Incognosci - A Biography of Madness (Release date: Thursday, October 22nd 2020)

Genre: Death Metal
Format: Digital | CD
Country: Brazil

The entity known as INCOGNOSCI was unborn in 2008, from the ashes of the brutal band NECROPSE, when Marcos and Jonathas (Ex-REGORGE) got together to make insane and deranged sounds. They joined with Iron (GUTTED SOULS, PERISTALTIC MOVEMENT, Ex-ANOPSY) and Gabriel De Jong in 2013 to release a thematic EP about the mental anguish of a brainwashed soldier called “Trapped in Spontaneous Disintegration” released by Genocidio records and MVCS Prods. Later on, we released a single in 2015, “Eleven Years” that told a new piece of the story of the brainwashed man. This single counted with the production of Diego Soria (BROKEN HOPE, DISGORGE USA), and at this moment the talented drummer Braulio Drumond (PAUL DIANNO, LEATHER LEONE, MJOKER & THE ROTTENS, Ex-UNEARTHLY) joined the band, replacing De Jong. This single was released by Genocidio Records, Digital Yourself, and Fall of Eden Records. Now, their irst full-length album “A Biography of Madness” recorded and mixed at AM studios by Fernando Campos, and mastered at Grindhouse Studios Athens by George Bokos (Ex-ROTTING CHRIST). This album was released by Extreme Sound Records in October 2020. With creative grooves, bass solos, unique riffs and brutal vocals, this album tells a story of madness, murder and brainwashing in 8 tracks of Death Metal with a strong old school vein.

Nihilum released debut EP

American Black Metal band Nihilum released their debut EP «Call of the Void». The EP was recorded by Geoff Hirt in "Bedroom Studios" and mixed/mastered by Simon Jameson at "Black Art Audio".

North Carolina-based Black Metal artist Nihilum builds his sonic fortress on a foundation of driving, melodic tendencies. His music aims to test the limits of his listeners, eliciting anger and releasing the dormant wonder that’s been suppressed in our collective consciousness. Above all, it's his commitment and love for Black Metal, and music in general, that drives him forward in life.

SNOWBLIND – THE HOLY METAL SPIRIT ( Review By Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of Greek Heavy Metal band Snowblind’s upcoming sixth album, out on December 11th.
As usual, they deliver some decent Heavy Metal, with hints of Hard Rock and a couple of songs that may sound perfectly fine in your town’s pub, like “Master Of My Life”. On other songs like “The Misery Is In Our Souls”, they have a dark side to their music that, combined with some compositions that remind of 90s Heavy Metal and a voice delivered by the singer of Nightfall that reminds of Blaze Bailey, makes them different from the rest.
Nonetheless, there are also some songs where the implementation of an epic atmosphere doesn’t quite work as it ought to, and it makes them sound like some bad Power Metal band (take for instance “Dreamer Alone” or “Metal Soldiers”). The album as a whole isn’t quite as good as it should and it includes some tracks that may be boring, but there are a couple of good songs that prove their veteran talent even on a weak release, and the inclusion of 2 classic songs live surely helps amend the album too. I recommend this album to fans of 70s Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Epic Heavy Metal and Power Metal. My rating is of 8/10.

A Grind/Hardcore/Powerviolence hybrid that slams the current state of the world in your face! For fans of: Nails, (old) Napalm Death, Discordance Axis, Cocaine Piss and Nasum!

Haling from Perth, Australia Concede have been around for a couple of years and managed to leave a lasting impression on the local and international scene already. With several ep’s and singles under their belt the band now unleashes their first full length album ‘Indoctrinate’ upon the world. Their mix of Hardcore/Powerviolence and Grindcore puts bands such as Nails to shame. The pure, unfiltered rage and disdain Concede manages to capture into their music and lyrics is unparalleled. You can feel the pain, anger and frustration that motivates this band throughout the entire album. A journey through the darkened era mankind is currently facing.

TRENCHWAR – CRIMINAL ORGANIZATIONS ( Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of Turkish Black Thrash Metal band Trenchwar’s debut album, out on December 11th.
While having a distant feel of Bay Area, this album is much more aggressive, extreme, dark and overall better than most of that subgenre. Instead, they greatly lean towards the style of bands like Sodom, Kreator, Onslaught or Protector.
With an incredibly good distortion and powerful vocals, this band has catchy songs like “Trenchwar” or “Rape Of The Week”, which kind of remind us of the latest singles of Sodom, while the song “Thrash Not Trash” leans more towards the humour of referencing numerous Thrash Metal albums without losing any violence.
Other songs like “Kill” or “The Godfathers” lean more towards unusually long durations for Thrash and notable complexity in the riffs, but they surely sound as straightforward as any 3-minute song with 2 riffs. This debut is a great display of extremity, violence and technique, and you will surely be in dire need of hearing it live after listening to it.
I recommend this album to fans of Teutonic Thrash Metal, Death Thrash Metal and Black Thrash Metal. My rating is of 9,5/10.

PASSENGERS IN PANIC – PASSENGERS IN PANIC ( Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of Greek Progressive Folk Metal band Passengers In Panic’s debut self-titled album.
While perfectly being considered Progressive, it is pretty simplistic for the style, leaning also heavily towards Heavy Metal. Besides including unusual instruments for metal, it is also curious to hear some Greek folk, since it isn’t that common of a theme for Folk Metal bands.
Besides being clearly Folk, they sound sometimes like an odd mix of Cruachan with Plasmatics, something unexpected, sometimes a bit too strange but sometimes pretty good. Also, the band is pretty light and are far from the extremity added to folk by most bands, instead keeping more its romantic, traditional sound even with metal instruments (most notably in the Therion-like “Life At Its Best”). Thanks to a good vocal performance and an instrumentalism that doesn’t get too complicated, the band seem to have a unique sound that can be polished to produce even better songs. At the moment though, this is quite decent for a debut.
I recommend this album to fans of Folk Metal, Progressive Folk Metal and Heavy Metal. My rating is of 8,5/10.
