the well-respected Darvaza and Fides Inversa and plays drums in a multitude of hordes, including (but certainly not limited to) Frostmoon Eclipse, Enepsigos, Blut Aus Nord, Chaos Invocation, Kult, and Ukraine's Moloch among many others. Nevertheless, Nubivagant is to be taken as Omega's most personal work to date, handling as does all the instruments as well as vocals.

Roaring Eye is the provocative title of Nubivagant's debut recording, a full-length album encompassing six songs in 40 minutes. Black metal the muse may be, but Roaring Eye transcends conventional definitions of the form whilst not losing its original occult essence. Front and center are the soul-stirring vocals of Omega, a clean-toned timbre that strike closer to classic deathrock than the usual "metal" iterations of such. From there, ceaselessly roiling waves of hypnotic, utterly mesmerizing atmosphere are doled out from the band's clanging-yet-crystalline strings. Immersive to the hilt, the drumming underneath anchors this sound-womb with steady, sturdy intent. Nubivagant channels the voice of the dying and the emptiness of despair, making the album a paradoxically emboldening experience. Behold the brilliant vision of their Roaring Eye!

Fully behold that brilliant vision exclusively HERE, courtesy of BardoMethodology.com. Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

Italy's FATE stream new CALIGARI EP at "Deaf Forever" magazine's website

Today, Italian metal/punk alchemists Fate stream the entirety of their highly anticipated second EP, II, at Deaf Forever magazine's website. Set for international release on September 30th via Caligari Records on cassette tape format, hear Fate's II in its entirety exclusively HERE.

Hailing from Padua and formed in 2018, the four members of Italy's Fate have a rich and varied background in numerous metal and punk bands the past decade-plus. Coming together under the simple-yet-stately moniker of Fate, their intention from the beginning has been to honor ancient-yet-eclectic cults under that wider umbrella of heavy metal and punk rock. Thus, the influences of Celtic Frost, GISM, and Cirith Ungol all bear equal importance upon their unique aesthetic.

The first fruits of that aesthetic came with Fate's first EP, I, which was released in a super-limited cassette version of just 33 copies. The cover art, skewing the classic speed metal slogan of Banzai Records, was indicative of Fate's faithful-yet-idiosyncratic approach to metalpunk, and they've eclipsed that feat with the even-stronger II.

Featuring three tracks in a swift-yet-satisfying 11 minutes, Fate's second strike manages to engage in a narrative way despite its short length. Opener "Where the Gods Go to Die" has a crypt-lurking stomp that's eerily mournful; then "Mask of Silver Death" fluidly shifts tempos and back - and often - whipping forth a fury one minute, readying for battle the next; and closer "Demiurge" brings the EP to a dramatic end, literally ripping across the battlefield with a triumphant gallop and capped by a spectral synth outro. Through it all, the quartet ooze attitude and charisma, evincing a sound and style that seems aeons-old but simultaneously strangely fresh. Recorded and mixed by Alex Rossi and mastered by Arthur Rizk, one could successfully argue that the production is utilized as a second instrument here, but Fate have the songwriting chops in spades - and they're just getting started!

Get fully started exclusively HERE, courtesy of Deaf Forever, Germany's defenders of the true. Preorder info can be found HERE at Caligari's Bandcamp. Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

Gorephilia - In The Eye of Nothing Dark / Descent Records / Me Saco Un Ojo Records Release: 2 October 2020

ME SACO UN OJO RECORDS and DARK DESCENT are proud to present GOREPHILIA’s highly anticipated third album, In the Eye of Nothing, on vinyl and CD format.

Although initially going under the moniker Goretexx, since the latter part of 2007, Finland’s GOREPHILIA have been crafting a classically minded canon of death metal might. Two demos under this more-fitting moniker followed in 2008 and 2011, but it was 2011’s Ascend to Chaos mini-album where the GOREPHILIA legend truly took flight. Surely, their country of origin signaled some of their aesthetic – names such as Demigod, Convulse, and Adramalech rang true – but even this early on, subtle twists of their own identity crept in. Those would fully blossom the next year with the debut album, Embodiment of Death. Aptly titled, this first full-length ranged beyond Finland to the rich history of ‘90s death metal on both side of the Atlantic, again with an even more pronounced identity: swampy yet clear-headed, exceptionally tight but never sterile, and above all, mind-mangling songwriting that somehow sticks in your head.

It would take another five years before GOREPHILIA would deliver their next album. When it at last arrived, in early 2017, it was very much worth the wait. Graced with literally electrifying cover art, Severed Monolith matched it musically, showing even-more-twisted prowess in the songwriting department, here largely handled by founding guitarist Jukka. This second album also saw the arrival of prolific drummer Kauko Kuusisalo and second guitarist Pauli Gurko. GOREPHILIA were truly a well-oiled machine at this point.

While no doubt still reeling from the tragic loss of founding vocalist Henu – GOREPHILIA soldiered on, undaunted, and now return with their long-awaited third album, In the Eye of Nothing. With Jukka now also handling vocals, the four-piece GOREPHILIA exhibit a newfound sense of slithering finesse, that swampiness of old expounded upon with startling effect. Right from the very beginning, with ominous opener “Walls of Weeping Eyes,” the band exhibit a throttling energy no matter the tempo; each moment, every mesmerizing ‘n’ martial riff, is parceled out with precision, in place exactly where it needs to be and thoroughly maximized to its fullest effect. Which is all to say that the songwriting across In the Eye of Nothing has hit a fever pitch of perfection, channeling the diabolical fervor of early Morbid Angel with the strident command they’d exhibit as the ‘90s progressed, but obviously with the cosmic horror GOREPHILIA have been characteristically exhibiting all these years. In fact, one could point to a telltale track like “Ouroboran Labyrinth” for both a visual and sonic embodiment of the dread landscapes the quartet so effortlessly construct. Or, peer deeply into haunting cover art courtesy of Raúl González…inescapable immersion awaits In the Eye of Nothing.
