AKRAL NECROSIS – THE GREATER ABSENCE ( Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of Romanian Black Metal band Akral Necrosis’ new concept album.

Although the album starts kind of weakly, each song seems better than the previous, with a culmination on songs like “Man In The Cauldron” that really bring an early Gorgoroth feeling, with the same rawness and vastness.

Other songs tend somewhat towards Black Death Metal or Atmospheric Black Metal, following the narration of the album’s dark story as needed. This release also has a sort of poor production that fits well with the music played and doesn’t interfere with the experimentation on tracks like “I See The Bright Lights”. Overall this release has great songs and is full of surprises, even if the whole album may not be a masterpiece. Therefore, the songs I most highly recommend are “Man In The Cauldron”, “Intonation”, and “Revamping The Inside”.

I recommend this album to fans of Black Metal, Black Death Metal and Atmospheric Black Metal. My rating is of 8,5/10.
